Mechanical Engineering (Main Plant) - Combined Cycle Power Plant Design

Job Location: Gurgaon

 

Position Overview:

As a Senior Manager/Sr. Manager/DGM Mechanical Engineer, with a focus on combined cycle power plants, you will play a critical role in the design and development of the main plant components (Gas Turbines, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Steam Turbines, and related systems) for our projects. Your expertise in mechanical engineering, combined with your in-depth knowledge of international standards and guidelines, will contribute significantly to the success of our projects.

 

Primary Responsibility:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Expertise: Leverage your 10-18 years of experience to provide technical leadership in the basic and detailed design of Main Plant components for combined cycle power plants. Demonstrate proficiency in hydraulic systems and various types of pumps commonly used in combined cycle power plants.
  2. Feasibility Studies and Project Reports: Utilize your experience to conduct feasibility studies and prepare detailed project reports for a variety of projects related to combined cycle power plants, assessing their viability and potential for success.
  3. Main Plant Design: Apply your expertise in main plant design to enhance the efficiency and performance of combined cycle power plants. Previous experience in these areas will be a significant advantage.
  4. Design Documentation: Take ownership of preparing essential design documentation, including Design Criteria, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), system descriptions, sizing calculations, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), tender evaluations, and vendor engineering for equipment and systems used in combined cycle power plants.
  5. Vendor Coordination: Collaborate effectively with equipment vendors, ensuring that the specified components meet the required standards and specifications.
  6. Standards and Guidelines: Apply your extensive knowledge of international standards such as ASME, HEI, ASME-TDP, API, and HIS to ensure that all design work complies with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  7. Communication: Possess excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders. Effectively convey technical concepts and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
  8. Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, sharing knowledge and experience to foster professional growth within the team.

 

Other Requirements & Expectations:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 10-18 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record in combined cycle power plant design.
  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems and various types of pumps used in combined cycle power plants.
  • Strong familiarity with international standards such as ASME, HEI, ASME-TDP, API, and HIS.
  • Proven experience in conducting feasibility studies and preparing detailed project reports.

About the Role:

 

A Project Development Officer (Large Scale Solar) plays a key role in the planning and execution of large scale solar energy projects across Malaysia during development phase. The candidate will have experience in the development of large-scale solar energy projects, technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve project goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high level project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation for large-scale solar energy projects.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies, and risk assessments to ensure bankable and profitable projects.
  • Initiate and manage relevant feasibility studies to support project proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, legal, health & safety, and asset management, to ensure successful project development till ready to build status.
  • Prepare project proposals, progress reports, and financial summaries to management and stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure project success.
  • Ensure proper governance is being followed, and compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies (SEDA, TNB, MIDA, and EC), corporate off-takers, landowners, technology providers and EPCs.
  • Support internal approval process and management approval papers.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy,  or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project management within the large scale solar energy sector.
  • Familiarity with Malaysia’s energy market, regulations and policies related to renewable energy, Large Scale Solar regulations, and Power Purchase Agreement structures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, coordination and collaboration skills. Fluent in English both in writing and communication.

Within the Network & Cybersecurity Services (NCS) division of GBS IT, the Network And Connectivity (NAC) department is composed of the SDM Team, the Expertise Team and the Network Operating Center (NOC) team.

The NOC serves as the operational hub for our Network and Security infrastructures. The NOC, consisting of over 40 professionals, is structured into two distinct yet complementary teams:

  • NOC Back Office: This team of technical experts focuses on the day-to-day operation of services.
  • NOC Front Office: This team provides crucial support to the Back Office, focusing on industrialization, process management, and operational oversight of infrastructure and managed services.

 

What you will do:

          Incident Management:

  • You will gather needed information from other services (Service Desk and Global Coordination Center), check the priority level (impact and urgency), check the impacted service/customer, and work with the monitoring team to improve the quality of the data in incident tickets. You will assign the ticket to the right L1/L2/L2 level.
  • You will link multiple incidents together when a common root cause can be identified.
  • You will perform the first technical analysis of devices’ status and launch first actions regarding on-site checks with local contacts when necessary (device unreachable).
  • You will create incidents in providers’ portal when necessary (mainly regarding telco providers’ link).
  • You will permanently check the monitoring tools to ensure that every critical alarm is linked to an active incident ticket.
  • You will create new incident tickets when necessary (detection with monitoring tools or customer’s direct request).
  • You will escalate/assign tickets towards Level 2 or Level 3 of the NOC when necessary.

Stakeholder Management and Corporate Affair

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintaining the positive relationship with stakeholders through appropriate management of expectations and objectives, ensuring consistent and effective communication.
  2. Managing and developing relationships with external stakeholders by delivering value, consistency, quality, and reliability in communications and collaborations.
  3. Developing alliances and interactions with French and European trade associations and key strategic stakeholders, including local authorities and government agencies.
  4. Supporting corporate communications efforts, including coordinating with ENGIE’s head office in Paris for messaging, branding, and stakeholder outreach.
  5. Monitoring key industry events and, ensuring ENGIE’s participation at appropriate levels to enhance visibility and influence.
  6. Planning and coordinating major events and high-level engagements, including those involving ENGIE senior management and senior government officials in India.
  7. Facilitating strategic alliances and partnerships by interfacing with external companies, trade organizations, and industry associations to foster collaboration, such as MoU's.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Driving internal and external reporting on CSR and sustainability projects, including collaboration with ENGIE’s ESG team to align with corporate goals.
  2. Supporting business development, Regulatory and project expansion teams, ensuring alignment with ENGIE’s strategy and objectives.
  3. Will handle the Invoicing, NFA, payment disbursement activities, etc.
  4. Implementing processes for tracking and documenting progress on stakeholder engagements, providing regular updates and recommendations to senior management.
