What You Can Expect

As the Operations Manager for our power plant situated in Abbott, TX, you bear the responsibility for overseeing total employment, training, schedules, safety, and the day-to-day financial operations of the site. In your capacity as lead of safety, it is imperative to ensure that all permits and reports are current, valid, and in compliance with both federal and state regulatory agencies. You will be tasked with the management of vendors, subcontractors, maintenance, and consultants, coordinating efforts with third parties. Additionally, you will handle the troubleshooting of Balance of Plant (BOP) switching, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) functions, and communicate with landowners and local communities.

 

Your managerial role extends to leading a team comprising one technician. Utilizing systems like Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), you will monitor daily asset performance and regulatory compliance to meet standards set by organizations such as the National Electrical Renewables Council (NERC). Your responsibilities involve utilizing various computer-based systems, ensuring the timely update and maintenance of all documentation. Collaboration with cross-functional management may be necessary to provide reports on the status, progress, and development of various projects on-site. Additionally, to ensure swift response to emergencies caused by outages, scheduled maintenance, and on-call reporting, it is required that you live within a 50-mile radius of the site.

 

  • Able to provide technical and management support for the design and operations of the wind farm site
  • Must be willing to attain substation technician certification within 12 months of hire date
  • Carries out all responsibilities under environmental legislation to prevent environmental spills
  • Manages a safety program that complies with all Federal and State requirements ensuring the safe operation of the site regarding the public, employees, and equipment
  • Cooperates with internal and third parties including Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) regarding safety and regulatory compliance and responds to their recommendations in a timely manner

 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • High school diploma/ technical degree or equivalent education where you gain knowledge and or experience with leadership, management, communication, organizational, operational and prioritization skills
  • Must have five (5) years’ experience in a related industry where you have experience with industrial electrical equipment, power generations, thermal generations, line, and utility scale equipment
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in leadership or supervisory role of technical, operations or maintenance personnel
  • Working knowledge of wind power generating equipment and technologies and substations to identify, categorize and troubleshoot
  • Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas) as well as work at various heights and in adverse conditions during operations, shutdowns, and in fire/emergency activities
  • Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses
  • Knowledge of using equipment suitable for lifting up to 50 lbs, if necessary

 

 

Additional Details

  • Must have the ability to travel domestically on limited occasions to support other sites.

Compensation 

Salary Range: $86,490.00 – $147,660.00 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE North America is hiring a Battery Storage Technician for our Five Wells Solar project located in Rogers, TX.  

 

Your daily responsibilities begin with performing High Voltage (HV) switching, substation, and HV equipment lockouts and grounding tasks. Demonstrate the consistent use of Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques when solving plant abnormalities and equipment failures. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, and as well as submit on-site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiate work orders for equipment repairs. Perform routine inspections such as, prepare oil analysis samples, safely using tools (e.g hot sticks, multimeter, and IR Camera). Assist with equipment operation training for contractors and other site employees. Manage and coordinate work on-site between different contractors, vendors and BESS service providers ensuring quality work, is completed safely and promptly.

 

  • Actively participate in the behavior-based safety program and ensure every team member and contractor complies with all safety procedures and applicable task-oriented job safety analyses
  • Ensure site safety rules are communicated and adhered to through Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Meetings
  • Demonstrate procedural compliance in all site operation and maintenance activities by utilizing established procedures
  • Ensure site equipment is kept at the highest possible standard maximizing availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability
  • Perform electrical testing using appropriate PPE and procedures

Demonstrate procedural compliance in site operation and maintenance by following established procedures. Facilitate daily work, including report production. What You Can Expect

The Senior Estimator is responsible for estimating Balance of Plant costs (BOP) for wind, solar, and BESS projects. Understanding construction costs is vital to the success of the project and plays a key role during all phases of project development and implementation. The person in this role will provide estimates and pricing information for all facets of renewable project construction.

 

  • Prepare budgetary and indicative BOP construction estimates for large pipeline of wind, solar, and BESS projects by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
  • Develop unit pricing based on production rates and subcontractor input
  • Review and incorporate historical data from estimates, cost data, indexes, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and worker-hour figures
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures
  • Interface with owner, contractor, design team, and project managers to provide cost data regarding project feasibility
  • Review major equipment specifications to determine cost impacts associated with new technology
  • Review third party pricing proposals for accuracy and gaps

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Four-year degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related construction estimating experience

  • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience estimating BOP costs for utility scale wind, solar, and BESS projects
  • Estimating experience with Heavy Bid and other heavy construction related estimating software, electronic cost data, e.g., RSMeans
  • GIS, AutoCAD, or equivalent experience a plus
  • A proven track record of estimating construction project costs
  • Ability to establish and maintain a network or building material suppliers and vendors
  • Ability to review maps, conceptual diagrams, specifications, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Superior Microsoft Software Applications skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
  • Commitment to the advancement of renewable energy solutions across North America

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 10% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record for the use of hire/rental vehicles to drive to site locations as needed

As a Solar Engineer I, you will support all aspects of preliminary site design, energy modeling and site specification efforts for grid-scale solar power systems projects (100MW+), to help drive our renewable energy mission forward in North America.

Every day in this role:

  • Preliminary Design and Optimization: Support efforts for the preliminary design and optimization of grid-scale solar projects (100MW+)
  • Coordination: Work with solar team members, development staff, and project delivery teams to identify project design constraints and requirements
  • Procurement Collaboration: Coordinate with the procurement team to determine the necessary equipment for optimal site design
  • Technical Point of Contact: Serve as the technical point of contact for solar project development
  • Site Production and Optimization: Coordinate and review site production and optimization efforts using various evaluation software (e.g., Sift, PVcase, AutoCAD, pvDesign, Pvsyst)
  • Communication: Effectively communicate technical subject matter to non-technical staff members
  • Industry Trends: Stay updated on changing trends in the solar industry
  • Consultant Management: Assist with scoping, contracting, and managing consultants for design and technical services
  • Conceptual Design: Develop and advise on conceptual design configurations for development pipeline and M&A projects
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Grow expertise in grid-scale solar generation using the company’s tools and processes, and share lessons learned to build institutional knowledge within ENGIE North America
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with ENGIE Engineering teams to leverage local and global in-house experience and knowledge, and function as a team member with all employees of ENGIE North America and Grid Scale Renewables staff

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering,  Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant technical discipline is required
  • Exposure to the solar energy sector, particularly in grid-scale solar project engineering design and optimization, is a plus

  • Familiarity with CAD and GIS software platforms for solar site layouts is preferred
  • Basic understanding of PVsyst or other solar production models for estimating energy production and optimizing solar facilities is beneficial
  • This revision maintains the core requirements but uses more inclusive language to encourage applications from new graduates and those with limited experience. Must be able to communicate complex technical subject matter information to a wide range of audiences verbally and in written communication
