We have an exciting opportunity for a Hedging/Commercial Analyst to join the Local Portfolio Management Team based in Leeds, UK. As a Hedging/Commercial Analyst, you will be a key contributor to the portfolio management of ENGIE’s Renewable Energy portfolio of UK Businesses and Generation Assets.

 

This is a hybrid role to be based in our Leeds office.  On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

 

What you’ll do

  • Quoting, transacting and confirming Power and Gas ‘over the counter’ trades with clients and ensuring client trades are sourced according to the hedging strategy.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure client trades and market index data is correct and updated within the billing system to ensure customers are billed accurately and on time.
  • Supporting the team by completing a number of operation tasks including but not limited to:
  • Daily trade and position checking to ensure ENGIE’s commodity risk exposures are correctly represented.
  • Production and monitoring of Daily Forward Price Curves used as part of the quoting process
  • Production of daily position summary as part of handover to 24 hour trading team
  • Working with account managers to respond to client queries and ensure all contractual documentation is provided at signature.
  • Evaluating sellback and MtM costs of fixed and flexible contracts.
  • The role may also include working on ad hoc analysis including but not limited to commodity price data, internal KPI monitoring and commodity risk premia.

 

What you’ll need

  • Strong communication skills to work with a range of internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Good numeracy skills to price customer price fix requests promptly
  • An eye for detail and ability to work precisely to complete processes to a high standard of accuracy
  • An interest in UK Renewable Energy, Trading and Risk Management
  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, preferable.
  • Trading or risk management experience desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of VBA, SQL, Python desirable but not essential

Purpose of the job: 

To support the planning and safe delivery of maintenance and engineering activities to ensure there are no adverse impacts on the gas storage assets, whilst maintaining the reliability and availability of the facility within agreed budget. To define and implement innovative maintenance and engineering processes that deliver the lowest OPEX & CAPEX cost without compromising safety, reliability and availability – taking into account any commercial and/or operational constraints. Provide direction and leadership to staff in the Engineering Team, communicating on business and departmental objectives to ensure that staff work productively with a clear purpose to meet their objectives. Coach, mentor and develop staff to improve their skills, promoting a culture of collaboration and an environment where all staff are empowered to innovate. Operate as a member of the Site Management Team – implementing Corporate Strategies, help deliver on business results and contribute to the decision making processes for Storengy UK.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Implement the Storengy UK Safety Management System as defined in the COMAH Operational Safety Report. Ensure compliance with all applicable Regulatory and Statutory requirements.
  • Operate as the Site Main Controller, as defined in the on-site Emergency Plan, for the Gas Plant in the event of an incident.
  • Ensure the members of the Engineering Team understand their SHEQ responsibilities and have the necessary qualifications, training, competence and experience to carry out their duties in a safe and compliance manner.
  • Ensure Contractors carrying out engineering work on the gas storage assets are suitably qualified, competent and experienced to carry out their duties in a safe and compliance manner.
  • Drive improvements in Process Safety across site. Leads on investigations into gas storage asset incidents / accidents in accordance with the Storengy UK procedure.
  • Manage the activities and work load of the Engineering Team – being accountable for overall system health of the gas storage assets.
  • Support the maintenance strategy for all gas storage assets. Ensure data within the maintenance management system is accurate, complete and aligned with the maintenance plan.
  • Responsible for defining spares policy and spares holding for all gas storage assets – owner of the gas storage asset and spares register.
  • Supporting the maintenance contract specifications and contract delivery, value for money, quality, making recommendations for improvements following contract review.
  • Ensure maintenance and engineering policies are implemented across all the gas storage assets, including asset integrity management. Lead on Continuous Improvement for Maintenance & Engineering Systems.
  • Regularly review the maintenance programme with key stakeholders to ensure the Commercial Team is aware of any equipment outages that will affect availability and/or deliverability.
  • Review, update and approve procedures and site engineering standard based on feedback, audits, regulatory requirements and best practice both internally within Storengy, but also across the wider industry.
  • Consider and implement systems for improving the performance / efficiency / availability of the assets through engineering solutions or improvements via the effective delivery of CAPEX projects in the management of maintenance in order to achieve best practice.
  • Understand and follow the Management of Change (MoC) process – taking the lead of changes to any gas storage assets.
  • Act as Gas Plant Duty Manager as required.
  • Exemplify the Engie Leadership Model and embed its principles within the Engineering Team – leading by example.
  • Conduct performance reviews for all direct reports within the Engineering Team, monitoring progress of personal objectives in accordance with the Storengy UK Appraisal Process. Provide Team Leadership.
  • Develop and monitor training and development plans for the Engineering Team, managing competency assessments for both new and existing members of the teams, looking to up-skill team members where possible.
  • Plan staffing levels within the Engineering Team, working with HR to effectively recruit, select and induct new team members. Help deliver the Storengy UK Vision & Strategy.
  • Facilitate and actively encourage the flow of communication within the Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams. Seeks regular feedback from all sources in order to drive through safety and operational improvements.
  • Coordinate maintenance and engineering activities through prioritising and delegating appropriately. Carry out safety audits and acceptance evaluations of new equipment or processes.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Operations and Finance Team, forecast annual budget requirements for the gas storage asset maintenance. Monitor spend against budget, and define ways to avoid overspend.
  • Ensure performance data for gas storage assets is monitored and reported on for operational performance through an agreed set of performance measures reported monthly, and use the data to define actions to improve the reliability/availability.

Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience in major accident hazard process plants. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a managerial position.
  • Adopts a consistent approach, checks the quality of work and meets deadlines.
  • Adapts human and material resources to meet demand.
  • Excellent overall awareness of workplace SHEQ and COMAH Regulatory requirements.
  • Takes initiative in problem solving / fault finding, generating solutions.

Job Purpose

The individual will be responsible for managing overdue debt through the disconnections process and both internal and external legal processes. This role will oversee the Recoveries function for both Industrial & Commercial (I&C) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) within the Energy Supply Division.

 

The successful candidate will provide direction, management, and continuous development for the Recoveries team, driving improvements in departmental efficiency and process development while minimising the cost to serve.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the internal Recoveries team, ensuring efficient collection of outstanding debts, including management of the Warrant, Debt Collection Agency (DCA), and Legal processes and relationships.
  • Identify and enhance existing recovery strategies, ensuring alignment with business and industry standards, and implement new procedures where deficiencies are identified to reduce costs.
  • Manage relationships with external recovery agencies.
  • Liaise with the internal legal team and external solicitors regarding claims and queries.
  • Support internal stakeholders with queries and escalations requiring Recoveries input.
  • Provide timely reports on recovery activities, debt, and cash collections.
  • Assist and liaise with customers and their representatives to expedite the claim process and recover outstanding debts or achieve settlements where appropriate.
  • Review settlements, payment plans, and write-offs in a timely manner, authorising actions within set delegations.
  • Maintain the Legal tracker and manage the team's tickets (queries) within the delegations of authority.
  • Control and manage expenditure related to external legal and disconnection processes.
  • Validate and sign off Disconnection and External Legal Costs invoices in line with Delegations of Authority (DLAs).
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports, setting objectives and completing performance reviews.
  • Implement and drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at both team and individual levels, monitoring performance.
  • Drive the training and development of the Recoveries team.
  • Attend monthly team meetings and present to the wider Collections Team to ensure awareness of the Recoveries team processes and initiatives.
  • Oversee the insolvency process, including contacting insolvency practitioners and informing the business of new insolvencies.
  • Manage the write-off process related to insolvencies and dissolutions.
  • Oversee the management of the full Detrimental Information process.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of gas and electricity industry processes across SME and I&C.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to operate at all stakeholder levels.
  • Understanding of the customer lifecycle and interdependencies between Collections, Recoveries, and interfacing departments.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Proven ability to organize and produce accurate work to tight deadlines.

In this role, you will champion safety standards across our Stublach Site and support the SHEQ Manager in driving continuous improvement in SHE performance. Your efforts will help us maintain high safety standards and ensure a safe working environment for all.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily SHE reviews of work activities across the Stublach Site.
  • Attend daily plant coordination meetings to ensure effective communication regarding Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) between Operations and Projects teams.
  • Deliver and coordinate SHE training for Storengy UK staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Serve as the focal point for all SHE event reporting and ensure all events are logged in the SHEQ digital management system.
  • Compile weekly and monthly SHE statistics for the Storengy SA group.
  • Develop and deliver Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and Safety Bulletins on SHE themes.
  • Review internal and contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements from a SHE perspective.
  • Ensure PPE stock levels are maintained and issued as required.
  • Monitor compliance with the Managers Site Visits schedule and site audit programme.
  • Conduct SHEQ technical reviews of contractor pre-qualification responses and attend pre-construction meetings.
  • Provide SHE input during routine Operations/Maintenance team meetings.
  • Maintain waste management records and monitor site recycling and waste segregation.
  • Contribute to safety days and initiatives, promoting ‘One Safety’ and ‘Safety Essentials’ programmes.
  • Assist the SHEQ Manager with Safety Management System (SMS) implementation, including procedure review and document control.

 

Skills and Experience

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a SHE function in a similar industry.
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of relevant UK SHE legislation, standards, and practices (e.g., COMAH, MHASWA, PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH).
  • Ability to apply rules and safety procedures during activities and reviews.
  • Training development and delivery skills in safety, occupational health, and environmental topics.
  • Capability to support incident investigations and identify root causes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Land Management, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Prior experience  in developing renewable projects in the UK, with specific experience in originating greenfield Renewable and BESS projects.
  • Experience in identifying and acquiring land, optimizing grid connections, conducting environmental assessments, and applying for planning consents.
  • Experience in originating corporate PPAs and participating in CFD auctions.
  • Knowledge of EPC contracting structures and tendering processes.
  • Understanding of capital and O&M costs linked to PV, onshore wind, and batteries.
  • Conversant with investment principles and project financing.
  • Financial modelling experience is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Project.
  • UK Driver's Licence and ability to travel nationally and to the EU.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good understanding of Route-to-Market options, including CFDs and corporate PPAs for renewable projects.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Technical Engineer – Development to join our UK Renewables team. In this role, you will support the development and construction of onshore wind and solar projects in the UK and Ireland. You will be responsible for screening development sites, providing inputs to financial modelling, early-stage site design, procuring site studies, and managing engineering input for projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen development sites and provide inputs to financial modelling.
  • Perform early-stage site design and procure site studies.
  • Discuss with grid operators and monitor grid connection costs and requirements.
  • Conduct preliminary design and optimization, including electrical design of PV, wind, and BESS projects.
  • Manage engineering input for projects, incorporating other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop employer requirements for EPC contracts and provide technical input into EPC contracts and terms.
  • Review tenders during the procurement phase.
  • Perform or subcontract Basic Design and Detailed Design studies for PV plant sub-systems.
  • Support through construction with critical document review and owner’s engineer work.
  • Integrate electrical equipment, SCADA, and IT.
  • Perform technical qualifications of key equipment and technical audits of key equipment manufacturers' factories and facilities.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and handover of projects.

 

Required Experience,  Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, similar subject or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in concept design for solar PV or wind sites.
  • Commercial awareness of the impact of losses, CAPEX, and OPEX on overall project economics.
  • Experience in project management and operating as part of a multi-disciplined team.

 

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent electrical engineering competence and understanding of renewable generation assets.
  • Experience in load flows for solar and design of electrical infrastructure for wind farms.
  • Experience in design of BESS and network calculation studies.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and IT architecture for operational technology.

As Senior Nuclear Engineer in our Radioactive Waste Management department, you will contribute to our mission every day by playing a crucial role in:
•    Conducting and coordinating Engineering Studies in the field of Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning.
•    Covering both the radioactive waste resulting from operations and from dismantling.

 

 

Your key responsibilities


•    Knowledge of nuclear decommissioning processes in general, experience with the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant is an asset.
•    Knowledge about the implementation of decommissioning concepts on site.
•    Knowledge about cutting- and decontamination techniques.
•    Knowledge about solid, liquid and gaseous radioactive waste types and treatment.
•    Knowledge about treatment and conditioning of solid radioactive waste.
•    Knowledge about the assessment, analysis and management of the decommissioning radioactive waste inventory.
•    Knowledge about disposal concepts for different types of radioactive waste is an asset.
•    Knowledge about waste packages for storage, transport, and/or disposal.
•    Development of waste management and decommissioning strategies and related optioneering assessments.
•    Verification of technical specifications, technical follow-up of contracts and commissioning of installations for the treatment and/or conditioning of radioactive waste.
•    Verify the technical work performed by your peers.
•    Actively engage in knowledge sharing with others.
•    Coaching of young colleagues.
•    Working in close relationship with the final Client and interact with Safety Authorities and the Radioactive Waste Management Agency.
•    Embody the image and values of Tractebel and the ENGIE group (Ethics, QHSE,…) in all your contacts, both inside and outside the ENGIE group, and other external stakeholders.

•    An experience of 10 years at least in the domain of the radioactive waste management or decommissioning.
•    A Master’s degree in Engineering / Sciences, chartership is an asset.
•    Language: English, (passive) knowledge of French or Dutch is an asset.
•    Knowledge of the UK Nuclear Ecosystem.
•    Capable of producing and verifying high quality technical documents, regardless of the topic’s complexity.

Your mission

We are looking for motivated and experienced Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineers to work on the design of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear powerplants, as well as our future pipeline of projects. You will provide your mechanical expertise to successfully deliver our projects, in collaboration with clients, contractors, stakeholders and our project teams. 

 

Your key responsibilities

The key responsibilities will include a selection of the following points, depending on your technical experience and the position you take within our team:

  • Providing technical leadership and team management to deliver work packages effectively.
  • Coordinating and communicating on complex engineering problems between project stakeholders.
  • Working within a team responsible for a number of design elements, where you will conduct or review work on the following topics:
    • Engineering and design of mechanical structures and components, including seismic design.
    • Structural integrity assessment of mechanical components to British Standards, RCC-M and ASME Section III Codes for the construction or operation of new/existing nuclear power plants.
    • Finite element analysis for thermal and pressure fatigue evaluation of mechanical and piping components according to RCC-M and ASME requirements.
    • Support clients to safely restart their nuclear power plant units through prompt and sensible assessment.
    • Analysis / design of components, including pumps, valves and supporting structures.
    • Calculation of piping components, including classified components for existing or new structures.
    • Other: Fracture mechanics studies, ageing of structures and components, design and calculation of anchorage elements, seismic margin assessment of existing structures (SMA, SPSA), seismic qualification of active components.
  • Writing and reviewing of component technical specifications (performance, scope of supply and limits of supply definition, design requirements, applicable criteria to be fulfilled, etc.).
  • Providing technical review and responding to site queries and requested changes in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to support contractor activities on HPC site.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the business development team during the tendering process for our future project stream.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would meet the following requirements and criteria:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership with the IMechE, or with equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in structural analysis and design of structural components.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years working in the nuclear industry.
  • Working familiarity with relevant technical Codes of Practice and Industry Standards (Eurocodes, British Standard, RCC-M and ASME).
  • Experienced in general purpose finite element and structural design software (e.g. PIPESTRESS, BEAMSTRESS, ANSYS, SYSTUS etc.) for static or dynamic loading, linear or non-linear analysis.

Context:

Engie plays a major role in the UK’s green power transition both as a developer of green power projects and de risking new build third party asset. The UK governments ambitious targets to decarbonise the electricity system by the end of the decade have reinforced the importance of GEMS UK’s green power business.

The Valuation & Analysis team (V&A) is looking for a VIE in London whose mission is to support the development of GEMS UK Renewables trading desk. The successful applicant will work on a wide range of projects centred primarily around short term power markets and the delivery of over 1GW of renewable energy. By working with Trading, V&A and IS the applicant will have the opportunity to develop new and improve existing machine learning models and develop and improve renewables production forecasts.

 

Role:

 

  • Production of price and volume forecast models for power markets.
  • Backtest and calibration of trading strategies for renewable and battery assets in the GB power market.

 

Hard skills:

  • Must have:
    • Strong data science and programming skills (python)
    • Fluent in English
  • Good to have:
    • Understanding of the energy business and power markets
    • Experience in ML and forecasting
    • Having experience on AWS is a plus
