The Role
You’ll be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, structuring, negotiating and executing complex transactions, and managing client relationships for the GEMS external Gas franchise. You’ll play a crucial role in managing ENGIE internal portfolio and building the GEMS commercial Gas franchise.

About you

  • Tertiary Qualification in Economics, Legal, Finance, or a related field

  • Experience trading or dealing in energy market, including knowledge of Australian Gas market transaction structures, regulations, and market participants

  • Prior experience or exposure to complex negotiations and the end-to-end process to execution

  • Articulate, with high commercial awareness and exceptional consultative skills

¿Cuál sería tu objetivo?

Coordinar y liderar proyectos de ingeniería de sistemas de Transmisión (Subestaciones en AT,MT y BT, Líneas de AT-MT, etc.),dentro de la Gerencia Técnica, abarcando desde el área de Soporte Técnico al Desarrollo y el área de Ingeniería, según se requiera. Con esta flexibilidad sus actividades podrían corresponder a la coordinación y liderazgo de proyectos durante fase de Desarrollo y/o Implementación, con el fin de asegurar la entrega de estudios y propuestas, realizando recomendaciones de diseño, revisiones de ingeniería, optimizaciones del CAPEX en los diseños, revisiones de cubicaciones, cronogramas, programación y control de las actividades técnicas durante la fase de desarrollo y/o implementación, control y gestión del avance de la ingeniería, validación de equipos primarios previa solicitud de compra, exigencia de cumplimiento  según los deadlines o hitos multables del proyecto, considerando los presupuestos asignados y estándares de calidad, normativa nacional e internacional, seguridad, medio ambiente, costos e indicadores definidos por la compañía.

 

Funciones:

  • Liderar y gestionar el correcto desarrollo y finalización de las Ofertas Técnicas, así como apoyar con la entrega de información técnica a otros stakeholders necesarios para el aseguramiento del cumplimiento de las Bases, así como proporcionar otra información requerida para poder participar en la Licitaciones con Ofertas Vinculantes (Contratistas, compras de terreno, Medio Ambiente, etc.). Todo ello manteniendo coordinación con la Gerencia Técnica y con la Gerencia de Implementación de Proyectos, contribuyendo en el desarrollo y estudio de oportunidades.
  • Gestionar, definir y revisar los proyectos que le sean asignados del portafolio, con el fin de liderar las tareas necesarias durante la fase de desarrollo, implementación o ingenierías Operacionales en su aspecto de ingeniería técnica, utilizando la experiencia interna de la Gerencia Técnica y del grupo Engie, todo lo anterior alineado con la estrategia y metas organizacionales.
  • Coordinar, revisar y/o elaborar bases de licitación para diferentes fines, como por ejemplo: 1) Contratación de proveedores para la elaboración de productos de estudios eléctricos e ingeniería. 2) Contrataciones de Contratistas, en modalidades EPC, EPC light o Multipaquete. Realizando y aportando la descripción del alcance, criterios y otros documentos necesarios para la correcta adjudicación. 3) Procesos de licitaciones públicas. Todo ello controlando y velando por cumplir los plazos establecidos en el cronograma maestro.
  • Trabajar de forma sistemática y según los estándares definidos por la Gerencia Técnica, con el fin de asegurar la correcta trazabilidad y almacenamiento de la información, manteniendo constante interrelación con el área de Proyectos, de Gerencia Técnica, Gerencia de QA&QC, Desarrollo, PMO y demás áreas de la organización, actualizado respecto de los requerimientos y modalidades de ejecución de las distintas licitaciones y proyectos.
  • Gestionar y validar la ingeniería (planos, documentos EE.TT, HCTG, de diseños de SS.EE) de los diferentes proyectos que le sean asignados como  líder de proyecto. Para ello deberá definir las características y requerimientos clave de los planos maestros, así como revisar los productos entregados. Garantizando el cumplimiento normativo, buenas prácticas de ingeniería y optimizando con conocimiento técnico para lograr los objetivos de la compañía asignados a Soporte Técnico al Desarrollo o el Área de Ingeniería.
  • Cumplir con las responsabilidad definidas en reglamento de roles y seguridad RE-01, con el fin de asegurar la aplicación y el cumplimiento de la normativa, reglas y procedimientos internos y externos, contenidos en el programa de seguridad, salud y medio ambiente, en función a las funciones del puesto, y basado a los lineamientos que entrega el IND1, utilizando herramientas de control y reportabilidad definidas por la compañía.

 

Requisitos del cargo:

  • Formación académica: Ingeniería en Ejecución / Civil Eléctrica o afín.
  • Alto conocimiento normativo y del mercado de directa competencia.
  • Alto Conocimiento de Proyectos de Transmisión (calidad de servicio, sistema eléctrico nacional, diseño de Subestaciones eléctricas de AT y MT).
  • Conocimientos en Ingeniería Eléctrica de Transmisión.(Subestaciones en AT,MT y BT, en Líneas de AT-MT, etc.).
  • Experiencia en diseño y coordinación de Subestaciones Eléctricas, en todas sus etapas de Ingeniería (Conceptual, básica, detallada y As built), conocimientos básicos de diseños de Líneas.
  • Administración y Optimización de Recursos.
  • Inglés nivel intermedio.
  • Mínimo 10 años de experiencia en puestos similares, coordinando proyectos eléctricos de transmisión (Subestaciones y/o Líneas AT), con conocimientos  regulatorios, normativos y experiencia en el desarrollo y coordinación de ingeniería de proyectos aplicables al sector eléctrico de media y alta tensión.
  • Experiencia laboral de al menos 15 años en proyectos de transmisión, procesos de licitación, ingeniería, coordinación y evaluación de proyectos de transmisión.

Key Responsibilities

 

Country/ Offices Health and Safety Coordination:

  • Supports Country Manager to coordinate H&S actions throughout the country and to share regularly H&S events and country H&S data and reporting (through Country management committees or dedicated monthly or bimonthly H&S committees in country)
  • Supports Group H&S Function line to relay and implement transversally H&S practices through its country (transverse processes, Group H&S policies, rules and supporting processes, mandatory trainings, communication campaigns and material…) and to ensure adaptation to country specificities (language translations, regulatory requirements or constraints, cultural considerations …)
  • Engie One Safety Culture transformation plan deployment and compliance oversight within the country, with the support of the responsible H&S network and GBU heads in the country.
  • Provides input to the country level H&S strategy of the different GBUs to look for synergies between GBU’s and to implement a consolidated and consistent Group approach at country level in line with H&S Corporate guidance, legal obligations and best practice.

 

Offices Health and Safety Coordination:

 

  • Set up and coordination of a H&S champion office community

  • Ensuring that office emergency procedures are in place with a clear communication and response plan

  • Implement security action plans for UK Country entities , [JC1] in line with recommendations agreed with European Chief Security Manager
  • Support European Chief Security Manager as appropriate, including raising awareness within the UK and rolling out physical security training

With +60 employees, GEM UK is a self-contained platform, covering the whole chain from front-office (commercial origination and trading) to back-office, including core-business support functions (IS, Risk, Legal).

 

Organisation, Location & main Missions       

 

The Chief Operating Officer's primary responsibilities are to facilitate the implementation of business strategies established by the head of the platform “EM UK” and to manage the complete operations chain of support functions locally, in accordance with business growth.

 

Additionally, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for continuously maintaining internal relationships and coordination with the Expertise Centers (EC) throughout the GEMs’ new organization. This includes ensuring constant support to and from the EC and sustaining local alignment with the EC's transversal objectives, such as Risk, Finance & Business Operations, Operational Excellence, Compliance, and Market Conduct.

 

Given the current country setup and the business organization roles between the Engie group GBUs & GEMs setup, the COO is responsible for ensuring effective interaction within Engie UK/B2B UK functions/representatives. This will help maintain formalized, efficient, robust, and transparent services on both sides, such as shared legal entities and asset management agreements.

 

Detailed Role & Responsibilities       

 

As COO of EM UK, you are in charge of:

 

Overseeing  the roll-out of the local risk governance & approved mandate with close collaboration with GEMs RISK EC & CRO Europe.

 

  • Building and implementing the risk mandate and monitoring its operation for BP EM UK.
  • Review and obtain approval for the risk mandate on BP EM UK perimeter on a yearly basis.
  • Ensuring a proper balance between commercial objectives and effective market and credit management while adhering to applicable policies in managing the relationship with business functions.
  • Oversee market and credit risk analysis for deals requiring specific approval (GEMs RC, Origination Committee, Investment Committee) and ensure the quality of presented files.
  • Represent GEMs EM UK in Operational Excellence matters (eg : SBA), support Front Office in developing new business, markets, and products. Continuously enhance the Risk & Trading environment by collaborating with FINOPS, RISK, and MAS EC, including reviewing market and credit risk measurement methodologies and new e-trading platforms or internal market place.
  • Supervise the market and credit risk team/analysts in GEMs EM UK. Manage all risk teams in the UK and ensure efficient communication between Risk representatives of various Business platforms in the UK (e.g., B2B UK).
  • Maintain current risk policies (market, credit, model risk, AML/KYC).

 

Overseeing and Coordinating the day-to-day FINOPS responsibilities within GEMs organization in the UK e.g. Back office & Middle Office operations, connecting to the Finance function :

 

  • Oversee the FINops team (or coordinate within existing resources) to match business organization and GEMs EC expectations & standards. (processes in place…)
  • Be responsible of the local Validation of P/L results /Financial reporting for EM UK and link with service providers current set-up (e.g. Treasury..)
  • Ensure guidelines, tools and processes are in place to guarantee the proper functioning of the daily operations.
  • Evaluate business needs and issues for ongoing development and sustainable FinOps support.
  • Support and mobilize the teams to drive the automation of various accounting and back office task
  • Ensure the accurate recording of transactions and maintaining up-to-date records
  • Resolving confirmation discrepancies with counterparts through collaboration with local back office operators, such as addressing margin calls and delayed payments.

 

Overseeing transversal roles; mainly Internal Control, Compliance, Market Conduct missions

 

  • Ensure adherence to regulations and best practices in collaboration with the local legal department and regulatory bodies, to safeguard clients and facilitate the efficient functioning of markets (compliance).
  • Ensure the security of operations and compliance with GEMs rules (internal control) in collaboration with EC CEP compliance department.
  • Organize on-boarding compliance sessions to new colleagues joining the BP EM UK Platform: GEMs code of conduct (all staff), Sales & Trading handbook (Front Office only) and ensure balanced relation with Market Activities Oversight EC.
  • Ensure business compliance with European and local regulations (e.g., EMIR, REMIT, MIFID, MAR).
  • Ensure trade surveillance activities are fully rolled out  for EM UK  , in relationship with GEMs TS central teams
  • Oversee the development, documentation, and operation of Internal Control for EM UK. Ensure compliance with the Group INCOME framework through the annual self-assessment process.
  • Local contact and coordinator for internal and external audit control.
  • Coordinate with country UK Ethics and Regulations departments to ensure Engie’s policies are respected across the transversal management of the GBUs;

 

Key Requirements

 

  • Proven track record in risk management and operational leadership. They must possess a deep understanding of the regulatory framework and operational processes within which the business operates
  • Knowledge and understanding of the operations, processes and the organisation of such activities
  • Experience in management of senior staff and experts, including transversal management
  • Communication Skills: demonstrating the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it clearly and simply
  • Positive leadership and strong interpersonal skills to inspire and manage senior staff and experts fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Effective organization/ planification/ prioritization skills. Setting pragmatic goals and manage resources efficiently to achieve business objectives
  • Strong analytical mind and business acumen
  • Experienced and/or interested in digital transformation
  • Very strong personal ethos and principles. The COO should be trustful, maintaining high ethical standards and demonstrating integrity in all actions.
  • Open-mindedness is essential for embracing new ideas and innovative approaches. The COO should be flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances
