Context:

GEMS APAC and global LNG activities are managed out of Singapore. The Business Platform’s purpose is to perform and develop GEM’s trading activities in the APAC region around 4 main pillars: risk management and market access, asset management, green solutions and energy supply businesses.

Role:

 

The Green Solutions Trader is a senior role within Commercial & Green Solutions APAC desk and will report to Head of Green Solutions APAC. The position’s main role will be to develop Green solution activity with in GEMS APAC Business platform and to contribute to growth and profitability in APAC region over the short, medium and long term.

 

 The Green Solutions Trader will be employed by GEMS and based in Singapore.

 

 The Green Solutions Trader will:

  • Develop, Structure, Originate/ trade Green Solutions products in the APAC region with specific focus on Voluntary carbon products, EUA and, as relevant, other commodities and structures.
  • Prepare strategy/ business plan for development of green solution activity across the region with pnl objective in short, medium & long term.
  • Develop client portfolio & monetizable opportunities. Lead the onboarding and relationship management with regional parties, brokers, exchanges, platform, registries etc
  • Participate in designing new offers and structures in APAC for our clients, onboarding new products and watching for energy market liberalization in APAC countries
  • Identify and reinforce collaboration opportunities between GEM and other ENGIE business units in APAC.
  • Contribute to the effective management of relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and develop good working relationships and ensure effective communications with internal stakeholders, including Front office and support functions.
  • Comply with relevant legislation, industry codes of practice, delegated authorities, risk polices, Code of Conduct and related controls.

Hard skills:

  • Relevant experience of running trading books of Voluntary carbon, EUA and develop projects in Trading companies, Banks,
  • Intermediate-Advanced IT competency – Microsoft Office, oil/gas and power market interfaces and ETRM systems
  • Understanding of energy markets, commodity derivatives, power generation and power/gas retail commercial operations and asset backed trading
  • Strong knowledge/ experience and expertise of renewable and carbon markets such as green PPA, RECs and carbon offsets in APAC and international markets
  • Proven track record of success in the development, negotiation and management of business associated with customer activities.
  • Experienced in commodity and other relevant markets, including compliance with financial services legislation and regulations

  • Analytical thinker, ability to deal with complex market arrangements and to understand and specify models and analysis required to support commercial decisions and understand market conditions

Education and professional background:

  • Tertiary degree in relevant discipline e.g. Engineering, Economics

Languages:

  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required.
  • Additional languages are a plus.
