Job Purpose: |
Employee preforms highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with Electrical Systems. Work involves technical application of electrical principles. |
Key Responsibilities: |
- Repair and maintenance work in a wide range of electrical equipment.
- Installs, services and repairs lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets, and wirings.
- Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
- Installs, repairs, services specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
- Constructs and maintains service equipment.
- Read electrical circuit diagrams.
- Requisitions materials and supplies from stockroom; calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommends purchases and suppliers.
- Transfers primary power from one power source to another.
- Sets poles, strings overhead lines and does overhead line maintenance.
- May do other trades work incidental to electrical work.
- Maintains essential stock of spare parts.
- Responding promptly and efficiently to emergency calls.
- Assist with all emergency services, e.g., Fire Alarms, Lighting, Batteries and Standby Power requirements, inclusive of generators and Fire Fighting System.

Qualifications: |
- Appropriate electrical technical qualifications
- Proven experience as an electrician
- Solid understanding of electrical systems in commercial and industrial buildings
- Ability to handle electrical tools and equipment
- Diploma from a trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship

Other Requirements: |
- Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties
|
Scope and Limits of Authority: |
SCOPE - Can work independently on a wide range of electrical tasks, including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. They can also supervise apprentices.
LIMIT - May not be authorized to design electrical systems or take on large-scale projects without the oversight of a master electrician
