Compensation

Salary Range: $99,000 – $151,800 USD annually

What You Can Expect

As the Electrical Instrumentation Technician Senior, you will be responsible for performing selective maintenance on various in-plant and/or satellite plant equipment.  The work will include the proper maintenance and operation of complex electrical systems, computers, controls systems, etc. and equipment that can directly affect the safety and operation of the plant. Every day you will perform routine plant electrical/control maintenance functions including, but not limited to, motors, MCCs, relays, breakers, electrical disconnects of rotating machinery, UPS/battery systems, and all electrical hand tools. Additionally, you will analyze electrical/controls problems and take appropriate action to correct and advise supervisor when outside assistance from vendors, engineering contractors, and/or consultants is necessary. 

  • Work with actuators, analyzers, pumps, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Support and maintain low-voltage control systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control logic diagrams
  • Monitor automated operation and fine-tune system performance as needed
  • Upgrade legacy systems by retrofitting PLCs, HMIs, networks to integrate new functions
  • Identify obsolete components and recommend new products and solutions
  • Continuously expand PLC programming knowledge and analytical skills
  • Utilize a CMMS for writing/completing work orders with notes to document work performed

 

What You'll Bring

  • A minimum educational level of a High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience; or training that totals five (5) years, that is directly applicable to this role
  • You have experience applying regulations and guidelines of local, state, and national electrical and safety codes
  • Ability to complete written reports in the Maintenance Management System and communicate technical details and safety concerns or  instructions  verbally with other technicians, vendors, students staff and the general public

As the Senior Project Manager, you will work closely with the Development team from a execution perspective in order to prepare a project for handoff to a construction project manager. You will also work with our internal staff to understand the technical aspects of the system design and be responsible for managing utility infrastructure projects associated with expanding and maintaining the utility system on the campus.   • Tracks and analyzes progress on project-level spend in relation to approved budget baselines
  • Cites any budget-relates issues and processes change to ensure budget baselines are accurate prior to, and throughout installation
  • Provides regular status reports to clients and other external parties as necessary, including previously-mentioned schedule and budget/cost updates
  • Ensures that all installations meet plans and specifications, permitting and interconnection requirements, and client expectation

What You Can Expect

As a Water Treatment Technician, you'll maintain the University of Iowa's drinking water treatment plant and support the High-Quality Water Group, which oversees various facilities including the Oakdale Water Plant, MacBride Nature Recreation Area Public Water System, and campus pools and spas. This position entails day shift work from Monday to Friday, with rotational on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays, requiring you to be on-site within one hour when called upon.

Every day you will review priorities and plan tasks. You'll interact with students, faculty, and staff, explaining service and repair processes and addressing safety concerns professionally and courteously. Your responsibilities encompass performing preventative maintenance and repairs on various water treatment equipment (e.g., water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, filtration systems). Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining large plant equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, and compressors.

  • Monitoring and maintaining chemical injection and piping systems (PVC, copper, steel)
  • Conducting electrical troubleshooting (e.g., checking voltage to pumps, switches, motors)

 

What You'll Bring

  • A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience or a combination of training and experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and software systems for process analysis, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), data processing, and report generation
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, including confined space entry, fall protection, forklift operation, lockout/tagout procedures, process safety and risk management, respirator usage, and chemical safety
  • Certification as a Water Treatment or Distribution Operator in the State of Iowa is required or a willingness to obtain certification

  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite
  • This is a field position requiring regular travel within the University of Iowa campus and satellite location to client site(s) and supply houses

ENGIE North America is seeking a Director of Capital Projects, to be located at the beautiful University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, IA.  The Director is responsible for a team of Project Managers and Construction Managers, who oversee subcontractor-led engineering, construction and commissioning activities for projects for the utility system at the University of Iowa, including district heating and cooling, water treatment, and power generation and distribution systems.

 

The Director reports to our Vice President of Partnerships located in Iowa City, and will interface with leaders of other internal departments, including Project Development, Procurement, Operations, Legal, and Project Finance, to drive forth yearly operational delivery goals. The candidate for this position should have a background in both managing utility construction projects and in managing teams of individuals.

 

  • No two days are the same here, daily you will be working with your teams of Program and Project Managers, to ensure that projects are completed safely and economically, and on time, while interfacing with stakeholders to limit projects impact on campus operations.  Directly accountable for meeting delivery metrics on an annual basis. You will work daily to foster an environment of growth and mentorship within the team, focusing on continual training, process improvement, procedural compliance, and review of lessons learned. You will grow and maintain cooperative and collaborative interaction with various university departments and managers focusing on the long-term success of the Concession Agreement.  You will review and evaluate the project pipeline within the 5 year plan to ensure high quality projects are selected and properly developed for the delivery team. You’ll Collaborate frequently with legal to review and develop contracts for our engineering and installation partners that ensure risks are analyzed and appropriately addressed prior to mobilization.
  • You will collaborate with procurement professionals ensuring a streamlined approach to engineering, labor, and material supply agreements forecasted against portfolio needs, including bid evaluations, for labor and supplies and negotiation of contracts, and Master Services Agreements.
  • You will support project finance activities including responding to questions from our investor’s on behalf of ENGIE.

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum education of a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is required
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects, including training and/or certifications
  • A Minimum of five (5) years of direct project management experience, in the construction of utility projects or projects of similar complexity
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or the desire and ability to gain one
  • You will have gained experience in presenting to clients and stakeholders using  excellent oral, written and digital communication skills
  • You are proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, and tools similar to Procore, and SalesForce
  • You have gained expertise in construction processes and activity-sequencing
  • You are an expert practitioner of leadership and problem-solving skills
  • You have knowledge of Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) and managing the stakeholder experience
  • You consistently handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • You have acquired the ability to consistently balance overall group strategy with individual project/product performance

Compensation

Salary Range: $150,600 – $230,920.00 USD annually

What You Can Expect
Our Chilled Water Plant Intern, located at the University of Iowa campus, will work closely with our plant staff. This team oversees chillers in four plants across campus and interfaces with systems in each building served by the chilled water system. The intern will gain insights into plant operations, contribute to materials inventory tracking development and execution, and learn to operate various systems.

 

We are actively seeking an intern available for 5-15 hours per week during the semester, with a commitment of 40 hours per week during the summer internship program. Our operational hours are from 7 am to 3:30 pm, and we provide flexibility within this timeframe for start and end times. This internship is open for the Spring/Summer semester, with employment planned to continue until December 31, 2025.

 

On a daily basis, you will collaborate with our Chilled Water Plant Manager, as well as the operations and maintenance teams. You will participate in diverse tasks such as data collection and analysis, modeling, and providing recommendations for system design enhancements, operational procedures, preventative maintenance programs, purchasing, and record-keeping systems.

 

  • Learn to independently identify maintenance needs and develop corrective work orders
  • Learn to efficiently develop and maintain results and analyses of the chilled water systems across campus, collaborating with Chilled Water management and planning staff to identify, document, and track chilled water system performance and maintenance needs
  • Develop the ability to independently identify operational procedures to draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Preventative Maintenance procedures
  • Gain experience in Maintaining equipment inventory databases, following the direction of Chilled Water management and planning staff. Inventory may be stored in spreadsheets, databases, or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), depending on dataset and usage requirements

What You Can Expect

Our intern located at the University of Iowa campus in Iowa city, IA will be learning how to safely sample and treat water. This group maintains water treatment and measures water quality for buildings that are utilizing water softening, reverse osmosis, deionization, distillation processes and swimming pool and spa water quality, as well as heating and cooling loops.

 

Everyday is different in this internship. A typical day will include independently learning and ultimately conducting water sampling using prescribed techniques, and some light maintenance. You may assist with retrieval and analysis of sampling results, developing and maintaining trending of readings to help identify maintenance needs or design flaws leading to poor quality water.  You may also assist with the execution of m inventory tracking, using a variety of computer programs, and will learn to perform analysis of key data indicating need for replacement or upgrade of equipment to ensure quality water is delivered.

 

Objectives:

  • Be able to independently identify leaks and malfunctions in water treatment systems and contact the Water Services Planner to develop a Corrective Work Order in the Computerized Maintenance System (CMMS)
  • Efficiently develop and maintain results and analyses of water quality for systems across campus, working at the direction of the Manager, Quality Water Services, to help uncover water quality issues and maintenance needs
  • Maintain equipment inventory databases, working at the direction of Manager, Quality Water Services and/or Water Services Planner. Inventory could be retained in spreadsheet, database, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), or ArcGIS, depending on dataset and usage

 

We are very flexible during the school year you can come in and train during any of our operating shifts, gaining hours and operational experience.  You will work rotating shifts on assigned weekends ( we operate three shifts).

What You Can Expect

As our Utility Performance Programming Intern based at the University of Iowa campus, you'll play a crucial role in leveraging real-time and historical data to enhance efficiency and cost savings for the campus utility system, providing steam, electricity, chilled water, water, and sewer services. You'll utilize the PI System software to connect with control systems at the campus Power Plant, Chilled Water Plants, Water Plant, and Electrical Distribution Systems, as well as real-time metering for various utilities across approximately 90 buildings. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the design, development, and deployment of custom applications interacting with the PI System, relational databases, web APIs, Office 365, and other systems.

 

We're actively seeking an intern available for 10-15 hours per week during the semester, with availability for additional hours during summer or school breaks. The intern will work at the Energy Control Center in the USB building on campus, with operational hours from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm,  we are offering flexibility within this timeframe for start and end times. This internship is available for the 2025 School year with planned  employment to continue until December 31, 2025. Other internships may be available upon expected end date.

 

On a daily basis, you'll collaborate with our Utilities Performance Manager, Senior Software Developer, and Energy Analyst, following modern software engineering principles and best practices to develop, test, maintain, and deploy custom applications that interact with utility system data.

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Must be an enrolled student at the University of Iowa
  • Completed coursework in data structures, object-oriented programming, software development, or related programming courses is required
