About the Role

As part of the operational team, the job holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient running of the anaerobic digestion facilities at our Rainbarrow Farm facility (DT2 9JF).  The job holder will support the Site Manager, Assistant Site Managers and the Maintenance Manager to ensure the plants run continuously at optimal efficiency. 

 

You will be responsible for delivering a quality product efficiently, safely and professionally within set budgets and agreed timescales.    

 

The role will be site based on an operational day-hours shift. There will also be an on-call rota requiring some weekend work.   On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Assistant Plant Manager in the day to day running of the plant including feeding, monitoring and provision of maintenance services at Rainbarrow Farm AD Plant. 

  • To support the Maintenance Manager by either undertaking preventative and reactive maintenance to the facility on an individual basis or as part of a team for larger jobs.   

  • Assisting with the harvests, storage and loading of feedstock into digestion plant using a telehandler or loader.    

  • Loading and unloading of delivery vehicles including digestate collections in both bulk and bags 

  • Assisting the Plant Maintenance team with general maintenance including fault finding and repairs on pumps and motors.  Ensuring that all preventative and reactive maintenance is carried out in accordance with the maintenance plans within set timeframes. 

  • Responsible for plant daily/weekly/monthly checks and ensuring that these are carried out within the timescales set and recorded accurately in line with the Company protocols. 

  • Assist the plant maintenance team in ensuring good stock control of the site stores and keeping the area clean and tidy and well organised.  

  • Responsible for site cleanliness and for maintaining excellent housekeeping.  This includes some general maintenance of the green landscape areas including weeding, spraying (training to be provided) and strimming etc. 

  • Assisting the maintenance manager with general clamp maintenance. 

  • Assist with clamp coverage and clamp cover removals and associated tasks 

  • Monitoring IT control systems and responding accordingly. This will include remote monitoring when on call or off site. 

  • Adhering to, monitoring and responding appropriately to site processes and procedures.  Checking with the Assistant Manager/ Maintenance Manager, or in their absence responsible for, ensuring all contractors have correct permits to work and paperwork in place prior to any commencement of works 

  • Working with the Assistant Manager to ensure accurate Meter readings are processed. 
    Weighbridge operations – a good working knowledge of the weighbridge process and how that works.   

  • Supporting the Site and Assistant Managers, the Maintenance Operator will also have responsibility for ensuring all elements of health and safety protocols are adhered to.   

  • Ensuring all near misses, incidents and accidents are reported immediately to the management team in accordance with the company protocols in place. 

  • Maintaining good liaison with colleagues – good communication skills essential. 
    Liaising with the partner farming teams delivering feedstock into the plants.   

  • At times you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the plant and emergency call out.   This is based on a rota system. 

  • Support training programs when required to facilitate knowledge sharing for plant and operations.

  • Ensure ENGIE company policies are followed at all times reporting any breaches to the Senior Management team. 
     

Knowledge and skills:

  • Previous experience within an engineering or industrial background  

  • Proven experience in fault finding including trouble shooting and problem solving  

  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team  

  • Self-motivated and have the ability to work using own initiative  

  • Good analytical skills  

  • Competent IT skills  

  • Ability to communicate at all levels  

  • Full UK driving licence and ability to drive machinery ie. Telehandler, forklift etc.  

 

Experience/qualifications

Essential

  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable but full training will be provided

  • First Aider

  • IOSH working safely  

  • Fork lift licence

  • Electrical safety awareness 

  • Confined space  

  • Abrasive wheels  

  • PASMA (working with tower scaffolding etc at height)

  • DSEAR awareness   

  • Sprayer pesticide safe use.
