Key activities and competencies

Strategic:

  • Ensure construction activities align with the project contract and timelines.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential construction risks.
  • Promote and integrate sustainability practices within the construction processes.
  •  Develop and implement policies and standards for Construction

  • Monitor and supervise EPC Contractor’s  all construction activities by managing Owner’s PV site team and supporting Construction Director

Operational:

  • Ensure the construction site operates with high standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
  • Promote SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) procedures and guidelines on the construction site.
  • Monitor and supervise EPC Contractor’s implementation of effective construction methods and techniques.
  • Maintain effective monitoring and reporting systems for construction progress and Support validation of EPC progress reports verifying actual works completed onsite and providing accurate progress reports to Project Controls and the Construction Director
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for construction activities.
  • Prepare Site Management procedures
  • Oversee all PV site teams activities to ensure that all technical, contractual and cost information are properly recorded, collated and available for inspection/audits as required by law, regulations and Company policies
  • Identify/Anticipate and mitigate deficiencies and develop solutions to problems encountered during construction
  • Ensure that the Project HSE objectives are met, by identifying areas of risk and applying adequate measures
  • Manage and control the overall construction works throughout construction, field engineering and operation groups
  • Review documents, drawings and material for the realization of the construction works within the established program available
  • Manage the day to day progress of Project execution on the Owner side, ensuring that the Project budget and allocated resources are used in the most efficient and effective way to achieve the Project and Owner’s objectives
  • Ensure that all interfaces are adequately defined, monitored and managed
  • Manage and coordinate the construction works ensuring the adequate information exchange and resolving queries and critical situations
  • Manage the performance and delivery from Main contractors
  • Monitor and coordinate EPC’s preparation for construction completion of defined systems, ensuring readiness for pre-commissioning, testing, and commissioning, in coordination with the Commissioning Manager and Quality Engineer

 

  • Ensure coordination of all interfaces between the PV area and the substation area
  • Involve actively in the qualification process of the subcontractor
  • Involve actively in the qualification process of the EPC key personnel

  • Lead and manage a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary construction team.
  • Ensure adequate staffing for safe and productive construction activities.
  • Organize and coordinate technical training for the construction team.

Planning & Delivery of Work:

  • Ensure construction tasks are scheduled in line with the project goals.
  • Develop and implement plans and procedures for safe construction and timely completion.
  • Approve purchase requisitions and recommendations for construction materials and equipment in liaison with the Construction Director.
  • Chair PV site meetings to discuss construction conditions and plan activities.
  • Ensure that the allocated Owner and Owner Engineer team members are used in the most efficient and effective way to achieve the Project objectives
  • Encourage continuous improvement initiatives to enhance construction processes.
  • Lead construction meetings and design review sessions along with the Owner’s Engineer’s active participation

  • Act independently to prioritize, initiate, resolve, and complete construction actions.
  • Seek, organize, and exchange information for decision making and problem solving in construction.
  • Provide project stakeholders with performance reports and recommendations for modifications.
  • Ensure incident reports with causes and remedial actions are forwarded to management.
  • Utilize data analytics to inform construction decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering.
  • Relevant management qualification

Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in a construction environment, preferably in power plants or large-scale infrastructure projects (including in GCC), with at least 5 years in the capacity of Construction Manager or Site Manager.
  • At least 5 years of experience in large scale (500MW or more) solar project construction

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High Proficiency in English (verbal and written), Arabic desirable but not essential

In order to accelerate its developments in Zambia, ENGIE PowerCorner Zambia (EPCZ) is looking for an Operations & Technical Manager to reinforce the team.

 

Job Purpose/Mission 

 

The Operations & Technical Manager will be responsible for defining, together with the Head of Minigrids Zambia, the strategy of minigrid developments in Zambia, and for steering diverse innovation, technical and commercial projects. He/She will also providing the team with high-quality independent technical advice and assistance on technical and operational viability of new and existing activities within ENGIE PowerCorner Zambia. He/she will work closely with the Managing Director, Commercial Manager, Cluster managers and Financial Manager as well as the Europe-based ENGIE PowerCorner HQ team. The Operations and Technical Manager will be responsible for the technical designs, schedule, procurement, coordination and supervision of all EPC contractors from tendering, construction and maintenance of future mini-grids in Zambia. He/she will work closely with the Technicians to monitor the performance of all installations and maintenance operations.

   

Responsibilities

 

  • General project management and oversight of all EPC contracting, and construction works up to point of commissioning.
  • Participation in project technical design and coordination with Commercial and Financial teams for various tender programs
  • Preparation of Capex estimations and Operations plans/budgets to maintain and improve operations of the each respective site.
  • Engage and influence local stakeholders on best practices for Operational, HSSE implementation and management.
  • Mentor and coach local Technicians in basic and preventive maintenance as well as management of day to day operations of all minigrids
  • Internal and External reporting of Service Quality, HSSE Inspections and overall technical performance of each minigrid.
  • Ensure strict adherence and compliance to HSSE standards determined by the group and engineering standards established locally for minigrids
  • Management of procurement for all Capex and customs authorities

As the Reliability Engineer Advisor based in Houston, Texas within ENGIE North America’s Renewables & Flex Power business unit, your role involves providing engineering supporting within the company’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets across the USA. To complete this, you'll be tasked with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), site upgrades, and improving the overall availability and performance of the operating fleet.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Performance & Reliability Director, your primary duties encompass:

  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and provide technical knowledge for warranty administration
  • Serve as technical liaison between ENGIE and various OEMs
  • Responsible for overseeing various field scopes including performing original field testing, data collection, inspections and interacting with electrical equipment
  • Identify issues through inspection and data analysis, then develop solutions, retrofits, and upgrades to effectively address these issues
  • Utilize insights from the operating fleet to enhance QA processes for new installations

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.  In lieu of education requirements we will accept a combination of years of experience and other education/certification experience for the role
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of engineering or operations experience in power plants, or in wind, solar, or battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Experience with electrical equipment commonly found on BESS sites (PCS, batteries, transformers, breakers/switches, relays, etc. ) with the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics/diagrams
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), National Electrical Testing Association (NETA), and other relevant standards
  • Strong understanding of asset preventative maintenance requirements in a power generation facility
  • Experience understanding electrical safety in a power generation facility
  • Be an action-oriented, self-motivator individual who can lead a team, work independently, and has strong organizational and personal skills
  • Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and implement appropriate solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, with a high degree of accuracy
  • Experience in MS OFFICE, Excel, Word, Project Management systems

Compensation

Salary Range: $113,900 – $174,570 USD annually

What You Can Expect
As the on-site Wind Technician II, at the Jumbo Hill Wind Site in Andrews, TX, you will operate and maintain the site by optimizing wind generation availability and performance through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety and environment compliance. Adaptability is crucial as tasks may vary depending on operational needs and requirements. Your primary responsibilities involve troubleshooting, repairing, reconnecting, and inspecting electrical equipment, including substations and overall site performance.  At this site you will be working with high voltage energized equipment and must follow all safety procedures including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) grounding and other safety precautions. Collaborating with service providers and contractors, you will oversee daily work activities, produce various reports, operate site equipment, and coordinate with local utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs) for switching and curtailments.

 

Ensuring compliance with ENGIE and regulatory agency standards, you'll conduct inspections and recurring checks on site equipment. You'll actively participate in behavior-based safety programs, enforce safety procedures, and conduct orientations and meetings to promote a safe working environment. Alongside routine inspections and serving as the main contact for landowners, you'll manage spare parts inventory, coordinate contractor work, and maintain cleanliness on-site. 
Gaining and maintaining GWO training is required, as well as participating in turbine climbing activities. You'll provide recommendations for operational and maintenance improvements, offer equipment operation training, and utilize Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques to address failures. You will work on computerized work order systems for purchase requisitions and receiving statuses.  From time to time you will be required to support other wind assets during planned outages and emergencies, potentially requiring overnight stays. Furthermore, you'll be part of an on-call rotation and must reside within 50 miles of the site to respond promptly to outages and emergencies.


What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum high school diploma or a diploma in a technical program or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience and knowledge of Wind generation, Power Plant, or Substation Maintenance where you have working knowledge of industrial electrical or substation equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors
  • Must have or be willing to obtain certification as substation technician within twelve (12) months of hire date


Additional Details

  • This is a field position requiring regular travel to client site(s) 
  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite 
  • Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant 
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing 
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies 
  • The position consists of 50% work indoors and 50% work outdoors depending on site needs; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions 
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50lbs with assistance

 

Compensation
Salary Range:  $26.56 - $37.36 USD hourly 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

VOS RESPONSABILITES comme Business Developer Wallonie

  • Vous gérez un portefeuille de projets en énergie renouvelable (principalement éolien) dans différentes phases de développement de l’identification des zones potentielles jusqu’à la phase de construction du projet.
  • Les projets sont extrêmement variés, avec un accent sur les aspects urbanisme et environnement. Vous coordonnez les études techniques, économiques et environnementales, et gérez les demandes d'autorisations et les dossiers :
    • Vous défendez vos projets auprès de fonctionnaires techniques, fonctionnaires délégués et du cabinet ministériel.
    • Vous gérez le développement technique et raccordement au réseau électrique, en étroite collaboration avec le gestionnaire de réseau et l'expert réseau.
    • Vous assurez le développement final du projet en collaboration avec des ingénieurs et des experts afin que la meilleure technologie soit choisie en fonction du site éolien/solaire spécifique.
    • Sur base d’offres engageantes, un business plan est établi que vous présentez devant le comité d'investissement interne au Groupe ENGIE.
    • Vous garantissez ensuite un transfert fluide vers l'équipe se chargeant de la construction et réalisation.
  •  Vous travaillez avec les départements juridique, achats, communication, finances, et entretenez des contacts avec les autorités locales et régionales.
  • Vous jouez un rôle central dans la communication entre les équipes internes pour assurer la cohérence et le succès du projet.
  • Vous faites partie d’une équipe de 5 Business Developers sur la Wallonie et rapportez au Head of Business Development Wallonie.

VOTRE PROFIL comme Business Developer Wallonie

  • Vous disposez d'un Master technique, juridique, commercial ou financier ou d'un niveau d'expérience équivalent.
  • Vous avez une expérience professionnelle dans le domaine de l’urbanisme, environnement ou de l’immobilier et/ou au sein d’une entité publique et/ou dans la gestion de projets techniques industriels (développement et/ou réalisation - construction, électricité et/ou mécanique).
  • Vous coordonnez vos projets en toute autonomie, de la planification au suivi en passant par la gestion du budget, des contrats, des achats et de toutes les parties prenantes au projet.
  • Vous communiquez aisément avec différents interlocuteurs, aimez prendre la parole en public et défendez aisément vos idées et vos projets.
  • Vous êtes mobile et appréciez vous rendre sur les sites en projet dans toute la Wallonie.
