The Structural Engineering team has a vacancy for a passionate Senior Lead Engineer in Structural Engineering for its Infrastructures PWW projects

Our Structural Engineering team is involved in a wide range of projects in collaboration with other Tractebel and ENGIE Group entities, both in Belgium and internationally. The team has about 120 Engineers (Experts, Lead Engineers, Design Engineers, BIM modelers), CAD draftsmen and Assistant in Belgium and in Romania. In Belgium, the Structural Engineering team operates from 4 locations in Belgium (Ghent, Hasselt, Brussels and Namur).

The choice of which Belgian office you want to work for is up to you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage structural engineering projects from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Act as an expert in Structural Engineering and supporting the teams in technical design reviews of other projects of the department
  • Develop and promote the use of BIM and parametric design within the organization.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, geotechnical engineers, and draftsmen.
  • Prepare and present project proposals, offers, and contracts in consultation with the commercial team.
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with Tractebel’s quality system and health & safety rules.
  • Report project progress regularly to the manager.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, actively participating in their training and development.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, responding to their needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate constructively with external partners such as architects, other engineering consultancies, subcontractors, and contractors during the construction phase.
  • Strive for sustainable and efficient engineering solutions.
  • Stay updated with industry standards, guidelines, and developments, sharing knowledge with team members.

 

Profile

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in structural engineering projects related to complex infrastructures (e.g., bridges, tunnels, railways, airports).
  • Proven experience in leading and managing engineering projects.
  • You were ideally involved in all aspects and phases of your projects: sales, contract, competition, design, studies, tender, execution, management, …;
  • Strong knowledge of BIM and parametric design.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Stress-resistant and know how to keep your focus under pressure with a healthy dose of assertiveness and diplomacy
  • Fluent in Dutch; knowledge of English or French is a plus.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Being accountable for  asset development activities including project concept, planning development, environmental assessments, permitting, connection and commercialisation
  • Support development stages from project identification and origination to construction and initial operations to ensure regulatory and planning compliance and also provide support for project acquisitions
  • Managing internal and external resources (including consultants) to support development
  • Negotiating and securing land tenure agreements and management of landowner and stakeholder relationships
  • Leading planning processes to secure necessary statutory project approvals
  • Managing procurement processes in collaboration with ENGIE’s general procurement departments and managers
  • Ownership of the project Assumptions Book that describes the project parameters as they input into the Project Financial Model

 

 About you:

The successful incumbent will have solid experience in the development of renewable power generation assets, including Wind, Solar and BESS assets.  You will have sound influencing and effective communication skills and can balance multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes.  You have gained excellent project management skills, preferably in a matrix management environment and can steer change and work within a changing environment.  

 

This role and the development projects will have functional support through Engie’s multi-disciplinary engineering team, commercial & procurement team, legal team, corporate affairs, as well as a strong community & stakeholder team.

What You Can Expect

As the Ecological Restoration / Vegetation Management Advisor based in Houston, TX, you will ensure that ecological restoration and vegetation management strategies are developed, implemented and effectively maintained across all ENGIE Renewables sites.  You will work closely with the development and delivery teams to identify and implement vegetation management strategies for new projects.  You will be responsible for ensuring site preparation and seeding during the delivery phase and managing the operational phase, including coordinating contractors for mowing, grazing, or other methods. This role requires collaboration across teams to support the success of vegetation management throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Reporting to the VP, Field Operations, your primary duties will encompass:

 

  • Keeping up to date with innovation and industry best practices and acting as subject matter expert in relation to ecological restoration, vegetation management, agrivoltaics (such as sheep grazing), pollinator habitat and other related activities.
  • Ensuring sites remain compliant with regulatory requirements, planning consents and land lease obligations along with any other such requirements. Including the tracking and closure of consent and licensing conditions
  • Conducting ecological restoration related fieldwork, including assessment of site conditions, noxious weed mapping, storm water pollution prevention planning, auditing of restoration works and restoration monitoring to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards
  • Working closing with teams across development, construction and operations and maintenance to develop ecologically minded site restoration strategies / specifications, including seed mixes, biodiversity enhancements, monitoring protocols, and vegetation maintenance plans for use during a project’s planning, construction, and operations phases
  • Drafting technical memos and reports, along with other project support materials as needed
  • Identification and assessment of suitably qualified and experienced vegetation management contractors, drafting of scopes along with the tendering, letting and day to day management of contracts
  • Communicating effectively regarding the scope and schedule of restoration and vegetation management activities to be performed, onsite along with ongoing monitoring and maintenance required by site teams
  • Assessment and approval of weed abatement treatments for use on site including pesticides and herbicides.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in restoration ecology, natural resource management, environmental science, conservation biology, or a closely related discipline; In lieu of the educational requirement, we will accept a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industry experience in vegetation management & ecology restoration

As our Scheduling Advisor, you will be the primary scheduling expert / resource for project managers of major capital improvement projects for campus energy systems and new business development related to new partnerships with universities or commercial and industrial entities. These energy systems encompass the production and distribution of electricity, chilled water, heating hot water, and steam, along with the distribution of natural gas.

 

Everyday you will support our Major Capital Projects team by delivering accurate and comprehensive schedules, setting standards, and defining the processes used to monitor, update, and analyze schedules to enable successful development and execution.

 

  • For business development projects or acquisitions, this role will coordinate with the Major Projects team composed of contracts managers, project managers, engineering, and project management office.

 

  • For projects at existing partnerships, this role will liaise with the other members of the Capital Projects Team (contracts team, project management team, and engineering team) including, but not limited to, Georgetown University in Washington, DC, Iowa University in Iowa City, IA and Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.

What You’ll Bring

  • You possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, technical discipline, construction management, or a related field
  • You have a minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in project scheduling; 3 years of experience with Primavera P6
  • You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for project scheduling, assisting Program / Project Managers with analysis and critique of schedules provided by Contractors, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and other contracted parties; include third party provided schedule information in the project schedules to develop integrated master project schedule, from conceptual design, through detailed design, procurement, construction, and start-up/commissioning project stages
  • You will advise Program / Project Managers to understand all project tasks, task durations, and predecessor/successor relationships; support in development of standard sub-schedules as appropriate for groups of activities, such as commissioning
  • You have experience developing comprehensive project schedules for utility and power generation projects, including key milestones, definition of critical path activities, key interfaces with Operations & Maintenance and interfaces with other projects, accounting for any Client restrictions.
  • You will develop and maintain project milestones template(s) for various project sizes to support business development and major capital project opportunities. Develop and maintain project status dashboards to alert teams to potential schedule deviations.
  • You will track historical key performance metrics of past projects and develop lessons learned repository; and drive improvements within the organization to build best in class schedule management function
  • You will standardize the schedule activities and milestones to align with our contracting strategy and utilize our existing and procure platforms to establish executive reports

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Operations, Distributed Solar and Storage, your primary duties encompass:

 

  • Control that projects are delivered on time, on cost with the proper documentation and compliance
  • Report on operational and financial aspect of the project development from origination of the lead to the start of the solar/battery plant
  • Interconnect the various team to insure respect of the processes, and control the associated risks
  • Be a subject matter expert of the various key digital platforms (Salesforce, SAC, Procore, document management, trackers…) aka the Project Management Information System (“PMIS”)
  • Maintain the written process & process training based on the Standard Operating Procedure

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in financial reporting,  project controls or project management
  • Strong computer skills (Advanced Excel proficiency required)
  • Knowledge of SAP (S4, Analytical Cloud, Fiori) and Salesforce
  • Knowledge of Power Bi
  • Experience within the renewable energy industry; specifically, photovoltaic solar arrays and/or battery energy storage systems
  • Must possess strong analytical, initiative, adaptability, hands-on, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills are key for cross-functional collaboration and exposure to senior leadership and major customer
  • Ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced work environment.

Compensation

The Project Manager (PM) Senior – Advisor is responsible for providing overall management of the design, construction, commissioning, and execution of multiple utility scale renewable projects throughout the US.  The PM Sr. Advisor will be renewable technology agnostic and responsible for managing execution of multiple engineering, construction, and/or procurement contracts.  The PM Sr. Advisor will work with our internal and external teams, and subcontractors, to oversee the design of the project and will work with our on-site Construction Monitoring team to manage and monitor the work.  THE PM Senior Advisor provides training and mentoring for assigned team members and others in the Delivery group, as well as the on-site Construction Management Team. Additionally, this role will build, foster, and maintain a collaborative working environment within the Project Team.

 

  • Utilize experience, knowledge, and leadership skills to expertly guide execution of assigned renewable projects to successfully meet or exceed expectations
  • Manage the Project Team including the Contractors, the Owner-Engineer, the on-site Construction Monitoring Team and other Project administration staff.  The on-site team may include a staff of up to 10 persons including site management, safety, logistics, and quality control
  • Conduct Weekly Meetings including Design Reviews, Coordination with the local Utility (RTO’s) and ERCOT (ISO’s), and Site Coordination
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for Progress, Safety and Quality
  • Manage Construction and Procurement Contracts, Invoices, Change Order Requests, Submittals, RFI’s. and prepare Cost Forecast Reports
  • Assist with pre-construction activities and with the management of the Project Schedule and Schedule Updates
  • Assist with developing and implementing the Inspection, Testing, Commissioning Plans, and Document Controls Processes
  • Manage the Interconnection Process and Project Close-Out

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field required

  • Minimum of 10 years of Project Management Experience constructing grid scale renewable projects or complex construction projects
  • Minimum of five (5) years of onsite construction experience with grid scale renewable projects or complex construction projects strongly
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills with proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Construction Processes and Sequencing
  • Hands on Experience with Tools and Equipment
  • Leadership and Problem-Solving skills with the ability to lead and adapt in a demanding, ever-changing environment
  • Collaborative approach to getting the work done
