  • Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with control equipment under the guidance of the ELECTRICAL Foreman/Engineer.
  • Ability to carry out duties with minimum supervision
  • Practical knowledge of plant isolations from system
  • Knowledge of health & safety and safe working practices
  • Ensures a safe working environment for himself and his colleagues while working on any equipment

TRACTEBEL is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer specializing in the design of High Voltage (HV) substations. The candidate must have expertise in preparing design plans that represent the complete infrastructure of a substation, in compliance with electrical standards, safety regulations, and the requirements of European grid operators. The candidate should also be able to represent the associated civil engineering works, with ensuring conformity with the project's technical specifications (standards, best practices, etc.).
 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Design of High / Medium / Low Voltage Substation Plans :
    • Produce 2D and 3D technical drawings of electrical substations, including the representation of electromechanical equipment (structures, gantries, circuit breakers, disconnectors, power transformers, surge arresters, instrument transformers - CT, VT, etc.).
    • Design cable routing (including accessories), gantry and pylon layout plans, and equipment arrangement according to project specifications.
    • Design the grounding network and associated foundations for the equipment and buildings to be installed.
  2. Compliance with Grid Operator Requirements and Standards:
    • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical standards, such as the minimum safety distances between equipment, protection zones against electrical arcs, and fire safety standards.
    • Familiarity with safety regulations and requirements imposed by grid operators or power producers.
  3. Design of Control Buildings:
    • Prepare plans for substation control buildings, including the layout of control cabinets, communication systems, protection, and measurement equipment.
    • Account for specific needs related to electrical safety, access, handling, ventilation, fire protection, and ergonomic requirements for operating personnel.
  4. Establish Material Lists Based on Prepared Plans:
    • Develop detailed material lists in accordance with the finalized designs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Bac+2 to Bac+3) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience as a designer in the field of High Voltage (HV) substations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in drawing software (Microstation, AutoCAD, or similar).
    • Strong understanding of substation layout concepts and associated equipment (circuit breakers, disconnectors, CT, VT, transformers, GIS, etc.), grounding networks, foundations, and buildings.
    • Knowledge of the principles for arranging protection equipment and control systems.
    • In-depth knowledge of standards related to HV substations (safety standards, minimum distances, etc.).

Additional Skills:

  • Strong team spirit, detail-oriented, flexible, results-oriented, and ability to communicate effectively with project engineers.
  • Demonstrates proactivity in design.

Main Responsibilities include:

Qualifications:

  • A formal Accredited certificate at NQF level 5 or equivalent in Health and Safety management such as SAMTRAC or Nebosh.

Experience:

  • At least 3-4 years HSE experience in a similar role in a large power generation plant: solar, oil & gas or petrochemical.
  • Compilation of SHEQ reports in the required standard.

What You Can Expect

As our Financial Reporting Advisor, you will play a crucial role in compiling and delivering International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)-based financial statements, reporting packages, and analysis to local management, ENGIE Group, and various Canadian and US partnerships.   • Compile and review financial statement reporting packages to ensure compliance with IFRS and US GAAP, and contractual partnership reporting requirements
  • Coordinate statutory and external partnership audits, providing working papers and draft notes disclosures
  • Resource plan to meet reporting and audit deadlines, identifying process bottlenecks and efficiency opportunities
  • Liaise with the Technical Accounting team to ensure compliance with IFRS standards and implement new pronouncements
  • Quantify financial impacts of new accounting rules for ENGIE group reporting and North American partnerships, aligning financial reports with analytical metrics for stakeholders

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance with relevant academic qualifications and intimacy with financial statements
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in external audit, audit coordination, or external financial reporting background for various stakeholders
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the energy industry, or accounting for tax equity partnerships
  • You are CPA certified or currently in progress towards certification
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Products including advanced Excel, Finance/Accounting software packages such as SAP S4 HANA and Adaptive Insight
  • You are an individual with excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, capable of managing multiple assignments accurately and on time
  • You are deadline-driven with project management skills for cross-organizational coordination, with business intelligence reporting products and strong technical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP

Compensation

2. BACKGROUND

 

ENGIE is a long-term partner for Africa’s growing energy needs and a carbon-neutral economy. Our purpose is to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally friendly solutions.

 

The position is key to support ENGIE’s businesses within South Africa, in the context of existing key businesses and strong growth ambitions. ENGIE is involved in the development and operation of renewable assets (onshore wind, solar PV, and concentrated solar power), and flexibility assets (OCGTs, Renewable Hydrogen and Battery Energy Storage).

 

 

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ENGIE’s presence in South Africa is already strong and is set to grow. To grow the business means that the company needs a strong government relations manager to steer and navigate an integrated stakeholder approach aligned to the business focus, delivery and ambitions.

 

The purpose of the Regulatory and Public Affairs Manager role is to develop and lead the integrated strategic approach of government relations for ENGIE South Africa. This position aims to (1) understand key business stakes, then establish and represent the company’s position, as well as (2) monitor and explain relevant regulatory matters within the company (businesses in South Africa and corporate). To succeed, the incumbent will affect collaboration with relevant authorities in the South Africa to review and help frame policy decisions, navigate regulatory frameworks, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. The person in the role will also liaise and coordinate with a network of experts within the Group, in particular the Public Affairs Department, which reports to the Group General Secretary. He or she will be involved in existing networks for exchanges between the heads of public and regulatory affairs in the Group's various geographies. The role will comply with all applicable laws and ENGIE’s Ethical rules and policies.

 

Government and Regulatory Body Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with government agencies, policymakers, and regulatory bodies at various levels to investigate, understand and help frame policy formulation, and encourage regulatory environments that accelerate the energy transition towards a carbon neutral economy.
  • Represent ENGIE South Africa in industry forums, advocating for ENGIE’s businesses across South Africa.

Policy Analysis and Stakeholder Insights:

  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret legislative changes, regulatory trends, and policy developments affecting ENGIE’s businesses.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management based on in-depth policy analysis, anticipating potential impacts on business operations. Prepare position papers on key topics.

Government Relations and Advocacy:

  • Interpret national policy changes and developments to inform business strategy.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy to enhance ENGIE’s reputation and visibility in the energy transition space, linked to the group and country strategy.
  • Communicate and advocate for the ENGIE strategy in South Africa.  
  • Leverage the local, national, and group mechanisms to bolster government advocacy and relations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to effectively communicate the company's vision, initiatives, and contributions to sustainable energy solutions.
  • Drive advocacy campaigns, leveraging thought leadership and partnerships with communications to improve public understanding of and support for energy transition initiatives.
  • Ensure company-wide understanding of the political and regulatory environment and support cross-functional teams.
  • Provide a comprehensive view of the ENGIE South Africa stakeholder landscape for the leadership team.
  • When needed, arrange key meetings with ENGIE stakeholders and key government stakeholders.
  • Manage the relationship with key foreign government stakeholders and agencies on behalf of ENGIE.

Risk Management and Compliance Alignment:

  • Assess regulatory risks, based on political developments and coordinate proactive measures to mitigate potential impacts on business operations and project timelines.
  • Implement systems and processes for ongoing regulatory monitoring, reporting, and compliance assurance, with legal.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Foster collaboration across departments including legal, finance, operations, communications, ESG and business development and GBUs to align public and regulatory strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate between the broader Regulatory and Public Affairs team within the group and other countries to adopt the best practice and bolster the South African approach.

ESG Collaboration and Support:

  • Provide strategic support to the ESG team, in incorporating relevant regulatory changes the overall ESG strategy and approach for ENGIE South Africa.
  • Support the ESG team in their engagement with local government stakeholders.
  • Contributing to societal reporting, managing stakeholder relations, and integrating government stakeholder criteria into investment decision-making.

5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education

Experience and Qualifications Required:

The job holder will have:

As our Quality Control & Commissioning Technician, you will manage quality controls and assurance and commissioning standards, perform quality inspections of projects, track QA/QC data points, assist other ENGIE personal and external contractors with quality standard, engaging with our engineering team in an ongoing feedback loop.

 

  • Manage Quality Control and Assurance: Oversee ENGIE's quality control, assurance, and commissioning standards to ensure project compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and Create Quality Documentation: Manage the database of quality and commissioning documents, and create new documents as needed to support project consistency
  • Conduct Inspections and Track Punch Lists: Perform quality inspections throughout project construction, create and track punch lists, and ensure installations meet ENGIE standards and applicable codes
  • Collaborate with Teams and Contractors: Assist internal teams, departments, and external contractors in understanding and applying quality standards, harmonizing these across ENGIE’s operations
  • Review and Improve Designs: Provide design feedback to enhance value, efficiency, and compliance while incorporating input from contractors and engineering teams
  • Track and Report Quality Data: Regularly track and publish quality inspection data and findings, ensuring continuous improvement through engagement with the engineering team

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; computer literacy

What You Can Expect

As our Project Management Senior Advisor, you will be responsible for the technical development, administration and implementation of energy system projects related to new partnerships with universities or commercial and industrial entities, that aim at reducing carbon and energy consumptions. These energy systems encompass the production and distribution of electricity, chilled water, heating hot water, and steam, along with the distribution of natural gas.

 

Every day you will lead the delivery of large capital projects safely, on budget, on time, and meet high quality standards, within the Energy Solutions North America business unit.

 

  • For business development projects or acquisitions, this role will heavily coordinate with the Major Projects team composed of contracts managers, project managers, engineering, project management office, the business development team, and all other support functions.

 

  • For large projects at existing partnerships, this role will liaise with and provide best practice sharing to the other members of the capital projects team including, but not limited to, Georgetown University in Washington, DC, Iowa University in Iowa City, IA and Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.

 

You will report to the Vice President of Major Capital Projects & IPOS.        

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You will possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technical discipline, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • You will need a minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in project management
  • You have experience leading design/engineering firms, construction contractors, qualified equipment vendors, and suppliers to ensure projects are executed on time, under budget, with no health, safety, environmental, and public relations incidents
  • You will hire and manage the project team including internal staff and external consultants required to deliver large industrial projects and provide lateral management to other ENGIE employees supporting the project
  • You will develop and update project definition documents, including but not limited to, scope, schedule, budget forecasts, resource requirements, risk registers, and benefit estimates. Diligently assess any potential savings to reach the best return on investment for the client
  • You will demonstrate flexibility to changing business and project conditions, develop and present alternative solutions to problems, and recommend a course of action to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget
  • You will measure project performances relying on KPI’s for engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and start-up to report at minimum monthly, identifying variances and taking corrective actions to achieve project objectives
  • You will provide regular reports to ENGIE leadership with key statistics, and summary reports
  • You will establish stakeholder management plans to understand needs and expectations and to ensure effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the project
  • You will implement quality control processes to confirm project deliverables meet the required standards and conduct regular quality audits and inspections
  • You will collaborate in the development of processes and tools necessary to measure, analyze, and improve the performance of the portfolio of projects and report results to key stakeholders. Support the standardization of ENGIE’s project management tools, templates, and technologies

Funciones

· Ejecución del plan de mantenimiento preventivo de las instalaciones asignadas, en la especialidad de instalaciones frigoríficas. Mantenimiento de sistemas de regulación y control
· Análisis de datos de producción de frio.
· Interpretación de esquemas y planos.
· Medir los parámetros y realizar las pruebas y verificaciones, tanto funcionales como reglamentarias de las instalaciones, para comprobar y ajustar su funcionamiento; Localizar y diagnosticar las disfunciones de los equipos y elementos de las instalaciones, utilizando los medios apropiados y aplicando procedimientos establecidos con la seguridad requerida.
· Realización de los trabajos de mantenimiento correctivos de aquellas instalaciones de las que sea responsable; Reparar, mantener y sustituir equipos y elementos en las instalaciones, en condiciones de calidad, seguridad y respeto al medio ambiente para asegurar o restablecer las condiciones de funcionamiento.
· Identificación de necesidades del cliente adicionales al contrato y reporting de las mismas para ser abordadas por parte de negocio.
· Identificación de medidas de mejora de la calidad del servicio, la seguridad y el medio ambiente.
· Gestiones administrativas propias del puesto: Realización de partes de horas de trabajo, registro de tareas y actividades realizadas, etc.

 

Condiciones

Horario: rotativos + guardia 24h cada tres semanas.

De mayo a septiembre jornada de martes a domingo con sus respectivos descansos.
