The opportunity:

The Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group. GEMS teams manage ENGIE’s highly diversified energy portfolio and provide a range of trading risk management solutions to all types of market participants in Europe, Asia Pacific and in the Americas.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a data and reporting analyst to join our Middle Office & Business Control team, where you will report to the Head of Middle Office and Business Control, in a collegiate and friendly environment.

 

The position is a 12 month fixed term contract arising from a member of the team’s planned parental leave and works within our trading floor environment at our Freshwater Place offices (hybrid) in Southbank.

 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Extraction and analysis of data from GEMS core systems to generate and explain daily economic P & L positions for GEMS Australia/ NZ and also the other wholesale books of other ENGIE ANZ business units
  • Establish budgets and analyse monthly results working with internal stakeholders for sources of data and in support of your objectives
  • Participate and contribute to other ad hoc tasks as required and support trading and commercial teams on reports, analysis and performance

 

About you:

  • Good data analysis, data extraction, manipulation and governance skills
  • Experience producing P&L and writing commentary to explain financial data
  • Knowledge of Australian energy markets highly regarded
  • Ability to tell a story with data after learning the business domain
  • High level of quantitative analysis and financial engineering skills – ideal but not essential
  • Proven ability for learning and a natural curiosity
  • SQL, advanced excel is advantageous
