What You Can Expect

As our Construction Manager (CM) II, you will be responsible for monitoring, coordinating, and facilitating the construction and commissioning of distributed-scale solar and energy storage projects. In this role, you will manage construction and commissioning work being performed by subcontractors, including oversight of Safety, and will work with our internal Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Asset Management, and Finance Departments, as well as our 3rd Party Owner’s Engineer(s) and other consultants to oversee the execution of the project. Additionally, you would be expected to have a proven background in managing large, complex construction projects, demonstrating your ability to handle multifaceted challenges and deliver successful outcomes. This role can be based in Chicago, IL (preferred), Houston, or remote in cities like Denver, NY, and Oakland, CA, reporting to the Manager of Project Delivery.

 

 

  • Actively participate in the Health, Safety, and Environment program for project construction
  • Oversee projects from development through construction to Project Closeout and Handover to O&M/Asset Management, conducting regular site visits
  • Manage multiple construction projects concurrently
  • Track contractual requirements and deliverables for all project contracts, including off-take agreements, interconnection agreements, EPC agreements, financing agreements, and road use agreements
  • Prepare construction safety and progress measurement KPIs using the project plan and baseline schedule, and manage material delivery and inventory at project site

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant construction management experience, constructing solar or power construction projects
  • You are proficient in managing construction activities, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • You have comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and sequencing
  • You are experienced with hands-on use of tools and equipment
  • You possess leadership and problem-solving skills
  • You have a collaborative approach to work, with a strong attention to detail and documentation, including daily logs, KPI tracking, periodic reporting, and other standard construction management activities

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy, allowing for a mix of remote work and in-office presence. For candidates in remote cities, occasional travel to our office locations in Chicago, IL or Houston, TX is required, approximately once a quarter during off weeks
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 75% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record, use of company vehicle
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

Compensation

Salary Range: $84,000 – $123,200 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Utility Plant Operator I

What You Can Expect

As a Utility Plant Operator I (UPO I) at our University of Iowa location, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating power generation equipment that powers campus facilities, including the University Hospital. This equipment includes, pumps, air compressors, conveying systems, fans, electric motors, ash conveying systems, control valves, mobile equipment, and other industrial equipment.

 

Each day begins with a handoff from the previous shift to understand the current operating status of the plant and tasks to be completed. The primary task of a UPO I involves the safe operation of the plant's equipment. You will conduct hourly rounds, monitoring equipment status, checking for leaks or abnormalities. Additional responsibilities include housekeeping tasks, and completing logs at the end of rounds and shift. Assisting with weekly preventive maintenance (PM) during day shifts.

We currently operate three steam generators and four natural gas-powered generators. Communication of pertinent information among shift members, support personnel, maintenance, and management is facilitated through Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Maximo (our Computerized Maintenance Management System).

 

The UPO I may also provide relief and support in other job classifications, including Maintenance and Fuel Unloading. Other duties include performing regular testing and treatment of boiler water as directed and checking offsite equipment located at the Hospital and West Campus.

This position follows a rotating shift schedule, rotating between days and nights every two weeks. You will work seven scheduled days every fourteen days (Dupont rotating schedule), including nights, holidays, and weekends.

 

Availability for vacation coverage, emergency relief, and overtime as required by the plant management team is essential.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High School Degree or GED equivalent required
  • A minimum of two (2) years industrial plant,  process plant, shipboard power & propulsion or power plant experience operating boilers, pumps, fans, conveyors or similar experience

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • You must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record, operation of company owned vehicles is required
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Required to be on call as needed/deemed necessary by Supervisor/Management
  • Required to have a personal telephone to be able to receive emergency notifications
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements

  • Must be physically capable to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication

  • Capable of performing repetitive motions as required
  • Required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals
  • Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the like) as required
  • Must be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, etc. 
  • Working Environment (Indoors – 90% Outdoors – 10%) 
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
    • The Power Plant can be an extremely hot environment
    • Areas of the Power Plant can be dusty

Your mission

 

As Project Director in our Infrastructure division you will contribute to our mission everyday by playing a crucial role in the proper follow-up and execution of major integrated infrastructure projects,  each characterised by their specific context and often involving major works of art (tunnels, bridges,...). 

 

Your key responsabilities

 

  • Supervising the commercial trajectory of large projects in close consultation with the URBAN commercial team, taking into account the following aspects:
    •     identification and analysis of technical, financial and contractual risks
    •     validation of the technical content
    •     calculation of price and profitability
    •     drafting of agreements
  • The allocation and planning of staff to projects
  • Ensuring the overall management of the realisation of the projects in consultation with the project teams (contractual, financial, technical and management aspects)
  • Managing the project teams by indicating the objectives and guidelines to be taken into account during the execution of the projects (quality, cost, deadline)
  • Being the direct contact of the clients for the execution of the contracts, in particular: invoicing, payments, drafting of appendices and claims;
  • Updating and maintaining the data so that a state of affairs can be drawn up on a quarterly basis of
    • The total and yet to be realised income
    • The total and yet to be realised expenses
    • The profitability of the projects under your scope
  • The effective use of specialised knowledge
  • Contribute to the annual evaluation of the employees for whom you are responsible for functional management 
  • Draw up the project's safety plan and check its knowledge and application by the members of the project teams
  • Within your projects you will take into account all aspects of infrastructure projects, such as integration into the landscape, mobility, safety, sustainability, etc.

  • A Master's degree in Engineering (civil or industrial) or equivalent through experience 
  • Proficiency in Dutch and a good professional knowledge of French and English 
  • Extensive technical experience in complex infrastructure projects with tunnels and bridges

What You Can Expect

As a Utility Plant Operator II (UPO II) at our University of Iowa location, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating power generation equipment that powers campus facilities, including the University Hospital. Each day begins with a handoff from the previous shift to understand the current operating status of the plant and tasks to be completed. The primary task of a UPO II involves the safe operation of the plant's boilers. You will conduct hourly rounds, monitoring pressures, checking for leaks or abnormalities. Additional responsibilities include monitoring pressure reducing valves, completing logs at the end of the shift, and performing weekly preventive maintenance (PM) during day shifts. We currently operate three steam generators and four natural gas-powered generators. Communication of pertinent information among shift members, production support personnel, maintenance, and management is facilitated through Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Maximo (our Computerized Maintenance Management System).

 

The UPO II may also provide relief and support in other job classifications, including Maintenance and Fuel Unloading. Other duties include performing regular testing and treatment of boiler water as directed and checking offsite equipment such as the Hospital boiler and West Campus boiler.

This position follows a rotating shift schedule, rotating between days and nights every two weeks. You will work seven scheduled days every fourteen days (Dupont rotating schedule), including nights, holidays, and weekends.

 

Availability for vacation coverage, emergency relief, and overtime as required by the plant management team is essential.

ENGIE North America is seeking a High Voltage Electrician to join our Team at the University of Iowa Campus. This will be a local position with no travel. You will be a part of a team that is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of all utility plants and utility distribution networks on the University of Iowa Main and Oakdale campuses. You must have a current Iowa Journeyman Electrician license Class A or B. . The most critical aspect of this job is safety.  Yours, your teams, and our customers on campus. We are looking for an electrician that can work safely and efficiently, and takes pride in getting the job done right the first time.

 

Daily you will be performing preventative maintenance and repair work on campus, You will ensure all work is performed consistently with Engie’s culture of physical safety, process safety, and psychological safety for all staff, contractors, service providers, and stakeholders.  You will be determining jobsite work sequences and the safety procedures required for each task. You will work with various team members to procure materials, coordinates outages, and complete work by places systems back into service.  You will be performing and documenting pre-job hazard assessments and provide pre-job briefs as needed. Daily you will be completing Installs,  troubleshooting, maintaining, calibrating, and repairing electric utility substation and distribution systems including but not limited to medium voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, cabling systems, and production plant electrical motors, starters, and controls up through 15kV.  You will be Interpreting and maintaining wiring diagrams, schematics, updating system logs, drawings, and documentation on utility systems.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Required to have a current Class A or B Electrician’s license valid in the State of Iowa
  • A minimum of a High school diploma or GED, and completion of a formal Apprenticeship
  • Four (4) years of experience in the trade, inclusive of apprenticeship
  • Two (2) years must be working with high voltage (over 600 volts through 15kV) in an electric utility, power plant, or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of equipment and methods used in general industrial facility or utility maintenance work
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices associated with utility or industrial operations, including those for working around high voltage equipment and the ability to do so with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of electric utility systems and equipment

  • You will be working in tandem with the internal design office and multidisciplinary support functions to create proposals and bids, for new and existing clients.  You will contribute to ENGIE’s commercial performance by providing expertise and utilizing consultative sales skills to win major projects with your  innovative solutions to client’s needs.
  • You will analyze opportunities by understanding customer needs, looking for solutions, and developing the strategy in possible collaboration with the Originator who will have pre-targeted the potential project
  • You will build up and lead the project team and build proposals together by ensuring the management and coordination of ES’s various internal resources: commercial, technical, legal, purchasing, financial, architectural, HR, etc.

Compensation

Salary Range: $146,300 – $224,135.00 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.

De werkomgeving

De business line Urban van Tractebel Engineering creëert duurzame oplossingen door infrastructuur, gebouwen, mobiliteit en energie-efficiëntie te integreren. De belangrijkste klanten van de business line zijn voornamelijk actief in de regionale en industriële ontwikkeling, zowel in de openbare als in de privésector.

 

Je zal werken voor de afdeling Energie-efficiëntie in de productlijn Gebouwen & Complexe structuren van Tractebel. Energie-efficiëntie voor gebouwen en industriële sites speelt natuurlijk een belangrijke rol in de groeistrategie van "Gebouwen en complexe structuren". Je zal hieraan meewerken vanuit ons kantoor te Hasselt, in samenwerking met ons team in Gent.

 

De functie

  • Je zal onze klanten ondersteunen bij de realisatie van onze ambitieuze duurzaamheidsconcepten, van het voorontwerp tot de projectopvolging voor tertiaire en industriële gebouwen.
    • Integratie van passieve oplossingen in de architecturale schil
    • Duurzaam bouwen en passief ontwerp van gebouwen
    • Ontwerpen van energieneutrale gebouwen
    • Ontwikkeling van het technisch concept tijdens de voorontwerpfase
    • Energie-audits
    • Oplossingen bieden om het energieverbruik van een gebouw te verminderen
  • Binnen de afdeling werk je mee aan de voorbereiding van offertes, de uitvoering van projecten, het opstellen van aanbestedingsdocumenten en de opvolging van werken.
  • Het ontwerpen en leveren van technisch-economische analyses van duurzaamheidsconcepten en innovatiestrategieën voor gebouwen behoort ook tot je verantwoordelijkheden
  • Uitvoeren van energy and thermal comfort design studies
  • Onderzoek met betrekking tot BREEAM, LEED of lokale regelgeving onder de aandacht brengen

 

Jouw profiel 

  • Je hebt een masterdiploma in engineering: (elektro-)mechanica, energie, ...
  • Je hebt minstens 5 jaar relevante ervaring met duurzaam bouwen (expertise in CAD, CFD, EPB of gebouwsimulaties)
  • Ervaring met projecten in de industriesector is een pluspunt
  • Je bent een teamspeler en klantgericht
  • Je bent dynamisch en hebt goede communicatieve vaardigheden
  • Je bent bereid te werken vanuit ons kantoor in Hasselt (met af en toe een bezoek aan ons kantoor in Gent)
  • Je hebt een goede praktische kennis van MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Kennis van MS Project en Simulatie Software (Design Builder, ANSYS) is een pluspunt
  • Je spreekt vloeiend Nederlands en hebt een goede kennis van het Engels
