What You Can Expect

As our Health and Safety Advisor in Chicago, IL, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Health and Safety programs for the Distributed Solar & Storage (DSS) team, partnering with other Business Entities and Operating Companies’ and Health and Safety (H&S) staff to influence an organizational culture that leads to an injury free working environment. Every day you will support safety excellence through engaging with project staff and leadership, incident review, safety trend tracking, and providing training and guidance. You will report to the HSE Director and assist in development and implementation of a H&S Management System that encompasses standards of excellence, programs, policies, procedures and processes for ENGIE Energy Solutions (ES) North America.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Engineering or Business
  • Certified Safety Professional and OSHA safety certifications
  • A minimum seven (7) years’ Safety Management, with three  (3) of those years’ experience in power generation and energy distribution
  • Subject matter expert in OSHA (US) CFR 29 Parts 1910 / 1926
  • Experience with root cause failure analysis tools and their application for recordable events
  • Experience with behavioral science and the psychology behind influencing change
  • Experience in commercial and industrial construction environments
  • You have experience working in environments with  energy distribution systems, new construction of solar and battery storage sites, and facility O&M management
  • You feel confident in supporting H&S database management and providing required monthly statistical reports to ES North America Business Unit (BU) corporate and Business Entity (BE) executives
  • As our Health and Safety Advisor you will conduct regular onsite training, supervision, compliance audits, incident investigations, and safety cultural assessments
  • You know how to as directed, lead serious incident investigations into High Potential (HiPo) incidents, including those that result in a lost time accident 
  • You can identify countermeasures to prevent recurrence and eliminate deviations from the standard
  • You have managed the selection of third-party H&S auditors, consultants and contractors
  • You have experience reviewing contractor safety plans and procedures to assure their standard is equal or more stringent than ES NorAm’s safety criteria as stipulated in the procurement Terms & Conditions

 

 

Additional Details

  • This is a field position requiring regular travel to operational  sites
  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite 
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 50% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record rental cars through ENGIE

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,100 – $147,660 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

What you’ll do:

Water Operations professionals at ENGIE North America are responsible for:

  • Safe and compliant operation of the University of Iowa Water plant ( A grade IV State of Iowa Surface Water Treatment Plant)
  • Supplying the drinking water to the University campus and Hospital facility
  • Operating the plant machinery, completing rounds assessing physical operating conditions of the equipment, and submitting / scheduling work orders performing water sampling, testing, and logging the sampling activities and reporting of operational conditions
  • After sampling and testing, adjusting and correcting all phases of the water treatment processes safely and efficiently
  • After developing competencies on our specific equipment and processes operators will be involved in instruction and training of other operators in plant procedures and processes related to equipment operation, sampling, testing, and reporting 
  • Other day to day duties include inventorying of chemicals and supplies, light maintenance and upkeep of the facility

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Operators will have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, and a State of Iowa Department of Natural Resources Class I Water Treatment Certification or Higher
  • Through education or experience the Operator will have developed a strong knowledge of occupational hazards and implementation of safety procedures regarding plant equipment, chemical handling and personal safety
  • You will have developed expertise in Water Treatment and plant operations, including usage of laboratory testing and measuring devices, making adjustments based on testing results  and remote telemetry systems for plant condition monitoring
  • You will have gained experience in evaluating equipment conditions, using complex prints, sketches, or diagrams to complete minor repairs or adjustments, and creating effective reports or work orders for  scheduling or contacting maintenance and management
  • You will have gained experience using Computers, and multiline phone systems, to create or give a detailed actionable verbal or written report to Stakeholders (Customers, Management, Maintenance)
  • Experienced with supervising vendors or contractors working on our equipment, ensuring safety practices in compliance with ENGIE policies and ensuring quality of repair or installation

What You Can Expect

Our Steamfitter will be working at the University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, and the Satellite campus in Oakdale. This employee will be performing preventative maintenance and repair services on Utility Distribution piping systems for steam, domestic water, hot water for heating and chilled water for cooling.  Our responsibilities on campus include both direct-buried and tunneled systems as well as sanitary and storm sewer systems.

 

ENGIE at the University of Iowa employs over 100 energy professionals in the trades, technical specialties, engineering, management, and support to operate the utility production and distribution systems, driving toward greater use of renewable and sustainable fuels.

A typical day consists of performing preventive maintenance and repairs on utility Distribution Piping Systems, and servicing equipment used by the department to perform services such as Diesel powered pumps, compressors, backflow equipment.  In this role you will Install operate, troubleshoot, and repair High-pressure Systems (90 psig or greater) You will service steam pressure reducing stations, expansion joints Steam meters, steam traps, steam valves.  Inspect and service direct buried pre-insulated, large diameter buried domestic and chilled water mains, valves, and fire hydrants, hot water lines, valves, and expansion joints, compressed air lines, air regulators, and valves storm and sanitary sewers, utility access holes. Install piping systems and equipment (i.e. pumps, valves). Repairing or fabricating by Welding  using arc, gas, Heli arc, and spot-welding techniques.  You will be Interpreting and maintaining diagrams, schematics, system logs, drawings, and documentation on utility systems You Assists in arranging building shutdowns of all mechanical distribution utilities for Service work ensuring that customers and stakeholders are notified and that work is completed with employee and customer safety as an absolute priority. You determine Jobsite work sequences and safety procedures required, procures materials, coordinates outages, complete work, and place systems back into service.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A Minimum of a High school diploma or GED or equivalent

  • Four years’ experience in one or more aspects of the trade, pipefitting, welding, plumbing, or similar; or a combination of work and education such as an apprenticeship, trade school or military training.
  • Knowledge of  work processes used when working with steam at pressures greater than 90 psig.
  • knowledge of utility systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of tools and methods necessary to troubleshoot and maintain utility piping systems
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques used in the steam and piping trades
  • Knowledge of trade occupational hazards and safety precautions while working in confined spaces, aerial or elevated locations, extreme temperatures, excavations, and other environmental caused conditions
  • Knowledge of building and piping codes, utility standards, and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of local, state, and national safety codes, equipment manufacturers, and others
  • Experience reading and understanding blueprints, schematics, control system drawings, and repair manuals
  • Experience with welding techniques and equipment
  • Experience maintaining records and system documentation
  • Ability to perform basic measurements, and  math computations
  • Ability to analyze system problems, recommend, and implement system changes
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with other department personnel, vendors and suppliers, students, staff, and the public

What You Can Expect

As our Steam Fitter I, at The Ohio State University, you will maintain, repair, and install system components for steam, condensate, chilled water, natural gas, heating hot water and associated components such as valves, expansion joints, flex lines, flanges, steam traps, check valves. Operate system valves for facility repairs and distribution, read and prepare sketches. Every day you will follow operating, safety and environmental standards, and  work as part of a maintenance team with a goal of decreasing downtime and improving efficiency. What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • You have a minimum 2 years’ experience in piping system repairs
  • You can troubleshoot systems including but not limited to steam and condensate, chilled water, and natural gas meter settings
  • You are responsible for the installation and repairing of expansion joints, valves, gaskets, steam traps, pumps and other mechanical items found in utility distribution systems and plants
  • You will read drawings, complete layouts, cut/join and fit pipe tubing

What You Can Expect

As our Metering Technician, at Georgetown University, you will be responsible for the implementation and overall maintenance of the campus and central plant instrumentation metering instrumentation. 

Every day you will utilize calibration equipment for meter calibrations, including:

    • Field communicator with HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer)

What You’ll Bring

Goal Of Section: 

  • High school education; with minimum three (3) years of experience in industrial power plant controls and instrumentation
  • You possess knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • You configure, troubleshoot and repair issues with boilers, chillers, steam, chilled water, gas, electric and hot water instrumentation (analytical, pressure, differential pressure and temperature transmitters and RTD, steam meters, magnetic flow meters & ultrasonic flow meters)
  • You install, troubleshoot and repair network communication equipment
  • You install, maintain and repair sensing lines, valves and fittings
  • You maintain, repair and terminate low voltage signal wiring for instrumentation controls
  • You maintain detailed maintenance and calibration records
  • You have experience participating in new instrumentation start-ups and commissioning
  • You can assist in configuring meter points, history, trends and alarming in the Data Acquisition system and  monitor meter systems for issues
  • You will open, update and close work orders for each job or repair
  • You are experienced in reviewing and updating system documentation, including wiring diagrams
  • You will perform other duties, as required in order to assist in the overall enhancement of the operation

What You Can Expect

Our Electrical Engineer III, will be located at the University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, IA. You will be will be involved in the Electrical Engineering design, construction, operations and troubleshooting activities for utility power, chilled water, steam, and water production and associated distribution systems at ENGIE at The University of Iowa. Your primary focus will be on becoming a subject matter expert in electrical systems at this site, with occasional support extended to other locations. You'll collaborate closely with internal departments, customers, and external partners throughout the utility projects' lifecycle, from development and construction to ongoing operations. you'll provide occasional consultancy services, aiding in troubleshooting and operations beyond the utility meter.

 

You'll be responsible for maintaining the campus-wide electrical model for both ENGIE and The University, with a keen focus on ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Your duties will extend to conducting arc flash modeling and relay coordination across all voltage levels, spanning ENGIE and The University of Iowa's Main and Oakdale campuses. You will play a crucial role in troubleshooting electrical distribution issues for ENGIE and the University, addressing concerns on both sides of the building meter to ensure seamless operations.

 

Your involvement will also encompass participating in switching plans and curtailments, working closely with our Regional Electrical Provider to ensure compliance and optimize efficiency. You'll be tasked with performing peak load calculations to enhance system performance and reliability. You'll be responsible for drafting comprehensive event summaries to document key activities and outcomes, facilitating clear communication and accountability across all stakeholders.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or another engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university

  • Either a PE License or a willingness to obtain one, showcasing your commitment to professional development and adherence to industry standards
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience where you have demonstrated a solid understanding of electrical design, power generation, distribution, and/or utility systems while gaining experience developing standards, specifications, and documentation
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code and NFPA 70E, essential for ensuring compliance and safety in electrical systems
  • Proficiency in electrical design, calculation, and analysis tools such as AutoCAD and SKM or their competitors
  • A strong understanding of arc flash, short circuit, load flow, and protective systems design and operation, critical for maintaining system reliability and safety
  • You have participated in the development of technical specifications, procurement, installation and operations for power plant, medium voltage distribution, substations, and associated protective relaying and control  systems
  • Experienced in coordinating with external electric utilities on transmission interconnection design and operations and incident investigations and event summarization
  • Experience in assisting contracted third-party design firms of utility systems, demonstrating your ability to collaborate effectively with external partners
  • You are a skilled troubleshooter of utility and customer electrical systems
  • Up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and regulatory conditions, including utility requirements, vendor qualifications, industry best practices, safety standards, and relevant standards development

  • Proficient in verbal, written and electronic communications using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to  create emails presentations and other professional communicate to Internal customers, vendors and other stakeholders
  • Experienced in building relationships and collaborating with project development, design, construction and operations teams facilitating smooth project execution and operation

 

 

Additional Details

  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 5% of the time with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record operation of company vehicles is required
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position consist of 20% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments or projects on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

Compensation

Salary Range: $84,000 – $128,800 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE North America is seeking an Electrician I.  This position will be  servicing the electrical distribution network at the University of Iowa campus.  This role requires the highest regard for safety. Under general supervision, applies knowledge, skills and abilities at the journey level to install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electric utility substation, distribution and production plant electrical equipment operating at less than 600 volts.

 This role reports to the Electrical Distribution Manager and is located on the University of Iowa campus.

What you’ll do: 

  • Install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electric utility systems; including low voltage power distribution systems, switchgear, protection and control systems, lighting, ventilation and pumping systems, battery systems, instrumentation, motor starters and controls and conduit, cable and wiring systems operating at less than 600 volts
  • Determines jobsite work sequences and safety procedures required, procures materials, coordinates outages, completes work, places systems back into service
  • Interprets and maintains wiring diagrams, schematics, updates system logs, drawings and documentation on utility systems
  • Works around and with medium voltage (600 volts to 15kV) utility systems under the direction of High Voltage Electricians

 

What you bring:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • State of Iowa Class A or B Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Journey level electrician with experience in the trade preferred, particularly with utility systems in a utility, power plant or industrial environment
  • Valid State issued Driver’s License, Commercial driver’s license is desirable
  • Ability to arrive at the facility within one hour when on call
  • Knowledge of electric utility systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of tools and methods necessary to troubleshoot and maintain electrical utility equipment
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the electrical trade
  • Knowledge of the trade occupational hazards and safety precautions while working in confined spaces, aerial or elevated locations, extreme temperatures, excavations, and other environmental caused conditions
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards, and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of local, state, and national electrical and safety codes, equipment manufacturers and others
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, control system drawings and repair manuals
  • Ability to perform basic math computations
  • Ability to maintain records and system documentation
  • Ability to analyze system problems, recommend and implement system changes
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with other department personnel, vendors and suppliers, students, staff, and the general public
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
