The team ‘Radiological Characterization’ is in charge of all activities related to :

• the radiological characterization of building, structure and equipment in a nuclear installation through measurements and sampling campaigns;
• the final radiological characterization of operational and dismantling waste (packages) produced during operation, post-operation and dismantling phases of a nuclear installation. This including, among others, the set up of strategies/methodologies for the characterization processes, the selection and procurement of measurement systems to characterize radioactive and (un)conditional release waste (packages), the definition of scaling factors/activities for different waste streams.

These activities are carried out for Electrabel as well as for other national and international Clients. It provides high-level engineering and consultancy services. The team interacts with the other teams of the Competence Centre (CC), with the other CC’s and the other Products of the Business Entity  Belgium Nuclear. Its members work in close relationship with the final Client and interact with the Safety Authorities and the radioactive Waste Management Agencies.

YOUR JOB

As ‘Nuclear Engineer Radiological Characterization’, you are responsible for the sound roll-out of all the projects, tasks and responsibilities entrusted to you. In close collaboration with your colleagues and your team lead, you contribute to the preparation of bids, the Engineering Studies and the projects in the field of Radiological Characterization.

Your responsibilities are:

•       - conducting radiological characterization studies according to the needs and the expertise level expected by the dedicated authorities;

•       - developing and applying strong capabilities with computer codes such as MicroShield, MCNP or RayXpert but also in-house Python calculation codes;

• Contract development: Assist in the development, review, and negotiation of contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors involved in the project.

Profile

• Experience with B360, ACC, Navisworks Manage, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Excellent understanding of Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) services.
• Ability to coordinate MEP services within a 3D modelling environment.
• Experience working in a data center design environment (advantageous).
• Proficiency in G Suite applications (advantageous).
• Experience working in a global business environment (advantageous).
• Proficiency in French and English.

Context:

Within GEMS, the Risk Expertise Center’s purpose is to, on one hand, advise and help the Business Platforms in optimizing their activities making sure it respects all the rules and limits, and on the other hand, to manage, monitor and control the risks that GEMS is facing globally in its commercial and energy management activities.

In the context of its re-organization, the EC Risk has created new Transversal Risk functions with the general objectives to provide a sound global risk framework through the design of the global risk mandates and policies, and to harmonize and spread best practices across all GEMS local development areas.

Role:

As Transversal Risk Methodology Expert, you will report to the Transversal CRO and will be in charge of:

• Model validation: you are accountable for pricing model validations across all entities outside of EGM and you will check compliance with MtM rules when migrating a book from S-P to MtM perimeter;
• Cartography: you are responsible and accountable for the cartography of authorized products on MtM perimeter outside of EGM, and you maintain a clear list of validated metrics for each scope;
• Model user support for market /credit / liquidity risk metrics outside of EGM;
• New Business process outside of EGM : you ensure transversality of the market and credit risk framework across GEMS, in particular for countries;
• Liquidity risk: you coordinate the EGM Risk Methodology Core Team work as designer of the Liquidity Risk metrics for the scope outside of EGM;
