Our intern located at the University of Iowa campus in Iowa city will be learning how to safely treat drinking water at our Grade IV Water Treatment facility where we treat both surface and ground sourced water. The intern will learn to  perform clarification and lime softening methods and will  also utilize reverse osmosis and activated carbon treatment processes. The minimum certification required to independently operate the University of Iowa Water Plant is a Class II Water Operator Certification. The student employment program at the Water Plant will be aimed toward helping students achieve a Water Operator Certification.  As part of your training  you will learn how to properly test water, and to understand the results.  You will also learn the regulatory basis for water quality requirements, and effluent / by-product disposal requirements.

 

Daily, you will learn new tasks in our treatment process. You will take samples and learn to adjust chemicals (automated) based on  the chemical properties of the water. You will be monitoring SCADA screens and learning how the plant is supposed to operate, as well as troubleshooting equipment.  You’ll conduct walk-throughs of the plant checking on equipment and logging test results and findings collected.

 

We are very flexible during the school year you can come in and train during any of our operating shifts, gaining hours and operational experience.  You will work rotating shifts on assigned weekends ( we operate three shifts).

What You Can Expect

ENGIE North America is hiring a Solar Technician for our Solar Site located near Temple, TX.  

 

Your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems and repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, and as well as submit on-site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiate work orders for equipment repairs.

 

  • Coordination of high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts and grounding
  • Adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings
  • While you will primarily work independently on-site, there will always be a nearby technician for safety support; the site's team comprises of a site manager, a Balance of Plant technician, and the solar technician. You will also be a part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program where you have learned AC/ DC electrical theory, understand reading blue prints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Solar generation sites, Wind generation sites
  • Manufacturing or Mining operations, or Controls & Industrial Maintenance
  • Must have or be willing to obtain certification by AVO as substation technician within 12 months of hire date
  • Capacity to be on call as deemed necessary by supervisor

 

 

Additional Details

  • This is a field position requiring daily travel to client site(s)
  • Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant

  • Vei comunica imediat către șeful ierarhic direct/ șeful de formație/ CSE/ CAD/ SE (după caz) orice disfuncționalitate depistată în cadrul sistemului de distribuție a gazelor naturale sau orice altă anomalie și vei acționa în vederea scoaterii din pericol sau a remedierii conform sarcinilor și instrucțiunilor de lucru specifice.
  • Vei identifica probleme ce pot surveni în sistemul de distribuție a gazelor naturale din zona ta de competență și vei propune soluții de rezolvare ale acestora.
  • Vei verifica sudurile efectuate și în cazul apariției unor neetanseităti vei lua măsurile necesare pentru remedierea lor.
  • Vei respecta condițiile impuse de documentația tehnică, vei alege judicios materialul de adaos, cât și regimul de lucru (tensiune, intensitate, viteză de sudură, timp de sudare, presiune, timp de răcire, etc.).
  • Vei respecta regulile de securitate ale companiei și cele legislative, precum și procedurile și instrucțiunile de lucru interne.
  • Vei asigura buna colaborare în relația cu clienții, precum și cu operatorii economici autorizați care execută lucrări în cadrul sistemelor de distribuție a gazelor naturale, firmele de construcții care execută lucrări asupra structurii rutiere, pentru a nu deteriora rețeaua de distribuție gaze naturale și pentru a nu afecta funcționalitatea elementelor de control.
  • Vei urmări lucrările realizate de terți în zona de siguranță a rețelei de distribuție, modalitățile de lucru și obligațiile pe care aceștia trebuie să le respecte atunci când realizează astfel de lucrări.
  • Vei colecta și vei depozita selectiv deșeurile generate în urmă activităților desfășurate și pe cele de la sediul unității organizaționale.
  • Vei răspunde de calitatea, legalitatea, confidențialitatea și conținutul lucrărilor pe care le vei executa.

Responsabilitati specifice, in functie de autorizare:

  • Vei pregăti echipamentele și materialele în vederea sudării în OL (generator sudură,trusa de sudură, butelii de oxigen și acetilenă, accesorii, dispozitiv de tăiat cu role, aliniatoare etc.).
  • Vei executa prinderea prin puncte de sudură a pieselor și subansamblelor, în locuri greu accesibile, precum și a profilelor de diferite grosimi.
  • Vei executa lucrări de tăiere cu flacăra oxiacetilenica a pieselor cu configurație diferită confecționate din tablă sau oțel carbon, de încălzire cu flacăra oxiacetilenica a tablelor, a țevilor, a profilelor și pieselor în vederea îndepărtării, îndoirii, borduirii, pasuirii și suprapunerii etanșe, de încărcare cu sudură a suprafețelor uzate, de îmbinare a țevilor prin sudură, de confecționare a ecliselor, a nervurilor, a rasuflatorilor.
  • Vei realiza integritatea suprafețelor încălzite și delimitarea lor clară, tăierea perfect perpendiculară și coaxialitatea pieselor de sudat.
  • Te vei ocupa de curățarea suprafețelor de sudură ale țevilor și fitingurilor (orice eventual reziduu trebuie înlăturat), precum și de alinierea extremitatilor țevilor.

 

Experiență, calificări, cunoștințe și abilități:

  • Școală generală;
  • Curs calificare în meseria de sudor obligatoriu;
  • Autorizație ISCIR sudor – reprezinta avantaj;
  • Experiență minimum 1 an în exploatarea sistemului de distribuție de gaze naturale – reprezinta avantaj;
  • Cunoașterea Legislației în domeniu, normelor tehnice în vigoare, Notelor interne, procedurilor și instrucțiunilor de lucru specifice sistemului de distribuție gaze naturale (Mentenanță Preventivă, Mentenanță Corectivă, Tehnic Clientela);
  • Exigență și rigoare profesională atestată și prin ,,Autorizația de sudor”;
  • Aptitudinea de a transmite și recepta cu ușurință informațiile în scris și verbal;

What You Can Expect

As our Construction Management, II (CM) at The University of Iowa you will have the critical role of managing safe efficient construction projects across the University of Iowa Campus.  These projects are focused on Energy and Utility improvements and are located on the Main and Oakdale campus and include the University Hospital.

 

This position is being hired in support of a 50 year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system. The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, and storm and wastewater infrastructure.

 

No two days will be the same, you will be conducting meetings with employees, subcontractors and the University or other stakeholders, preparing and executing Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans for Capital Improvement and efficiency projects, this includes provisions for site access and security credentials or traffic control to the work areas. Before breaking ground, you will be walking job sites and coordinating with GIS analysts and locators to make sure buried utilities are properly identified and that construction work and job safety plans take these potential hazards into account. During construction phase you will be walking the jobsites checking on safety and project completion, consulting with Engineers, Contractors, and Project Management ensuring that the project meets standards and code, conforms to our approved specifications and drawings. A key part of the role will involve communicating with project stakeholders on the progress, issues and concerns and to work through them collaboratively. When the project work involves taking a service outage, which happens often, you’ll need to coordinate the outage with stakeholders well in advance using established processes. Every step of the way, you’ll be expected to provide a QA/QC oversight of the work, to ensure the work meets specifications and passes required inspections.

 

As the project wraps up, you will lead the punch list and commissioning processes.

  • Support bidder site visits during the contracting phase and manages Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Support cost estimation and scheduling for projects in development/design
  • Support the Project Manager with Technical/Commercial oversight Including:
    • Review of change requests, directives
    • Review of monthly payment applications from Contractors and Construction Administrators
  • Opine on constructability through the review of Contractor plans, determining if special operator access or maintenance provisions are required
  • Provide field input to assist the project manager in tracking and reporting of schedule and budget performance during the construction phase
  • Partner with project engineers to develop a project procedures manual, providing the framework for construction addressing mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation & controls and administrative fundamental requirements

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You will have  a minimum of a high school diploma  or GED and two (2) years of experience in the successful management of industrial or municipal construction projects in which you gained a practical understanding of design, construction and operations of thermal plants and distribution
  • You will have experience in fostering and adhering to the highest safety standards, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and the general public
  • You will have demonstrated ability to create a team culture of camaraderie, integrity and trust among the integrated project team members  and exhibits excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other’s ideas and viewpoints and the resolution of conflict situations
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and ensure performance expectations and resultant outcomes are met
  • Experience in evaluating request for quotes / request for proposals in industrial construction environments
  • Experience in construction projects, working at sites, managing subcontractors, contracts administration and change management 
  • You will have gained experience creating presentations and professional  communications, using Microsoft Office, Procore, or other Project Management tools, to create written reports, project updates, and reporting data for all stakeholders including contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Practical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills

  • This position is requires daily presence on active construction sites.

Compensation

Salary Range: $74,500 – $114,195 USD annually

What You Can Expect

As our Health and Safety Intern, at The Ohio State University, you will be responsible for providing support to the Environmental Health and Safety Representative.

 

Every day you will assist in in all aspects of the ENGIE Health & Safety Program including, but not limited to:

 

    • Assisting with incident investigation and monthly indicator reporting
    • Review and disposition of safety Good Catch reports
    • Identifying potential hazards within the work environment
    • Participating in leadership safety walks
    • Employee training

What You’ll Bring

  • You are a junior or senior working toward a Bachelor’s degree in the Environmental Science or a related field, at The Ohio State University
