What You Can Expect

The SCADA Engineering Advisor, will manage all aspects of the renewable project engineering design and commissioning oversight activities for utility-scale renewables projects (wind, solar, and energy storage) throughout the US and Canada and serve as an innovative subject matter expert and leader.

 

In this role the SCADA Engineering Advisor will lead the development of ENGIE North America generation SCADA specifications, including SCADA, PPC, and EMS architecture to be implemented in new project under development process. Additionally, responsible for the SCADA, PV network engineering design drawings reviews and commissioning planning of renewable energy projects (including Wind, Solar PV, and Energy Storage).

  • Project Management & Leadership: Oversee engineering design and commissioning for utility-scale renewable projects (wind, solar, energy storage) across the US and Canada. Act as a subject matter expert and leader, collaborating with internal departments and external partners throughout the project lifecycle
  • SCADA Specifications & Design: Develop SCADA, PPC, and EMS architecture for new projects. Review SCADA and PV network engineering design drawings and plan commissioning for renewable energy projects
  • Subject Matter Expertise & Commissioning: Lead as the SCADA and Controls expert, manage assigned projects, provide advice on SCADA options in contracts, and assist in commissioning renewable energy projects, including hands-on work if needed
  • Coordination & Standards: Coordinate the development and oversight of ENGIE Renewable SCADA systems, update standards based on lessons learned, and review design submittals with EPC and owners' engineers. Evaluate communication and metering requirements in Interconnection Agreements
  • System Integration & Cyber Security: Manage SCADA points and controls coordination among various systems and stakeholders including: QSE, Utility, RTO/ISO, substation RTU/IED’s, revenue/check metering, PV/Wind/BESS PPC/EMS and collection system (inverters/PCS, met stations, trackers etc), internal SCADA/IT network and data aggregation systems. Support the implementation of the ENGIE Industrial Control System - Cyber Security framework and manage external engineering firms and subcontractors for project execution

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation and Controls, Electrical is preferred from an ABET- accredited university or comparable field of study, technical knowledge through demonstrated work experience with a solid understanding of Automation & Control, SCADA design for power generation plants, and/or utility systems
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in similar positions, designing and/or commissioning renewable energy projects and producing standards, specifications, documentation, and in the day-to-day interactions with project development and construction teams
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly valued. However, we welcome candidates with equivalent experience or other relevant certifications

Mission

 

The Control Center team holds the responsibility of monitoring and control assets ´performance of Engie’s renewable portfolio. The position of Control Center Operator will be based at ENGIE headquarters (Madrid). Reporting to the Control Center Coordinator

 

Functions

 

- Management of internal/external works due to incidents or weekly/annual schedules affecting Engie's generation (renewable, hydro and cogeneration) and substations in coordination with DSO/TSO/EE (Electricity Company)/CCBB (Community of Assets) at shared facilities, following technical analysis and required conditions.

- Define the required manoeuvres and authorise internal/external works following technical analysis and established conditions.

- Prepare the required work releases together with the single-line plans and the protected areas to prevent electrical risks

- Prepare and update internal documentation at Operation level in relation to electrical substations with their switchgear and remote controls

- Manage the integration of assets and substations in the CC and in the REDEIA (REDEIA) according to the established requirements, coordinating and carrying out the previously defined point-to-point tests (P2P).

- Managing the implementation of the adjustment services (RR, R2, R3) as well as the Automatic Power Reduction System (SRAP) and the Active Demand Response Service (SRAD).

- Definition and management of internal and external protocols in relation to incidents and planned work on assets and substations.

- Defining and managing internal procedures at Operation level in relation to incidents due to protection alarms, communications and control system losses

- Prepare and define internal reporting reports at Operation level

- Internal and external training in relation to PRL of the electrical infrastructures as well as of the own personnel or contractors for local operation.

- Manage and coordinate at Operation level the power limitations established by REDEIA and GEMS (Electricity Market Operator).

Role Overview:

As the on-site Wind Technician II, located in Eldorado, TX, you will operate and maintain the site by optimizing wind generation availability and performance through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety and environment compliance. Adaptability is crucial as tasks may vary depending on operational needs and requirements. Your primary responsibilities involve troubleshooting, repairing, reconnecting, and inspecting electrical equipment, including substations and overall site performance. At this site you will be working with high voltage energized equipment and must follow all safety procedures including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) grounding and other safety precautions. Collaborating with service providers and contractors, you will oversee daily work activities, produce various reports, operate site equipment, and coordinate with local utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs) for switching and curtailments.

 

Ensuring compliance with ENGIE and regulatory agency standards, you'll conduct inspections and recurring checks on site equipment. You'll actively participate in behavior-based safety programs, enforce safety procedures, and conduct orientations and meetings to promote a safe working environment. Alongside routine inspections and serving as the main contact for landowners, you'll manage spare parts inventory, coordinate contractor work, and maintain cleanliness on-site. Gaining and maintaining GWO training is required, as well as participating in turbine climbing activities. You'll provide recommendations for operational and maintenance improvements, offer equipment operation training, and utilize Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques to address failures. You will work on computerized work order systems for purchase requisitions and receiving statuses.  From time to time you will be required to support other wind assets during planned outages and emergencies, potentially requiring overnight stays. Furthermore, you'll be part of an on-call rotation and must reside within 50 miles of the site to respond promptly to outages and emergencies.


What You’ll Bring

As our Energy Storage Engineering Intern, you will support our Renewables Engineering group which supports the technical development, design, and construction of large energy storage projects throughout North America. Every day in this role you will participate in a variety of tasks related to the development, implementation, and improvement of energy storage systems.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of battery storage systems, their components, integration, site engineering and construction
  • Participate in engineering design review for utility-scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, and energy storage)
  • Participate in multi-discipline team meetings to further your understanding of different engineering disciplines and support development of engineering specifications
  • Learn about various stages and technical aspects of renewable projects (Power Plant Controller (PPC) Controller, Protection Relays, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition  (SCADA), Substations, Transmission, Underground Collection)
  • Attend site visits to support design review, construction review, and commissioning activities as needed

 

What You’ll Bring

What You Can Expect
As Groundskeeper will report to the site daily and work as the main point of contact in keeping and maintaining the vegetation, such as but not limited to weed eating, using a medium size agriculture tracker, and using a box blade for road repair. You will also oversee the regular scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting for the equipment and vehicles on site.  You will receive and report status updates on assignments and projects from the scheduling software on a computer terminal in the office. This work is completed independently amongst a team of technicians. Periodically you will be expected to manage and communicate with external contractors onsite to ensure compliance and safety.

  • You may be required to work to support solar technicians as needed for safety support other required assignments
  • You may be required to work on call as needed in site

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You must have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum 2 years work history using hand tools 
  • You will need to be able to drive a medium size agricultural tracker  
  • Must be able to active read and interpret information such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals
  • Able and willing to get certified in first aid and CPR


Additional Details

  • This role requires daily attendance at worksite 
  • Must be available to travel to other sites for trainings and assistance as needed per site local site development typically on a weekly basis. 
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive on site and to other company trainings, events and meetings

  • Support Power Marketing Initiatives: Assist the Power Marketing team in promoting grid-scale solar, solar-plus-storage, and wind projects, including bid evaluation, preparation, and creating presentation materials for customers and buyers
  • Market Trend and Transaction Analysis: Identify and analyze national industry trends impacting renewable development opportunities, and assess transaction details to identify risks and opportunities for optimizing project revenue
  • Power Sale Agreements: Support the negotiation and management of long-term power sale agreements with various customers to facilitate the financing and construction of new renewable and/or energy storage projects
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with ENGIE’s project support teams, including development, construction, operations and maintenance, procurement, finance, accounting, energy trading, and transmission analysis teams
  • Market Research and Data Management: Conduct market research, manage data and data rooms, perform competitive analysis, assist with marketing collateral, and provide various ad hoc analyses

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 2nd year undergraduate or graduate degree with at least a current GPA of 2.8 or higher
