What You Can Expect

The Project Management Senior Advisor position is responsible for providing overall management of projects from initial development through final engineering design, construction and final commissioning of the project and project closeout. This position focuses on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and process upgrade projects for Publice Sector, Industrial, and Water/Wastewater Treatement Plant clients. 

 

As the Project Management Senior Advisor you will work with ENGIE’s Business Development, Operations, Procurement, and Asset Management teams, as well as engineering partners and installation subcontractors. You must have experience managing large, complex, construction projects, preferably design-build. 

 

You’ll be assigned as the primary manager of all phases of a project, with the objective of developing and completing projects on time and within budget, while maintaining quality, safety, and cash management standards and producing strong customer satisfaction.

 

This position is located in Orange, Pasadena, or Riverside, California and reports to the Director of Project Management.

 

General

  • Manage all aspects of complex $10M – $75M+ Engineer / Procure / Construct (EPC) projects, including project development, scoping, contracting, risk management, planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, safety, and client satisfaction
  • Manage the internal project team including project engineers, on-site construction managers and project coordinators, commissioning engineers and other subject matter experts
  • Serve as a primary customer contact during the entire development and implementation process, striving for their complete satisfaction with ENGIE’s services

Project Development

  • Support ENGIE Business Development in generating new business. Attend customer presentations and interviews as needed, including board and council meetings
  • Create, maintain and manage a portfolio of projects
  • Actively manage the project team through regular meetings to assign tasks and responsibilities, and discuss/document project updates, needs and progress

Construction

  • Manage projects to assure each project is delivered within established budgets and schedules
  • Create a procurement plan in collaboration with project team and internal ENGIE procurement
  • Manage the procurement of ENGIE-provided major equipment and associated supply agreements

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a four (4) year degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or environmental engineering; construction management or related field will be considered
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in the public sector, industrial, or municipal Water/Wastewater industries, with a progression of responsibilities including project development and delivery
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated leadership, networking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt in a demanding, ever-changing environment
  • A track record of mentorship and training of project team members

Additional Details

This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; this job will require travel and spending the majority of time on the job site.

This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis.

Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips.

Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; needed ability to drive to site locations.

Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.

This position consists of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions.

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $128,400 – $196,765 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

What You Can Expect

As our Project Management Senior (PM) working in a self-managed team concept, you will be a part of the ENGIE capital projects team based at the University of Iowa in Iowa City Iowa.  Our projects are located on both University campuses and include the University Hospital. As part of this team you will be responsible for managing utility infrastructure capital projects associated with expanding and maintaining the utility system on the campus. Projects range in size from $100,000 to $50M, with completion of each taking the span of 1-5 years.

 

This position is being hired in support of a 50 year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system.  The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, and storm- and wastewater infrastructure.

 

No two days are the same, starting with the development stage  you will be submitting reports and conducting meetings with Team members, subcontractors and stakeholders on a regular basis, providing oversight and sharing updates on projects and planning, solving construction challenges through collaboration  and clearing the path and working towards successful completion. The key measurements of success are successful completion of projects with no health, safety or environmental and public relations,  on time and under budget.  You will be managing contracts for both Design and construction of capital projects within the central plants, and managing project teams made of internal staff, external consultants  and Operations and maintenance staff.

 

Additional duties include the following:

  • Administer contracts to include the development of project specifications, a detailed scope of work and principle contract provisions, working closely with corporate Contracts Management and the Procurement Department
  • Work with the University stakeholders, ENGIE colleagues, and ENGIE contractors, including engineers, architects, construction firms, and other contractors to develop and execute projects
  • Partner with Program Manager and Operations and Maintenance leadership to identify potential projects and develop business justifications

 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • You have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or in a related field from an ABET accredited institution.
  • You will have gained a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the successful management of construction or Maintenance projects in which you gained experience with managing complex projects to successful completion, such as those involving schools, hospitals, manufacturing or universities
  • Possess or have the desire to achieve a PMP Certification
  • You will have experience in fostering and adhering to the highest safety standards, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and the general public
  • You will have gained expertise in developing work packages for execution to include: statement of scope, change management, performance testing, QA/QC Requirements, Parts/Tools, Man-hours, Material Procurement, technical data Sheets, Drawings/Specifications, Task Procedures and job safety plans
  • You will have gained experience creating and giving presentations and professional  communications, using Microsoft Office, Procore, or other project management tools, to create written reports, project updates, and reporting data for all stakeholders including your management team, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • You are experienced with managing the financial and contractual aspects of capital projects
  • You will have demonstrated ability to create a team culture of camaraderie, integrity and trust among the integrated project team members  and exhibits excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other’s ideas and viewpoints and the resolution of conflict situations

About the Role

From the point a development is identified as a project and the budget has been agreed, the Project Manager is expected to look after all aspects of the project from conceptual design, by engaging external consultants and managing the process through the tendering process to contract award. The project manager will then be responsible for delivering the project through construction to completion and operation of the site.

 

The Project Manager will provide guidance and leadership to the team, through all aspects of the project and be the point of contact both internally and externally.

 

Key deliverables will include regular reporting of the project status including, budget, timeline, contractual issues, engagement of external consultants, interaction with governing bodies and monitoring the health and safety.

 

The Project Manager may be expected to handle multiple projects simultaneously and ensure that that reviews are carried out, including financial, risk and contract reviews as required and escalate when needed to the Senior Management Team.

             

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, being able to comprise to achieve win-win agreements.
  • Exceptional organisational, planning, and action plan management skills

The key measurements of success are successful completion of projects with no health, safety or environmental and public relations,  on time and under budget.  You will be managing contracts for both Design and construction of capital projects within the central plants, and managing project teams made of internal staff, external consultants  and Operations and maintenance staff.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other technical field Or,  a Bachelor’s degree (any major) and an additional two (2) years of Project Management experience in industrial projects in lieu of the Engineering / Technical degree
  • You have a minimum two (2) years’ of project management experience managing the scope development, estimates, stakeholder management, contracting, cost development, cost tracking, project execution, commissioning, and closeout of projects
  • You possess or have the desire to obtain a PMP Certification

  • This role requires attendance in the office a minimum of four days a week, or as required by project activities

Compensation

Salary Range: $84,000 – $128,800 USD annually

What You Can Expect

As a Project Management Advisor, your role will involve leading all phases of energy projects, ensuring they’re completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and cash management—all while securing strong customer references. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, you’ll oversee everything from early development through post-construction, including design, procurement, contract negotiations, and project implementation. Assigning responsibilities to the project team and establishing schedules will be key, along with handling technical aspects like scope development, conducting savings analysis, and assessing the feasibility of proposed solutions. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you’ll work closely with the Sales team to support customer presentations and interviews during project development. Partnering with the Legal department, you'll negotiate and prepare customer agreements and change orders, ensuring contractual obligations are met.

 

When it comes to budgeting, maintaining precise records of all cost components will be crucial. Any necessary adjustments will be promptly communicated to your supervisors. Together with the Construction Manager, you’ll establish a comprehensive project schedule, ensuring milestones are met and projects are completed on time. Your coordination with Accounting will ensure timely customer invoicing, and you’ll proactively resolve any payment delays. Compliance with local labor regulations will be part of your responsibility, as will overseeing the completion of monitoring packages and final job close-out.

 

This position will be remote, Illinois and will report to the Project Management Director.
