The Project Manager (PM) Senior – Advisor is responsible for providing overall management of the design, construction, commissioning, and execution of multiple utility scale renewable projects throughout the US.  The PM Sr. Advisor will be renewable technology agnostic and responsible for managing execution of multiple engineering, construction, and/or procurement contracts.  The PM Sr. Advisor will work with our internal and external teams, and subcontractors, to oversee the design of the project and will work with our on-site Construction Monitoring team to manage and monitor the work.  THE PM Senior Advisor provides training and mentoring for assigned team members and others in the Delivery group, as well as the on-site Construction Management Team. Additionally, this role will build, foster, and maintain a collaborative working environment within the Project Team.

 

  • Utilize experience, knowledge, and leadership skills to expertly guide execution of assigned renewable projects to successfully meet or exceed expectations
  • Manage the Project Team including the Contractors, the Owner-Engineer, the on-site Construction Monitoring Team and other Project administration staff.  The on-site team may include a staff of up to 10 persons including site management, safety, logistics, and quality control
  • Conduct Weekly Meetings including Design Reviews, Coordination with the local Utility (RTO’s) and ERCOT (ISO’s), and Site Coordination
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for Progress, Safety and Quality
  • Manage Construction and Procurement Contracts, Invoices, Change Order Requests, Submittals, RFI’s. and prepare Cost Forecast Reports
  • Assist with pre-construction activities and with the management of the Project Schedule and Schedule Updates
  • Assist with developing and implementing the Inspection, Testing, Commissioning Plans, and Document Controls Processes
  • Manage the Interconnection Process and Project Close-Out

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field required

  • Minimum of 10 years of Project Management Experience constructing grid scale renewable projects or complex construction projects
  • Minimum of five (5) years of onsite construction experience with grid scale renewable projects or complex construction projects strongly
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills with proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Construction Processes and Sequencing

  • Collaborative approach to getting the work done

Compensation

Salary Range: $128,400 – $196,765 USD annually

As the Project Development Advisor, you will support a broad range of pre-construction development activities on Greenfield projects within ENGIE’s portfolio of utility-scale solar assets in the Eastern United States (including MISO, PJM, Alabama Power, Georgia Power, and other territories).

 

Every day in this role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Early-Stage Project Development: Manage local, state, and federal permitting, including community and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) outreach, public hearings, environmental site assessments, and project acquisition due diligence
  • Collaboration: Work closely with land and business development teams, interconnection experts, and environmental permitting specialists to site Greenfield projects and support wind, solar, and storage project development
  • Project Origination: Drive origination activities from feasibility to land acquisition, including environmental site assessments, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities
  • Consultant Engagement: Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation
  • Research and Development: Stay updated on industry developments, tax incentives, and new technologies.
  • Permitting and Hearings: Manage permit application preparation, attend public permitting hearings, and handle agency and AHJ submittals and interactions
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with landowners and stakeholders, attend community engagement events, and maintain project progress databases
  • Financial and M&A Support: Support energy offtake, financing, and project Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) discussions, document preparation, and review project pro forma financial models
  • Industry Representation: Represent ENGIE at industry advocacy groups and national renewable energy events as an attendee, speaker, panelist, and renewable energy leader

  • Manage commercial aspects of all project related contract negotiations
  • Support pre-construction activity including site studies, surveys, preliminary engineering, and estimating
  • Support internal project capital expenditure approval processes to secure budget for Project Delivery scope
  • Coordinate and support internal stakeholders including development, engineering, interconnection, and power marketing teams with Capex input requests

You manage and support operations of 150 MW Solar generation site, including providing operational support for commercial operations as well as managing the day-to-day operation, maintenance, fiscal and administrative functions of the sites in line with corporate strategy and objectives while ensuring and nurturing safety of all personnel and equipment on the sites after project turnover to operations.

 

 

Operations

  • Provide technical and management support for the design and operations of the solar site
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance, reporting, fiscal and administrative functions of the site and for achieving company and group activities 
  • Monitor and manage site performance and availability
  • Supervise site operating personnel and service providers, subcontractors and consultants to ensure quality and conformance to specifications, budgets, schedule and corporate policies
  • Attain substation technician certification within 12 months of hire date
  • Provide any necessary substation and Balance of Plant (BOP) switching Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) functions as required
  • Troubleshoot and repair High Voltage (HV)/BOP systems as needed

  • Utilize a computer-based automated maintenance management system to: organize equipment commissioning, operations and maintenance files; to identify trends; to take corrective action; and to maintain equipment performance by maximizing plant capacity factor, availability, performance and efficiency

 

Safety

  • Manage a safety program that complies with all Federal and State requirements ensuring the safe operation of the site regarding the public, employees and equipment
  • Actively promote a safety-minded working environment and safety programs consistent with the ENGIE Health and Safety Principles and 9 Life Saving Rules
  • Appoint in writing a sites safety representative to administer the safety program
  • Monitor activities of the Plant Safety Committee and ensure its effectiveness
  • Cooperate with Loss Control/Safety Consultants from property and casualty insurance carriers and respond to their recommendations in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with and promptly reports all losses and claims to the corporate Risk Manager
  • Prepare and are responsible for the execution of emergency plans
  • Maintain site Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) logs

 

Human Resources

  • In coordination with regional area manager, set objectives for his/her team; manage site personnel in the proper performance of assigned duties and maintain a record of their performance through regular, formal evaluations; and make recommendations for their merit increases and incentive pay
  • In coordination with regional area manager, oversee training to enhance site employees’ technical knowledge in the safe operation and maintenance of the facility and its capital equipment as well as employee professional development
  • Ensure that employee policies and procedures are followed by all sites’ personnel; ensure that the manual has been distributed to all employees and that the policies outlined within are reasonably understood by all staff members
  • Ensure fair implementation of complaint procedures
  • Administer appropriate disciplinary action in a fair and consistent manner, supported by clear, concise and thorough documentation of events and actions resulting in the need for discipline
  • Provide/coordinate relief for operations and/or maintenance supervisor as needed

 

Communications

  • Communicate regularly with ENGIE company representatives (VP of Operations, Director of Operations, Regional  Manager, Head of Renewable Generation, Asset and Partnership Management, Engineering, Regulatory Compliance & Human Resources and Construction Management) for exchange, consultation, guidance and required approvals
  • Maintain open communications with Global Energy Management (GEM) 24-hour desk operations. Ensures changes in plants status are communicated immediately to these individuals
  • Maintain good relations with landowners, suppliers, customers, vendors, service providers, governmental authorities, and contractors.
  • Are personally involved and take innovative actions to ensure good public and community relations on behalf of the facility and the company

 

Financial

  • Ensure the efficient and economical operation and maintenance of the facilities
  • Ensure compliance with Purchase Power Agreements, OEM service agreements and Partnership O&M and Asset Management Agreements with emphasis on optimizing assets and minimizing penalties while ensuring safety of personnel and subcontractors
  • Ensure prompt, timely and accurate reporting as required by company policies and procedures and other governmental and contractual requirements
  • Prepare annual operating plans, budgets and controls for operating at budgeted levels with appropriate justification and approval for variances including sites’ outages (compliant with dispatching needs) and operating shift schedules to accommodate facility operation and scheduled maintenance
  • In coordination with area manager, monitors budget variances on a regular basis and prepares/monitors long term budget forecasts
  • Provide monthly variances reports on a timely manner
  • In coordination with Regional Manager, follows up, assisted by the Asset Management Group, with the proper execution of commercial contracts and assists in bringing solutions to any disagreement that may arise

What You’ll Bring

  • 3-year diploma in a technical program or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience industrial Medium voltage or High voltage
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience at a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) site or a substation Power Plant
  • Trades qualifications an asset: (Lineman, Electrician, Millwright, Control Technician)
  • Ability to effectively use diagnostic equipment
  • Proficient with using a personal computer and software tools to analyze plant performance data and prepare reports or presentations
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain substation equipment such as: electrical control circuits, transformers, high voltage breakers and collection lines
  • Be proficient in using Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System’s & other associated WTG monitoring systems
  • Required to be on call as deemed necessary by your direct manager
  • Must be able to respond to plant emergencies outside of normal working hours
  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Verbal and non-verbal, i.e., formal reports

  • Update standards and specifications to account for lessons learned
  • Coordinate Engineering design efforts with EPC to review and comment on design submittals in coordination with owners engineer support
  • Evaluate the communication and metering requirements in Interconnection Agreements to be include in the design and scope of work of all renewable projects
  • Lead the overall project points list review to meet ENGIE Renewables commercial, operations and third-party engineering data request
  • Manage, review, and ensure coordination of SCADA points and controls between various systems and stakeholders including: QSE, Utility, RTO/ISO, substation RTU/IED’s, revenue/check metering, PV/Wind/BESS PPC/EMS and collection system (inverters/PCS, met stations, trackers etc), internal SCADA/IT network and data aggregation systems
  • Assist in the implementation of the ENGIE Industrial Control System - Cyber Security framework and support compliance in all the renewable projects
  • Manage external engineering firms, subcontractors to achieve the highest level of engineering, design, and commissioning for project execution

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation and Controls, Electrical is preferred from an ABET- accredited university or comparable field of study, technical knowledge through demonstrated work experience with a solid understanding of Automation & Control, SCADA design for power generation plants, and/or utility systems
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in similar positions, designing and/or commissioning renewable energy projects and producing standards, specifications, documentation, and in the day-to-day interactions with project development and construction teams
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly valued. However, we welcome candidates with equivalent experience or other relevant certifications

  • PMI Certification is highly valued. However, we welcome candidates with equivalent experience or other relevant certifications

 

 

Additional Details

  • Occasionally work in high and medium voltage environments (e.g., electrical substations, transformers, energy storage, control rooms, etc.)
  • Occasionally climb wind towers and working in construction dusty areas
  • Must be available to travel up to 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips. Travel as needed to support projects in commissioning and team management meetings
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record, for the use of hire cars or personal cars when traveling, to drive to site locations and meetings
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position consists of 20% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $112,000 – $172,500 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
