Purpose of the Job 

Working as part of a team of 12, your main purpose will be to achieve an acceptable, managed and mitigated level of exposure within the business to costs and risks associated with commodity and third party charges, that simultaneously provides a competitive price in the market; 

  • To recover revenues in line with costs (over time and in value). 
  • To provide appropriate level of query management and support to the wider business in respect of Costing & Pricing activity for a catalogue of existing products as well as new propositions for gas/power and upstream/downstream. 
     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate self-generated analysis to senior management 
  • Make proposals and recommendations for changes to pricing policy and risk management protocols to senior management and influence their decisions  
  • Develop, maintain and improve models for cost and risk exposure analysis, cost forecasting, premium determination and pricing calculations, ensuring pricing friction is kept to target levels. 
  • Proactively develop and implement solutions to pricing issues (and regularly analyse to detect new issues) including improving existing systems and processes or developing new. 
  • Assist in the definition of pricing policies and methodologies to help ensure a framework that is effectively implemented and operated across the business, including leading the pricing input to product development. 
  • Maintenance of pricing related data in relevant systems. 
  • Ensure appropriate communication to management and the wider business of issues/solutions, changes and updates. 
  • Monitoring the regulatory landscape and assessing the impacts of industry change on pricing methodologies and cost forecasts, acting as subject matter expert for implementation and communication to stakeholders. 
  • Support Finance teams with the calculation and provision of Mark to Market reporting for all third party costs as part of the Full Year Forecast, Mid Term Audit and annual Budget. 
  • Understanding and management of economic, market and regulatory issues impacting on Pricing.  Communicating and contributing to the management and resolution of any issues. 
  • Provide information and Key Business Indicator (KBI)/Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data to allow management of costs and charges, and implement action plans to ensure they are maintained within acceptable parameters. 
  • Work with wider business to ensure good stakeholder engagement and customer service as well as identifying issues, communicating them and enabling a resolution. 
  • Participate in and support programmes and projects providing role of Subject Matter Expert.  Lead smaller business projects to implement new processes / improvements 
  • Adherence to and the development of internal processes, policies and risk frameworks.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VBA 
  • PowerBI 
  • SQL 
  • Python 
  • Proven experience of developing Jupyter notebooks and .py scripts for ad-hoc reporting and for routine tasks  
  • Ability to demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving, especially the use of creativity to resolve novel problems to the business’s advantage  
  • Ability to present technical information to a range of stakeholders  
  • Knowledge of commodity markets 
  • Knowledge of retail pricing policies/methodologies and systems. 
  • Knowledge of elements that contribute to final delivered prices and cost items incurred by business in course of gas and electricity supply
  • The ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification in an analytical discipline, or

Context:

Within GEMS, the Risk Expertise Center’s purpose is to, on one hand, advise and help the Business Platforms in optimizing their activities making sure it respects all the rules and limits, and on the other hand, to manage, monitor and control the risks that GEMS is facing globally in its commercial and energy management activities.

In the context of its re-organization, the EC Risk has created new Transversal Risk functions with the general objectives to provide a sound global risk framework through the design of the global risk mandates and policies, and to harmonize and spread best practices across all GEMS local development areas.

Role:

As Transversal Risk Methodology Expert, you will report to the Transversal CRO and will be in charge of:

 

  • Model validation: you are accountable for pricing model validations across all entities outside of EGM and you will check compliance with MtM rules when migrating a book from S-P to MtM perimeter;
  • Cartography: you are responsible and accountable for the cartography of authorized products on MtM perimeter outside of EGM, and you maintain a clear list of validated metrics for each scope;
  • Model user support for market /credit / liquidity risk metrics outside of EGM;
  • New Business process outside of EGM : you ensure transversality of the market and credit risk framework across GEMS, in particular for countries;
  • Liquidity risk: you coordinate the EGM Risk Methodology Core Team work as designer of the Liquidity Risk metrics for the scope outside of EGM;

What You Can Expect

As a Power Grid Modeling and Forecasting Advisor, you will report to Congestion Trading Director and will develop long term grid scenarios for the California Independent System Operator (CAISO)/Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) footprint and forecast nodal price curves using production cost modeling tools.

 

  • Develop and execute appropriate scenario studies pertinent to the period of study and systematically analyzing the results
  • Execute production cost models - Day-Ahead Locational Market Clearing Prices Analyzer (Dayzer) by systematically analyzing and updating the inputs as appropriate
  • Develop systematic and repeatable approach to analyze and form fundamental views with respect to macro-trends
  • Analyze and determine drivers of Day Ahead and Real Time congestion market outcomes based on macro-fundamentals (supply, demand, renewables) and micro-fundamentals (specific transmission and generation outage impacts, bids, facility limits)
  • Identify model gaps by calibrating the model results to market outcomes and determine appropriate solutions
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to the enhance fundamental trading
  • Participate in Independent System Operator (ISO) meetings as appropriate and assess commercial impacts
  • Collaborate with IT personnel to maintain and improve relevant tools
  • Develop and maintain dispatch and flow models, communicating fundamental developments and views to stakeholders
  • Build models to track market fundamentals and regularly benchmark against actualizations

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Master’s degree in which you completed courses in relevant disciplines (Engineering/Business/Finance etc.)
  • A minimum of seven years professional experience
  • A minimum of five years of grid planning or wholesale electricity market experience in CAISO/WECC or relevant ISO
  • Strong understanding of power grid optimization, powerflow shift factors, line-outage distribution factors and contingency analysis
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
  • Proficient in coding such as Structured Query Language (SQL) and Python

Context:

As Short Term Trader, you will play a pivotal role within the Short Term Trading desk, organized within the Short term Power as a Service.

The mission of Short Term Trading is to maximize  the revenues of  the ENGIE  power portfolio within the CWE region and maximize the value of intraday trading activities in the developing pan-European Intraday markets. As an intraday trader, your key responsibility is to multitask and be able to take decisions on a very short time frame based on a large dataset.

These activities are executed within a sub team of 9 people organized continuous 24/7 and taking up both Trading & optimization activities.

You will interact very closely with the Algorithmic trading development team.

 

Role:

In the role of Short Term Trader, you will be responsible for: 

  • Maximizing the CWE power portfolio revenues in intra-day, including renewable management, sales exposure and asset flexibility
  • Leveraging on our market expertise in order to maximize the value of our trading activities.
  • You will act as a single window to the intraday Market in order to cover the real time physical needs of our clients and re-optimize the asset portfolio against the intraday power market prices.
  • Develop strategies to maximize revenues and minimize the costs for our clients over the different time horizons of the short term chain
  • Develop cross-maturity models which can serve the portfolio of assets, intermittency, DSM and develop efficient strategies to capture trading opportunities on those different markets.
  • Delivering 3rd party services for external Customers.
  • Ensuring correct and timely delivered reporting of portfolio and market activities.
  • You work in a 24/7 shift system.

You will report on a regular basis to the Head of Short Term Trading.

What You’ll Bring

Downstream Originator- Advisor

What You Can Expect

As our Downstream Originator Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our customer base with a focus on sustainability objectives to advance ENGIE’s goal of reducing its portfolio carbon intensity. Your primary responsibility will involve building a pipeline of customers with complex structured renewable energy supply needs. In this role, you will utilize planning, communication, and development skills to identify, approach, and successfully market to a sophisticated customer base. This position is based in Houston, TX and reports to the Downstream Origination Director.

 

  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective customers seeking complex renewable energy solutions
  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on Data Centers
  • Create and implement strategic plans to approach and capture key customers within the market
  • Collaborate closely with upstream origination, structuring, risk management, and credit departments to ensure smooth transaction execution
  • Lead negotiations with customers and partners, leveraging strong commercial acumen to secure and close deals, while also nurturing and managing key stakeholder relationships

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in the renewable energy industry or related field
  • You are adept at understanding and negotiating complex transactions within renewable energy markets, staying informed about trends and regulations
  • You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, effectively conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • You hold a proven track record in strategic planning and execution, identifying and seizing market opportunities
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills, working effectively with internal teams to align business strategies and ensure transaction success, alongside excellent problem-solving abilities

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy with a minimum of four (4) days working in office. For candidates residing in remote cities, occasional travel to our Houston, TX office location is required, with a minimum of 1 week per month
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 20% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $128,400 – $179,655 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

Contexte:

Au croisement du centre d’expertise Global Market Analysis (GMA), de la business platform Gas Supply & Trading (GST) et de la business platform LNG, notre équipe se compose d’analystes du marché du gaz (Europe et GNL) et de data scientists. En interaction constante avec nos collègues météorologues et analystes des marchés de l’électricité, nous travaillons en salle de marché et aidons les traders à optimiser la valeur des actifs du groupe tout en assurant que nos clients soient livrés en toutes circonstances.

 

A travers le gaz, nous contribuons également à la stabilité du système électrique et à garantir la sécurité d’approvisionnement énergétique dans son ensemble. Aujourd’hui majoritairement fossile, le gaz est amené à devenir de plus en plus décarboné et participer de manière essentielle à la transition énergétique. Nous recherchons un(e) stagiaire pour contribuer à pérenniser et scénariser  un modèle de forecasting de l’équilibre offre-mondial du marché mondial du GNL. Ce modèle est central dans l’activité de l’équipe. Vous serez amené(e) à plonger en profondeur dans le fonctionnement et la data du marché mondial du GNL, extrêmement divers et dynamique, tout en approfondissant vos compétences en programmation Python. Ce stage est aussi l’occasion pour vous de vivre la situation énergétique actuelle sans précédent au cœur d’une des principales salles de marché européennes.

 

Démarrage souhaité : Quatrième trimestre 2024 pour 6 mois

 

Rôle:

 

  • Moderniser et fiabiliser un modèle d’équilibre offre-demande du marché mondial du GNL
  • Proposer et implémenter le cas échéant des améliorations de modélisation
  • Automatiser, fiabiliser et tester les flux de données
  • Contribuer à formuler des recommandations d’action pour le trading

The Power Marketing Analyst will work as a supporting key member of the Power Marketing team within the Utility-Scale Renewable Development business. This role will support commercial offtake and project marketing efforts to customers for ENGIE’s project portfolio of wind, solar and battery storage projects. This role will support identifying and analyzing business opportunities and RFPs, actively participating in go/no-go decisions, and leading and coordinating ENGIE’s proposal preparation efforts in response to RFPs.   • Manage RFP proposal process in response to a high-volume of simultaneous RFPs to utility and commercial customers as well as working cross-functionally with teams in support of the bids & strategy
  • Create and maintain ENGIE proposals and external marketing materials provided to customers
  • Manage and continually update ENGIE CRM for opportunities
  • Develop and maintain, with other groups, commercial and competitive intelligence
  • Remain updated of renewable energy opportunities in North America and the national industry trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities

 

 

What You’ll Bring

What You Can Expect

As a Power Grid Modeling and Forecasting Advisor, you will report to Congestion Trading Director and will develop long term grid scenarios for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) footprint and forecast nodal price curves using production cost modeling tools.

 

  • Develop and execute appropriate scenario studies pertinent to the period of study and systematically analyzing the results
  • Execute production cost models - Day-Ahead Locational Market Clearing Prices Analyzer (Dayzer) by systematically analyzing and updating the inputs as appropriate
  • Develop systematic and repeatable approach to analyze and form fundamental views with respect to macro-trends
  • Analyze and determine drivers of Day Ahead and Real Time congestion market outcomes based on macro-fundamentals (supply, demand, renewables) and mirco-fundamentals (specific transmission and generation outage impacts, bids, facility limits)
  • Identify model gaps by calibrating the model results to market outcomes and determine appropriate solutions
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to the enhance fundamental trading
  • Participate in Independent System Operator (ISO) meetings as appropriate and assess commercial impacts
  • Collaborate with IT personnel to maintain and improve relevant tools
  • Develop and maintain dispatch and flow models, communicating fundamental developments and views to stakeholders
  • Build models to track market fundamentals and regularly benchmark against actualizations

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Master’s degree in which you completed courses in relevant disciplines (Engineering/Business/Finance)
  • A minimum of seven years professional experience
  • A minimum of five years of grid planning or wholesale electricity market experience in ERCOT or relevant ISO
  • Strong understanding of power grid optimization, powerflow shift factors, line-outage distribution factors and contingency analysis
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
  • Proficient in coding such as Structured Query Language (SQL) and Python
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques
