What You Can Expect
As our Electrician I at The Ohio State University, you will install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair utility low, medium, and high voltage electrical utility plant, generation, and distribution systems under the general supervision of higher-level electricians and will report to the High Voltage Supervisor.
- Subject to 24-hour emergency call and perform repairs, replacements, troubleshooting, and installations of electrical systems and equipment up to 600V class.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, upgrades, and inspections of electrical utilities equipment, including lockout/tagout procedures and test equipment usage.
- Overhaul motors, replace bearings, operate cranes, lifts, and other equipment, and maintain electrical equipment in all ENGIE operated utility plants and systems.
- Read and update blueprints, electrical diagrams, manuals, and schematics; make sketches, modification plans, layouts, and design circuits, Maintain records and reports.
- Assist higher-classification electricians with installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of 5,000-138,000 volt electrical distribution equipment, direct contractors, and will also perform other duties to safely and efficiently operate campus utility systems.
What You’ll Bring
- You have a minimum High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years work experience as a commercial/ industrial electrician, 4 of those years should demonstrate experience in installation and maintenance of 600V class electrical systems
- 15kV experience is a plus but not required
- Knowledge of basic principles of electricity and related terminology, ability to read technical manuals, schematic wiring diagrams and volt-ohm-amp testers

- This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license
- will drive company vehicle, while onsite
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;
- This position consists of 50% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use personal computer
- Some lifting is involved
Compensation
Hourly Range: $35.00 to $37.00 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
