About MIRFA 2 RO Plant

Mirfa 2 Reverse Osmosis (M2 RO) Plant, uses RO technology to produce and supply up to 120 million imperial gallons, equivalent to 550,000 cubic metres of potable water per day to EWEC under a 30-year O&M Agreement with Mirfa 2 RO Desalination Company.

The M2 RO Water Plant is located adjacent to the existing Mirfa 1 Plant located at the Mirfa Complex five kilometers west of the town of Mirfa, about 100 kilometers southwest of the city of Abu Dhabi on the Arabian Gulf coast in UAE.

The expected date for starting commercial operations of the plant is November 2025.

The processes stages that make up the plant are :  Sea water intake  Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF)  Dual Media Pressure Filtration (DMPF)  Cartridge Filtration (CF)  Reverse osmosis Racks (RO);  Chemical Treatment;  Limestone filtration  Potable water storage/network  Sludge treatment  Utilities or auxiliary equipment

Mirfa 2 Staff are expected to reside within the Mirfa city premises to ensure timely response to plant emergencies and callouts. Exceptions to reside in Abu Dhabi / Ruwais / Zayed City, may be considered by plant management.

JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Electrical Technician is to ensure plant Electrical equipment are maintained to a standard that maximizes the reliability and availability of plant utilizing Work Instructions documented in the Maintenance Management System, OEM guidelines and under the instruction of the Electrical Engineer.

SCOPE OF THE JOB:
These responsibilities represent the minimum expectations for the role; additional duties may be assigned as needed.

During Mobilization Period and prior to plant commercial operation date (PCOD):

  • Participate in plant commissioning activities, raising site observations & punch points, observe and report daily plant maintenance during early water production period.
  • Support O&M Manager in warranty and handover of plant from EPC resulting in smooth transition from EPC to O&M Team.

During O&M Period / post COD of plant:

  • Implementing day to day Electrical maintenance activity and planned implementation of Electrical maintenance practices in accordance with OEM, best engineering practice and contractual agreements.
  • Apply specialist Electrical expertise to carry out fault investigations, defect and preventative maintenance, together with modifications on a range of plant.

Maintenance:

  • Work planning and prioritization.
  • Implement Electrical maintenance practices in accordance with OEM and international standards.
  • Completes all Work Orders generated in CMMS as directed.
  • Ensures that maintenance of all Electrical equipment is in accordance with OEM Manuals and best practices for the equipment.
  • Reviews Electrical Maintenance Procedures and suggests improvements.
  • Works to full potential and high quality of work.
  • Provide supervision to supporting maintenance staff and contractors to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance of the plant.
  • Support development and implementation of maintenance procedures to cover all maintenance work performed.
  • Supports the 24-hour operation by being regularly available for call-out at short notice.
  • Completes any planned maintenance work within time and budget.
  • Assists others to make decisions, to resolve plant maintenance problems.
  • Deliver outcomes, in all areas of work, consistent with the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies.

Hazards & Risks: Working in the plant site at and in the vicinity of the followings:

  • Rotating and Moving Equipment: Risk of injury from rotating machinery, moving parts, and conveyors.
  • High-Temperature and High-Pressure Systems: Exposure to extreme temperatures and pressures in pipes, pumps, pressure vessels, and tanks.
  • Electrical Hazards: Handling equipment at various voltage levels, including risks associated with low- and high-voltage switching.
  • Chemical Exposure: Working with hazardous chemicals, including risks related to storage, handling, and accidental releases.
  • Thermal and Humidity Stress: Working in hot weather conditions, high humidity, and confined spaces, increasing the risk of heat stress and dehydration.

  • Confined Spaces: Working in restricted areas where limited ventilation and movement increase the risk of accidents.

  • Slip, Trip, and Fall Hazards: Working on wet, slippery surfaces and at elevated heights.

  • The job holder operates under the general guidance of the Electrical Engineer on all routine issues related to plant maintenance and team management.

Key Relationships:

  • Daily communications regarding plant maintenance and staff issues with Electrical Engineer.
  • Daily co-ordination and cooperation with operations, maintenance and external parties for maintenance, planning and forecasting purposes.
  • Regular communications with the Control Room team for safe working.
  • Communicating with suppliers, contractors, equipment manufacturers and vendors.
  • Service Providers (membrane replacement, manpower provider, scaffolding, overhauling etc).
  • Mirfa 1 Maintenance Team.
  • Contractors and other external stake holder (Transco / Govt entities etc).

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good command of the English language with verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible: willing to work long hours, weekends and be on call if required (periodically).
  • Arabic is an advantage.
  • Full understanding of Engie Company safety rules and practical application.
  • Good Electrical foundation and practical knowledge of how it applies to modern power plant and desalination plant processes.
  • Practical experience of maintaining a wide range of rotating and static equipment gained through hands on experience and formal training.
  • Organizing spares, tools and equipment to carry out maintenance activities.
  • Capability to performs trouble shooting activities as necessary to determine failure conditions and rectifies defects found.
  • Good engineering and practical knowledge of how it applies to lifetime management of major Electrical components associated with desalination processes including pre & post treatment, waste etc.
  • Understanding of maintenance activities associated with defect and planned maintenance programs.

The person is responsible for the management of Human Resources and Internal Communication, in line with the strategy and objectives of the company, in order to provide a high standard of support to other departments. The Sr Accountant is responsible for managing all day-to-day Finance matters including accounting, reporting, treasury, audit, taxation, and other finance activities for the Company. The Sr Accountant assists the CFO in various Project Finance and Corporate Governance matters.

  • Assist in company formation, initial procurement, setting up processes, ERP system implementation, and other departmental setup support as needed from time to time by CFO and PGM.

During O&M Period / post COD of plant:

  • Managing all day-to-day finance matters including:
    • Processing of invoices, payments
    • Getting approval for all invoices and payments
    • Ensuring proper documentation of the transaction and archiving
    • Handling petty cash (national / foreign currency)
    • Preparing bank reconciliations
    • Credit card account settlement
    • Raising of inter-company debit notes quarterly
    • Issue Weekly Cash Position
    • Identify cash usage requirements and place deposits accordingly
    • Assist in preparing Closing schedules
    • Make accrual and other Journal entries as assigned
    • Ensure strict compliance with internal policies and procedures

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience:

Jouw uitdaging

  • Je voert toezichtrondes uit en reageert alert op storingen en alarmen.
  • Je baat de water- en afvalbehandelingsinstallaties uit, zowel vanuit de controlezaal als ter plaatse. Je voert zelfstandig start- en stopoperaties uit. Je regenereert ionenwisselaars met harsbolletjes door ze te spoelen met regeneratievloeistof en stelt de installaties volledig veilig (zowel elektrisch als hydraulisch) voor de uitvoering van onderhoudswerkzaamheden.
  • Je voert zelfstandig een aantal  standaard scheikundige analyses uit en interpreteert deze in functie van het proces.
  • Je doet verbeteringsvoorstellen en je werkt mee aan het opstellen of optimaliseren van uitbatingsprocedures.
  • Jij werkt in een ploeg en rapporteert aan een teamverantwoordelijke.

YOUR CHALLENGE as a Field Technician Generators

As a Field Technician Generators, you will actively participate in various maintenance projects, overhauls and interventions. An extra challenging aspect of the job is that no two days are the same.

  • You will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and performing mechanical maintenance work on industrial generators and auxiliary systems.
  • At the start of a new construction site, you will be involved in the preparation and, together with the expert engineers from our team, determine the approach, planning and scope of the work to be performed.
  • Depending on the project, you will either take on the role of site supervisor or the role of field technician (or both).
  • In the role as site supervisor, you will coordinate and execute and be responsible for determining resources, ordering materials and following up on them correctly and on time.
  • During execution , you will work with a team of technicians consisting of both colleagues and subcontractors.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the work required and constantly ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
  • For unplanned sites or incidents, you will participate in interventions, analyze problems and work hands-on on the generators with the goal of resolving the problem.

YOUR PROFILE as a Field Technician Generators

  • You are mechanically and/or electrically skilled (A2/bachelor/graduate electromechanics, electronics, electrical engineering), experience in generator maintenance is a plus.
  • You are fluent in French and/or Dutch and in English
  • You are flexible in terms of working hours and workplace. You see varying hourly schedules (day, shifts, weekends) as 'part of the job'. You are willing to perform work at our various sites in Belgium and abroad (mainly France and the Netherlands, max. 30%).

Position Summary:

The Field Operator will be responsible for the local operations of the plant to ensure it meets the required availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within strict environmental limits. This will include regular equipment start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers and regular operation/ monitoring, as well as responding to alarms and emergency conditions. The role requires a detailed understanding and practical experience of the technologies associated to operating a modern Gas Turbine Plant, Desalination plant and wide range of auxiliary equipment.

 


Functions/ Task:        

Safety, Quality & Environment

  1. Responsible to ensure compliance of IMS. Perform all operational activities in line with the safety management system and environment management system.
  2. Responsible to perform the assigned duties and other duties in-line with implementation of safety rules.
  3.  Provide monitoring for the ongoing maintenance jobs on assigned areas.
  4. Reporting of unsafe conditions and behaviors.

Plant Operations

  1. Conducts routine plant checks i.e. plant round ups and completion of log sheets.
  2. Perform operational actions under direction from the CRO (i.e. Valve operations, switching on/ off pumps or resetting the local alarms etc) to avoid any abnormal plant operations or to correct existing abnormalities.
  3. Prepare plant for start ups in accordance with approved operations procedure.
  4. Performs plant shut down and extended shut down preservation of plant routines in accordance with approved operations procedure. Performa manual intervention actions during trip conditions and maintain close supervision to ensure and maintains close supervision to ensure safe run down of plant.
  5. Practical application of safety rules performing safe plant isolations from the system to allow routine maintenance activities. De-isolates and restores plant equipment safely to the system.
  6. Perform routine maintenance activity on the plant such as lube oil top-up, filter replacement and other operational activities.
  7. Support CRO during emergency situation.
  8. Carry out the sample analysis of the plant process steam water cycle in cases where chemist is not on-site and on Demin water, distillate, portable water and other samples.
  9. Monitor and evaluates performance of various plant system and equipment.
  10.  Responsible for maintaining safety and housekeeping of the plant.
  11. Initiates routine operational activities.
  12. Complete the field operator’ skill matrix and work as acting CRO and take complete charge of power and desal blocks as CRO.

Maintenance Activities

  1. Perform lube oil top up as required on plant equipment.
  2. Perform routine site inspections on routine basis to regular update plant equipment status.
  3. Carry out dewatering routine in specified areas of the plant as required.

Raising Work Orders Regarding Defects and Abnormal Conditions

  1. Raise service request in system for defects and coordinate with Shift Engineer for approval.
  2. Assistance to maintenance personnel to pinpoint equipment defects when necessary.

Management of Plant Chemicals:

  1. Responsible for changing over of chemical tanks.

Maintaining Water Quality

  1. To ensure the export quality of potable water to meet with WHO guidelines and potable water quality standard set in Agreement.

Policies & Procedures

  1. Follow all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carries out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Communications & Working Relationships.

  1. Daily communication of plant operational issues and defects with the CRO and Shift Engineer and other team members.
  2. Daily co-ordination and cooperation with CRO and Maintenance Staff for routine and emergency operational and maintenance activities.
  3. Follow the shift hand over protocol and communication protocol as per the approved procedures.

Frame Work, Boundries, & Decision Making Authority

  1. The job holder operates under the general guidance of the CRO.
  2. Any extra-ordinary issues arising outside of set policies and procedures are to be referred to the CRO/ Shift In charge for discussion and approval of recommended actions.
