What You Can Expect

As a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technical Senior Advisor, you'll work to develop energy storage solutions that reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency by collaborating with suppliers, manufacturers, and other industry stakeholders to leverage technical best practices and innovations. You will be responsible for conducting peer reviews to validate project viability and ensure best practices are adhered to and ensure compliance with all applicable ENGIE policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines for BESS. You will support project teams in technology selection, design, engineering, execution, and optimization of BESS projects in various geographies, ensuring successful BESS industrialization and standardization at ENGIE.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related fields in which you have gained a solid understanding of energy related engineering
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of industry experience and 3 years of technical knowledge base of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design and deployment focused on Li-Ion technology
  • Experience in BESS safety, and project deployment (contracting, construction, commissioning)
  • Provide technical knowledge on BESS design, engineering, execution, operations & maintenance
  • Support project teams with battery technology selection, sizing, and system integration
  • Recommend improvements to enhance availability, performance, reliability, and lifespan of storage solutions

 

Additional Details

Compensation

Salary Range: $146,300 – $224,135 USD annually

What You Can Expect

As a Power Grid Modeling and Forecasting Advisor, you will report to Congestion Trading Director and will develop long term grid scenarios for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) footprint and forecast nodal price curves using production cost modeling tools.

 

  • Develop and execute appropriate scenario studies pertinent to the period of study and systematically analyzing the results
  • Execute production cost models - Day-Ahead Locational Market Clearing Prices Analyzer (Dayzer) by systematically analyzing and updating the inputs as appropriate
  • Develop systematic and repeatable approach to analyze and form fundamental views with respect to macro-trends
  • Analyze and determine drivers of Day Ahead and Real Time congestion market outcomes based on macro-fundamentals (supply, demand, renewables) and mirco-fundamentals (specific transmission and generation outage impacts, bids, facility limits)
  • Identify model gaps by calibrating the model results to market outcomes and determine appropriate solutions
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to the enhance fundamental trading
  • Participate in Independent System Operator (ISO) meetings as appropriate and assess commercial impacts
  • Collaborate with IT personnel to maintain and improve relevant tools
  • Develop and maintain dispatch and flow models, communicating fundamental developments and views to stakeholders
  • Build models to track market fundamentals and regularly benchmark against actualizations

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Master’s degree in which you completed courses in relevant disciplines (Engineering/Business/Finance)
  • A minimum of seven years professional experience
  • A minimum of five years of grid planning or wholesale electricity market experience in ERCOT or relevant ISO
  • Strong understanding of power grid optimization, powerflow shift factors, line-outage distribution factors and contingency analysis
  • Strong analytical skills

The Project Developer supports a broad range of pre-construction development activities on projects within ENGIE’s portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the United States and Canada. In this role you will support the development team and work on all aspects of early to late-stage project development, such as local, state, and federal permitting, public and stakeholder engagement, public hearings, environmental site assessment, and project financing due diligence support.

 

The Project Developer will work closely with land and greenfield teams, interconnection experts, as well as pre-construction, engineering and project delivery departments, and other aspects of wind, solar, and storage project development to fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America.

 

  • Everyday in this role the Project Developer will support the development team in order to:
  • Manage and drive development activities of utility-scale solar, wind and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction
  • Manage all aspects of environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SME)
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation
  • Research new industry developments, tax incentives, and technologies
  • Manage permit application preparation and attend public permitting hearings
  • Manage agency and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) submittals and interactions on local, state/provincial, and federal level
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events
  • Maintain database tracking project progress
  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) discussions and document preparation
  • Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees
  • Review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted

  • Review all BESS project permits, agreements, licenses, registrations, and contracts (including ISO and TSP requirements) to identify all data to be collected and activities to be completed and documented during commissioning.
  • Ensure all required submittals are made and reviews are completed in a timely
  • manner by the relevant stakeholders 
  • Review all relevant QA/QC documentation during project construction to identify issues  and adjust the Commissioning Plan during project execution.
  • Work with the stakeholders internally and externally as necessary to correct project work prior to the start of commissioning activities or to adapt the commissioning activities to the changed project conditions
  • Work with the Project Stakeholders to ensure the projects are properly closed out, and issues/claims are addressed and, ensure that the commissioning team prepares and submits completed handover documentation for the operations and maintenance managers for their teams to participate in the Projects continuous improvement and return on experience activities, and lead those activities with respect to startup, commissioning, and testing activities

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in management, engineering, science, or technology related field 
  • A minimum of five (5) years working experience with a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience related to the development, design, and construction of complex energy/electrical projects and a minimum of three (3) years of direct involvement in the commissioning phase of complex energy/electrical projects
  • Strong Interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead, manage, and direct multi-discipline teams during the commissioning phase of a BESS or other complex electrical project
