We are seeking an experienced Development Manager to lead the charge in managing the entire lifecycle of development, from origination to financial close. The successful applicant will join the existing Renewables Development team, and will report to the Head of Development. 

 

The role will provide you with exposure to various renewable technologies including solar, wind as well as battery storage, within a collaborative and respectful team environment.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Being accountable for  asset development activities including project concept, planning development, environmental assessments, permitting, connection and commercialisation
  • Support development stages from project identification and origination to construction and initial operations to ensure regulatory and planning compliance and also provide support for project acquisitions
  • Managing internal and external resources (including consultants) to support development
  • Negotiating and securing land tenure agreements and management of landowner and stakeholder relationships
  • Leading planning processes to secure necessary statutory project approvals
  • Managing procurement processes in collaboration with ENGIE’s general procurement departments and managers
  • Ownership of the project Assumptions Book that describes the project parameters as they input into the Project Financial Model

 

 About you:

The successful incumbent will have solid experience in the development of renewable power generation assets, including Wind, Solar and BESS assets.  You will have sound influencing and effective communication skills and can balance multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes.  You have gained excellent project management skills, preferably in a matrix management environment and can steer change and work within a changing environment.  

 

This role and the development projects will have functional support through Engie’s multi-disciplinary engineering team, commercial & procurement team, legal team, corporate affairs, as well as a strong community & stakeholder team.

The opportunity:

As an integral member of the Acquisitions, Investments & Financial Advisory (AIFA) team, the Senior Financial Advisor will collaborate with the team to evaluate a diverse range of investment opportunities for ENGIE ANZ. This role will involve leading the valuation and risk analysis of new investment, as well as structuring and executing M&A and project financing transactions across significant energy projects and strategic initiatives undertaken by ENGIE ANZ.

 

The Senior Financial Advisor, will report to the Head of AIFA ANZ, and will leverage your well developed skills in project financing, financial and commercial due diligence on deals, financial modelling, and the negotiation and execution of financing arrangements for major transactions. You will engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in an organisation that is at the forefront of the energy transition.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and sensitise robust project financial models in line with AIFA best practices and Group investment guidelines
  • Analyse, evaluate and recommend financing options and proposals as they relate to a organic project development or other funding needs.
  • Conduct financial Due Diligence on M&A opportunities, including coordination of external financial advisors
  • Calculate valuation as well as accounting impacts (net debt, COI, ROCE, Net Results, profit on disposal) of investment decisions, contributing to quality and uniformity of valuation methods
  • Advise and assist internal stakeholders in understanding appropriate risk allocation, bankability of terms and conditions of various project contracts and provide general structuring advice and optimization of returns
  • Assist the business development decision making process, identifying key financial indicators to be applied and monitored for investment decisions.
  • Liaise directly with business development, finance and tax to understand and develop business plans and relevant assumptions, scenarios and sensitivities, including the accounting and tax treatment, and assess their impact on the project

 

 

 About you:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role within energy, infrastructure, banking or an advisory firm
  • Ability to manage a diverse and complex set of stakeholders, advise and influence decisions
  • Advanced modelling skills and relevant qualifications such as CFA, Engineering, Economics
  • Ability to manage multiple parties with minimal support including banks, consultants, lawyers as well as internal stakeholders (management, business development, legal, technical, insurance, tax and accounting) to bring transactions to conclusion in a challenging environment
  • Ability to support multiple projects of varying maturity at the same time
  • Team player, collaborative, with a long term view on career and passion for the energy transition

What You Can Expect

As the Ecological Restoration / Vegetation Management Advisor based in Houston, TX, you will ensure that ecological restoration and vegetation management strategies are developed, implemented and effectively maintained across all ENGIE Renewables sites.  You will work closely with the development and delivery teams to identify and implement vegetation management strategies for new projects.  You will be responsible for ensuring site preparation and seeding during the delivery phase and managing the operational phase, including coordinating contractors for mowing, grazing, or other methods. This role requires collaboration across teams to support the success of vegetation management throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Reporting to the VP, Field Operations, your primary duties will encompass:

 

  • Keeping up to date with innovation and industry best practices and acting as subject matter expert in relation to ecological restoration, vegetation management, agrivoltaics (such as sheep grazing), pollinator habitat and other related activities.
  • Ensuring sites remain compliant with regulatory requirements, planning consents and land lease obligations along with any other such requirements. Including the tracking and closure of consent and licensing conditions
  • Conducting ecological restoration related fieldwork, including assessment of site conditions, noxious weed mapping, storm water pollution prevention planning, auditing of restoration works and restoration monitoring to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards
  • Working closing with teams across development, construction and operations and maintenance to develop ecologically minded site restoration strategies / specifications, including seed mixes, biodiversity enhancements, monitoring protocols, and vegetation maintenance plans for use during a project’s planning, construction, and operations phases
  • Drafting technical memos and reports, along with other project support materials as needed
  • Identification and assessment of suitably qualified and experienced vegetation management contractors, drafting of scopes along with the tendering, letting and day to day management of contracts
  • Communicating effectively regarding the scope and schedule of restoration and vegetation management activities to be performed, onsite along with ongoing monitoring and maintenance required by site teams
  • Assessment and approval of weed abatement treatments for use on site including pesticides and herbicides.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in restoration ecology, natural resource management, environmental science, conservation biology, or a closely related discipline; In lieu of the educational requirement, we will accept a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industry experience in vegetation management & ecology restoration
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently and interact professionally and respectfully with project managers, site managers, contractors, landowners, and regulatory bodies

Compensation

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is required  

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role with grid-scale wind resource assessment and preliminary layout design
  • Experience with commercially available and proprietary tools (e.g., Openwind) for estimating and optimizing wind facilities
  • Knowledge and experience in development and construction of power generation and storage assets in the United States
  • Must be able to interpret production studies and use that information to advise on business development projects and activities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, especially when interacting with outside stakeholders such as government agencies and local communities is an essential part of the role

Compensation

Salary Range: $84,000 – $128,800 USD annually

As a Solar Engineer II, you will play a key role in designing, developing, optimizing grid-scale solar power systems (100MW+), and providing sustainable energy solutions that help drive our renewable energy mission forward in North America.

Every day in this role:

  • Preliminary Design and Optimization: Support efforts for the preliminary design and optimization of grid-scale solar projects (100MW+)
  • Coordination: Work with solar team members, development staff, and project delivery teams to identify project design constraints and requirements
  • Procurement Collaboration: Coordinate with the procurement team to determine the necessary equipment for optimal site design
  • Technical Point of Contact: Serve as the technical point of contact for solar project development
  • Site Production and Optimization: Coordinate and review site production and optimization efforts using various evaluation software (e.g., Sift, PVcase, AutoCAD, pvDesign, Pvsyst)
  • Communication: Effectively communicate technical subject matter to non-technical staff members
  • Industry Trends: Stay updated on changing trends in the solar industry
  • Consultant Management: Assist with scoping, contracting, and managing consultants for design and technical services
  • Conceptual Design: Develop and advise on conceptual design configurations for development pipeline and M&A projects
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Grow expertise in grid-scale solar generation using the company’s tools and processes, and share lessons learned to build institutional knowledge within ENGIE North America
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with ENGIE Engineering teams to leverage local and global in-house experience and knowledge, and act as a team member with all employees of ENGIE North America and Grid Scale Renewables staff

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering,  Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant technical discipline is required
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience with grid-scale solar project engineering design and optimization

  • Experience or close coordination with CAD and GIS software platforms for solar site layouts
  • Experience with PVsyst or other solar production models for estimating energy production and optimizing solar facilities
  • Must be able to communicate complex technical subject matter information to a wide range of audiences verbally and in written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and demonstrate excellent organizational and project management skills

Context:

Within GEMS, the Risk Expertise Center’s purpose is to, on one hand, advise and help the Business Platforms in optimizing their activities making sure it respects all the rules and limits, and on the other hand, to manage, monitor and control the risks that GEMS is facing globally in its commercial and energy management activities.

In the context of its re-organization, the EC Risk has created new Transversal Risk functions with the general objectives to provide a sound global risk framework through the design of the global risk mandates and policies, and to harmonize and spread best practices across all GEMS local development areas.

Role:

As Transversal Risk Methodology Expert, you will report to the Transversal CRO and will be in charge of:

 

  • Model validation: you are accountable for pricing model validations across all entities outside of EGM and you will check compliance with MtM rules when migrating a book from S-P to MtM perimeter;
  • Cartography: you are responsible and accountable for the cartography of authorized products on MtM perimeter outside of EGM, and you maintain a clear list of validated metrics for each scope;
  • Model user support for market /credit / liquidity risk metrics outside of EGM;
  • New Business process outside of EGM : you ensure transversality of the market and credit risk framework across GEMS, in particular for countries;
  • Liquidity risk: you coordinate the EGM Risk Methodology Core Team work as designer of the Liquidity Risk metrics for the scope outside of EGM;
