ENGIE North America is seeking a Chilled Water Systems Tech I for a critical role on our University of Iowa team. In this position, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating, as well as performing preventative maintenance and repair tasks on the chilled water plant(s). This role is essential for providing a high-quality experience for our clients. Reporting to the Chilled Water Plant Manager, this position is located on the beautiful University of Iowa campus in Iowa City, IA.

 

Your day will begin with a safety or hand-off meeting, where you will be briefed on the status of the equipment and any issues that may have arisen during the previous shift. Following this, you will oversee the operation and maintenance of turbines, centrifugal chillers, pumps, electric motors, tower fans, and related equipment.

 

Key responsibilities include assisting in the installation and repair of pressure piping for compressed air, water, steam, domestic water, condenser water, chilled water, and condensate. Additionally, you will support the general maintenance of equipment such as chiller tube bundles, heat exchangers, tower fans, gearboxes, drive shafts, pumps, valves, air compressors, and all other plant-related equipment.  These tasks will require utilization of hoisting and rigging tools to move heavy equipment, and proper application of power and hand tools to perform repairs.

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required
  • This role requires a minimum of two years of experience. Which can be a combination of education or experience that involves machinery, equipment and control systems related to utility or production plants 
  • Ability to work on call, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • You must be able to be on location at the University within one (1) hour when designated on call. 
  • After three (3) months of service, demonstrate proficiency in using the computer control system for plant operations and the building interface control system across all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).
  • You will demonstrate after six (6) months of service the ability to determine when adjustments and repairs are necessary according to load requirements and or equipment problems 
  • You have the ability to obtain a Universal chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification after one (1) year of employment 
  • You have the ability to perform mathematical computations 
  • You have the ability to communicate effectively digitally, verbally, and in writing
  • You have the ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • You must possess a valid state issued driver’s license with a clean driving record; Operation of company vehicles is required
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • You must be physically capable to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication
  • You are capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing; sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks and the like as required); kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting
  • You are capable of performing repetitive motions as required
  • You are required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals
  • You must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the like) as required
  • You must be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $22.36 - $32.73 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Ce vei face:

  • Vei urmări funcționarea aparatelor de măsură și control de la Stația U.G. și vei anunța orice defecțiune constatată.
  • Vei efectua operații de separare a impurităților antrenate (apă, condensat), la instalațiile Stației U.G. colectându-le separat.
  • Vei urmări și controla încadrarea parametrilor de funcționare a Stației U.G. pe timpul derulării procesului de tratare gaze și regenerare în limitele prescrise.
  • Vei executa manevrele care asigură continuitatea procesului de tratare (uscare) a gazelor tranzitate prin Stația U.G. (schimbarea de ciclu tratare-regenerare).
  • Vei executa manevrele de izolare a Stației U.G., de dirijare a gazelor pe ocolitor și de evacuare a gazelor din Stația U.G., prin dirijarea și arderea acestora la coș, atunci când situația o cere (defecte majore sau inițierea lucrărilor de  revizie a Stației U.G.).
  • Vei primi și preda serviciul la locul de muncă, pe bază de proces verbal, în care vei consemna situația Stației U.G. și a instalațiilor din grup, defecțiunile și intervențiile ce s-au executat la acestea, precum și alte precizări legate de activitatea ta. 
  • Vei manevra ventilele de pe conductele colectoare la dispoziția superiorului direct, conform programelor de lucru.
  • Vei participa  la lucrările de revizie anuală a Stației U.G.
  • Program: Programul de lucru va fi organizat în 2 schimburi: 12/24,  pe perioada ciclului de extracţie gaze naturale (noiembrie-martie), conform graficului de lucru aprobat şi se derulează în intervalul orar: 08:00-20:00, respectiv un singur schimb, 8 ore/zi, 40 ore/săptămână în intervalul orar: 07:30-15:30, pe perioada ciclului de injecţie gaze naturale (aprilie-octombrie).

 

Experiență, calificări, cunoștințe și abilități:

  • Studii medii de specialitate;
  • Autorizație gaze naturale grad EGT;
  • Experiență minimum 2/3 ani în domeniul înmagazinării gazelor naturale;
  • Experiență în operarea de instalații de petrol/gaze sau similare;
  • Experiență în monitorizarea de instalații prin sisteme de control;
  • Cunoștinte tehnice solide;
  • Cunoștinte privind procedurile specifice de lucru și ordinea de execuție a acestora;
  • Permis AUTO.

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; computer literacy

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in similar position
  • You hold expertise in rooftop C&I and ground mount solar PV installations, along with civil and mechanical aspects of solar PV construction
  • You are proficient in MS Office Suite and experienced in TCP/IP and DAS commissioning
  • You are skilled at identifying and addressing unsafe working conditions, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • You maintain attention to detail, keeping project records and data aligned with company requirements
  • You communicate effectively with all stakeholders and can manage your time efficiently, adapting to changing business needs

  • Must be available to travel domestically  up to up to 70% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips

As a Sales Intern, you will work at the intersection of strategy and execution—translating business plans into action. This internship opportunity is based in Chicago, IL, and runs for three months, from January 2025 to May 2025. You will report to the Senior Origination Analyst.

 

 

  • Support sales campaigns by collaborating with technical experts and contractors to create case studies, tariff analyses, and other technical materials for new customers and prospects
  • Generate leadership reports using Salesforce and other tools, providing insights into ongoing sales efforts and pipeline activity
  • Prospect new leads through various platforms such as Sales Genie and Google Earth, identifying potential customers and opportunities
  • Analyze customer utility bills and conduct desktop site assessments using tools like Energy Toolbase, Helioscope, Pivot, and Plant Predict to inform sales strategies

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or masters degree, in Business, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or similar fields. Scheduled to graduate May 2025
  • Passionate about renewable energy and sustainability, with a strong interest in pursuing a career in solar or renewable energy

Compensation

  • Responsible for finding and resolving errors on utility bills being routed for payment. 

  • Collaborating with vendors and/or clients to investigate and resolve exceptions, including, but not limited to: 

  • Unknown, inactive, & summary exceptions 

  • Supplier/hauler changes 

  • Perform consolidation balancing on complex summary billing  

  • Understand and perform deconsolidation process 

  • General ledger & financial coding updates 

  • Manual GL allocations 

  • Perform critical thinking skills to investigate payment discrepancies such as: 

  • Stale checks 

  • Returned checks 

  • Understand and perform account & site merges 

  • Perform bulk FBI uploads 

  • Responsible for finding and resolving errors on Bankruptcy accounts 

  • Understand and complete Bankruptcy proration  

  • Some manual data entry for summary and international invoices
