Work environment 

 

The “Gas to X” Department of Tractebel Engineering is providing engineering services related to the following energy-related fields: Conventional Thermal Power Plants, Biomass Power Plants, Concentrated Solar Power Plants, Desalination Units, Decarbonisation of Industrial Plants, Carbon Capture and Storage/Usage, Green Hydrogen Production, Synthetic Molecules / Green Fuels Production, LNG-, Natural Gas-Terminals and Pipelines, etc. 

The “Classical Gas” Product is in charge of LNG terminals with its variants, pipelines and conventional gas stations. The piping activities for these are executing:

•    Feasibility and Basic Design.

•    Mechanical & Process System Studies.

•    Detailed Mechanical & Process Design.

•    Procurement of piping equipment including factory acceptance testing.

•    Design Review.

•    Site supervision, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

•    Audit of installations.

 

The role of Tractebel can be consulting engineer, owner’s engineer, PMC, etc.

The engineering services cover the whole life cycle of the projects, from early stage feasibility studies to construction follow-up, commissioning follow-up and services during plant operation.

 

The projects are located in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Latin America or Asia.

 

Your function

 

For the Gas product, you are in charge of Pipeline engineering studies necessary to design, build gas pipelines; gas compression stations and all what is related to the handling of gas in an industrial environment. The concerned installations cover all natural gas or other special gases (such as H2, CO2,…) transport.

Your role will address mainly the following tasks:

  • Execute feasibilities studies analysing the optimal routing for a pipeline routing considering all aspects of constrains.
  • Integration of the project constraints in the design of the pipeline system.
  • Act as Technical Integrator of complex projects consolidating engineering studies from various disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, civil, I&C, HSE, etc.)
  • Deliver pipeline engineering services that meet Tractebel’s, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Perform technical-economic studies including cost estimates
  • Execute detailed design studies for a chose and frozen pipeline.
  • follow up of the contracting process for these services (bid comparison, technical and economic negotiations, contracting)
  • Evaluate and comment the technical documents issued by contractors and manufacturers
  • Gaining experience in covering basic engineering, detail engineering, procurement, erection, pre-commissioning, commissioning and acquisition of specific knowledge regarding pipelines and gas installations.
  • Managing the contractual and/or financial relations between the various parties involved and the interfaces between all participants in the Projects : Client, Partners, Suppliers, etc.
  • Performing of consultancy, (pre)-feasibility, Basic Design, FEED assignments
  • Writing of specifications for the manufacturing of the pipelines (including welding requirements), fittings, supports, insulation, etc as well as for the valves and follow up of the contracting process for these services (bid comparison, technical and economic negotiations, contracting)
  • Preparation of files for permitting and construction specifications.
  • Workshop inspections and quality follow-up of pipeline prefabrication but also for other equipment.
  • On-site follow up of the mechanical erection including welding activities.
  • Will respond to the project engineer
  • Having the knowledge of the different equipment used in the gas industry
  • Write procedure to execute and manage gas-in of a pipeline
  • Complete projects with the necessary hand-overs, As-built, certificates,….
     

Your profile

 

  • Civil or industrial engineer with a practical, ever sense of learning.
  • Interested in the gas and energy sector within a multidisciplinary environments.
  • Some experience in material knowledge, welding and NDT inspections
  • You have interest to develop your high level expertise.
  • Team spirit, dynamic, rigorous and creative 
  • Good communicator and prepared to listen to the client needs.
  • Able to take the role as advisor towards the Client and transmit your knowledge to other team members
  • Willing to undergo short / long missions to support construction activities and / or client support.
  • The function is open in Brussels but you have Interest for international experience and short and mid-term missions abroad

Your responsibilities as a Power Transformer Expert. (F/M/X)

 

Within our department specialized in Electrical Equipment (EEQ), you have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and make a significant impact on our customers' operations.

  • Engage in all aspects of the electricity value chain, from production to industry, and stay updated on new transformer technologies and market trends.
  • Collaborate with universities and research centers locally and abroad, and be open to travel for interventions on industrial sites in Belgium and Europe.
  • Draft specifications for transformers, evaluate supplier offers, conduct design reviews, and follow up on manufacturing and construction at supplier facilities.

  • You have got a master of electrical or electromechanical engineering

  • You must have an interest in the analysis and research of solutions to a variety of technical problems in the area of electrical power systems

Mission

As a nuclear trainee, you will:

  • Discover the world of energy and the challenges of nuclear activities and business;

In the context of the operation and lifetime extension of power plants (in Belgium and abroad), a lot of equipment have to be replaced and will be found obsolete. Suitable replacements have to be found and tested to conform to nuclear qualification requirements. Lifetime extension plans have to be defined to demonstrate the capacity of the equipment to go beyond their original lifetime. Furthermore, design upgrade projects required qualification of components to guarantee the safe operation of the plant.

Your job as Hardware Qualification Engineer will consist of:

  • Support to the utilities for the identification of obsolete components (through various methods including: contacts with the original supplier, stock analysis, etc.);
  • Managing contacts with the suppliers to evaluate alternative solutions;
  • Evaluating possible options for re-stocking; 
  • Research of substitute products for obsolete equipment;
  • Validate design changes between original and current equipment regarding nuclear safety;
  • Drafting of specifications and technical requisition files for purchasing of Instrumentation equipment;
  • Follow-up of factory acceptance test and examination of manufacturer records;
  • Meeting experts assigned by Suppliers, Client, Safety Authority...
  • Management of hardware qualification process of instrumentation equipment regarding nuclear safety;

Profile 

  • Civil/Industrial Engineer (electricity, electronics, electromechanics, …); 
  • Knowledge in electricity and/or instrumentation, quality assurance, standards,… is an asset;

Your function

 

As a Nuclear Safety & Licensing Engineer - Confirmed, you will work in several of the following domains: 

  • Safety Officer function within projects: assure the proper consideration of nuclear licensing and safety aspects in studies/projects; establish and manage safety requirements, analyze and ensure compliance with safety requirements, organize safety reviews, contacts with Safety Authorities;
  • Assistance to the client’s nuclear licensing process, including the establishment of associated documents such as PSAR and FSAR (preliminary and final safety assessment report);
  • Safety analysis and assessment, e.g.: classification & qualification requirements with respect to safety functions and items important to safety, radiological consequences studies, internal and external hazards studies including definition of the load case, determination of PIE’s (postulated initiating events) and DBA’s (design basis accidents), statistical setpoint studies;

Your Profile

  • You have a master degree in Engineering;
  • You are a “generalist”, having knowledge of all technical disciplines within the nuclear domain, enabling you to discuss on safety aspects related to these disciplines;
  • You have minimum 5 years of experience with the general nuclear safety approach and general nuclear licensing preferably within the French or Belgian licensing process;
  • You speak and write French or Dutch on a professional level, and possess a good command of English;

You will work as Project Manager for our department Buildings which is responsible for engineering and consultancy services related to the development and realization of Buildings, including Residential, Tertiary and Industrial Buildings, Sport Infrastructures and consultancy missions related to buildings. Your profile

  • You have a Master degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of experience with project management in MEP works;
  • You are rather a generalist than a specialist, with background in MEP or Architectural engineering;
  • The projects you worked on were preferably building projects with high environmental ambition;
  • You were ideally involved in all aspects and phases of your projects: competition, design, studies, tender, execution, management,…);

The chosen candidate will be based in Brussels, positioning themselves at the forefront of our strategic initiatives. Role:

 

As Renewables Trader in the RES Trading team we expect you to:

  • be able to perform pricing, develop/improve models and adapt hedging strategies for the Polish renewables market
  • assist in developing and monitoring performance measures  which will be instrumental to the expansion of our portfolio (cooperating with pricing, origination),
  • be Pnl driven, and respectful of your risk mandate,
  • be an excellent team player, within your own team and across others (Short term trading, pricing, origination, structuring, quants, IS, GMA…),
  • show a continuous drive to uncover profitable trading & hedging strategies ,
  • manage short term trading strategies across CWE markets (Day Ahead, Intraday, Curtailments),
  • assist in developing flexibility solutions to manage the intermittency of the portfolio in a cost-effective manner.

Hard skills:

  • Analytical and quantitative skills, combined with a hands-on approach,
  • Good knowledge of the Polish renewables power market,
  • Good knowledge of office tools as Excel as well as interest,
  • Strong understanding of information management tool and trading systems,
  • The capability and/or interest in code languages (Python etc),
  • A good understanding of accounting mechanisms (both industrial and trading), of market finance (hedging, derivatives, etc), of the power business and associated trading strategies are required,
  • The use of trading transaction systems will also be required.

Soft skills:

  • Assertive, inquisitive and stress resistant,
  • You also have a high level of integrity,
  • Well organized and pro-active,
  • Able to perform during specific reporting cycles with tight deadlines,
  • You are eager to learn, tenacious, with a strong business drive,
  • A real team player able to transfer your knowledge, and able to coordinate the inputs/actions of various units.

Education and professional background:

You have at least 2 years experiences in managing a renewables portfolio.

Languages:

You are fluent in Polish and English.

Other languages are a plus.

Description

 

  • You are part of a multidisciplinary project team of engineers and draftmen for projects with a strong focus on projects in infrastructure (bridges, civil constructions, etc.) and / or buildings.
  • You are responsible for the design and calculation of structures (concrete, steel, wood, etc.) from concept to implementation study.
  • You are creative in looking for structural solutions to specific problems, taking into account design and budget.
  • On a technical level, you will be assisted in your assignments by colleagues from the Structural Engineering teams and in the context of geotechnical aspects, the team Geo Engineering will be called upon. Working together with colleagues is a top priority at Tractebel.
  • At the start of an assignment, you make agreements with the Lead Engineer about the documents to be supplied, as well as about the timing. It is your responsibility to carry out the work in accordance with the agreed hours. In the event of unforeseen matters, you report this immediately to the Lead Engineer. Projects are carried out in accordance with our internal quality system and our health and safety rules;
  • You communicate the progress of your work in the projects with the Lead Engineer and your manager on a regular basis. This is where your communication skills come into play;
  • You help with the preparation of quotations and contracts;
  • Knowledge and interest in BIM and parametric design is a plus;
  • You strive for sustainable and efficient solutions;
  • You keep track of the standards, guidelines and developments in your field.

 

Profile 

 

  • You have a Master's degree in Engineering (M.Sc.Eng.) - construction engineering or equivalent;
  • You have minimum 3 years of relevant technical experience with regard to design and engineering in infrastructure or building projects;
  • You have ready knowledge regarding stability concepts in infrastructure or building projects;
  • You have a good understanding of the applicable construction techniques;
  • You have good communication skills and are a team player;
  • You are customer-oriented and flexible;
  • You speak Dutch and/or French fluently and you have a very good knowledge of English;
  • You are willing to occasionally make international trips in the context of our projects.

Your function

As a Structural Project Manager specializing in civil structures, you will oversee and drive projects focused on bridges, tunnels, and other major civil engineering works. Your profile

 

  • You hold a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • You have at least 10 years of experience in structural engineering, particularly in projects related to complex infrastructures (bridges, tunnels, roads, airports, etc.).
  • You have a proven track record of involvement in all project phases: design, studies, tender, execution, and management.
  • You are experienced in competitive bidding, including conceptual design, cost estimation, and fee negotiation.
  • You excel in managing multidisciplinary projects with multiple stakeholders under time and budget constraints.
  • You possess strong communication skills and are a collaborative team player.
  • You are client-oriented, solution-driven, and adaptable.
  • You are fluent in Dutch or French and have a professional command of English.
  • You are prepared to work with teams in our different regional offices (Ghent, Brussels and Hasselt) and cooperate with our office in Romania.
