What You Can Expect

As our Power Plant Maintenance Mechanic, at ENGIE’s Medical Area Total Energy Plant (MATEP), you will be responsible for performing installation, maintenance repair, overhauls, and testing of various diesel engine driven equipment.  You will also provide supervisors with all pertinent information concerning equipment and submit written reports as requested.  You may also be assigned to complete various non-diesel tasks, all under the supervision of the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor.

 

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy diesel engine maintenance and repair, or equivalent 
  • You have specialized technical training, or equivalent familiarity with the use of precision measuring devices, and the ability to read and understand technical drawings and instruction manuals
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license, Forklift, 3A Hoisting Licenses
  • You should have sound knowledge of the application and use of diagnostic equipment
  • You will install, inspect, overhaul, and maintain diesel engine driven equipment including all engine components
  • You must perform maintenance and repairs to auxiliary systems that directly support the operation of the diesels, which are common in design, installation, and operation to other power plant support systems
  • You will perform maintenance, repairs, or overhauls to non-diesel systems, as necessary to meet plant operational needs
  • You will prepare technical data and equipment observation reports necessary for proper diagnostic work and machinery history records
  • You will determine and obtain parts and supplies from stock as required to perform repairs, maintenance, and overhaul work; prepare stockroom requisitions as required
  • You must prepare and submit information to supervisors as needed to order parts and materials required in the general performance of job assignments
  • You will be responsible for maintaining work areas and shop facilities in a clean, orderly, and safe condition
  • You will observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices and perform work in accordance with recognized trade and company standards and, where applicable, local, state, and federal laws
  • You must participate in mandatory training and other programs
  • Must participate in emergency response
  • You will perform other related duties as required

 

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis;
  • Working Shift: Tuesday – Saturday; Day Shift; 6:00am to 2:30pm
  • May be required to work overtime - relief, off-shift, and emergency coverage (nights, weekends,) and/or other, as needed
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position consists of 20% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

Compensation

Hourly:  $57.33 USD hourly

 

Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by International Union of Operating Engineers-Local 877. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union.

What You Can Expect

As a Utility Plant Operator I (UPO I) at our University of Iowa location, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating power generation equipment that powers campus facilities, including the University Hospital. This equipment includes, pumps, air compressors, conveying systems, fans, electric motors, ash conveying systems, control valves, mobile equipment, and other industrial equipment.

 

Each day begins with a handoff from the previous shift to understand the current operating status of the plant and tasks to be completed. The primary task of a UPO I involves the safe operation of the plant's equipment. You will conduct hourly rounds, monitoring equipment status, checking for leaks or abnormalities. Additional responsibilities include housekeeping tasks, and completing logs at the end of rounds and shift. Assisting with weekly preventive maintenance (PM) during day shifts.

 

We currently operate three steam generators and four natural gas-powered generators. Communication of pertinent information among shift members, support personnel, maintenance, and management is facilitated through Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Maximo (our Computerized Maintenance Management System).

 

The UPO I may also provide relief and support in other job classifications, including Maintenance and Fuel Unloading. Other duties include performing regular testing and treatment of boiler water as directed and checking offsite equipment located at the Hospital and West Campus.

This position follows a rotating shift schedule, rotating between days and nights every two weeks. You will work seven scheduled days every fourteen days (Dupont rotating schedule), including nights, holidays, and weekends.

 

Availability for vacation coverage, emergency relief, and overtime as required by the plant management team is essential.

  • A minimum of two (2) years industrial plant,  process plant, shipboard power & propulsion or power plant experience operating boilers, pumps, fans, conveyors or similar experience

Compensation

Salary Range:  $22.36 - $32.73 hourly

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a specific Large Scale Solar (LSS) Farm Renewable project from the late stage of development to the execution to review all technical, contractual, financial, regulatory aspects of the LSS project and support for the finalization of the relevant documents, as well as to establish systems and processes for monitoring and controlling Health Safety & Environment (HSE), quality, budget and timeline progress of the construction. PM will support the Lead Business Developer in the pre-construction requirements as well as in the late stage of the development until the handover takes place from Lead BD to PM before construction starts.
  • Responsible for overall project execution for a specific Large Scale Solar (LSS) Farm Renewable project, managing local project team, Engineering, Procurement Construction Commissioning (EPCC) companies, Supplier, Owner Engineer and liaising with ENGIE internal and project related authorities until the testing commissioning of the LSS power plant and achievement of the guaranteed performances (quality, capacity, availability, efficiency).
  • Responsible for Large Scale Solar (LSS) Farm Renewable project management with all operational, contractual and financial aspects in order to ensure respect of HSE plan, quality control plan, time schedule and capital expenditures budget ; managing effective liaisons with ENGIE SEA, ENGIE AMEA, Project Delivery Team, contractors and authorities.

 

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree, in Electrical and /or Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Experience of over 10 years in Construction Industry, or engineering companies, involved for at least 5 years in power, renewable energy or infrastructure projects with electrical works involved.
  • Experience of minimum 6 years as project manager or construction manager in the field of project management.
  • Experience of minimum 6 years as project manager or construction manager in the field of project management, preference for large-scale solar (LSS) ground mounted farms (at least 50 MWac/project in Philippines).
  • Prior experience in engineering, construction, project planning and contracts management with interfacing with Philippine authorities (DOE, NGCP, ERC, LGUs, etc.).
  • Ability to speak, to write concise reports fluently in English, to liaise with internal stakeholders.
  • Good understanding and knowledge about engineering, construction, project financing requirements, operations and maintenance of solar power plants.
  • Capable to structure and drive complex projects in pluricultural contexts with engineering, construction components and with strong understanding of power project critical path and milestones (land, grid interconnection, permitting, T&C).
  • Interaction experience in an international working environment and different cultures with understanding of the technical and commercial principles underlying relevant commercial contracts and agreements.

 

Note: This is a project-based position located in Pampanga. The candidate will be based in Manila for the first three months to support pre-construction requirements. The project duration is 2 years.

Funciones principales:

  • Supervisión y coordinación del equipo de frigoristas
  • Planificar y asignar tareas diarias, asegurando la correcta ejecución de los trabajos.
  • Optimizar el uso de recursos (personal, materiales, equipos) para el desarrollo eficiente de las actividades.
  • Gestionar y coordinar las reparaciones y otros trabajos, asegurando la mínima interrupción de las operaciones

Requisitos:

  • Experiencia mínima de 5 años en frío industrial, en empresas instaladoras y mantenedoras
  • Capacidad de interpretar documentos técnicos (esquemas, planos y especificaciones de equipos)
  • Montaje, reparación y desmontaje de componentes frigoríficos (compresores, intercambiadores, válvulas, etc)
  • Pruebas de estanquidad y vacío en instalaciones
  • Diagnóstico y localización de averías
  • Montaje, conexionado y calibración de instrumentos
  • Manipulación y carga de refrigerantes (amoníaco y halogenados). Carnet de gases fluorados
  • Procedimientos de seguridad en relación a los refrigerantes (uso de EPIs, etc)
  • Automatismos y controles de instalaciones frigoríficas
  • Puesta en marcha y ajustes operativos de las instalaciones
  • Nociones de energía y eficiencia energética

Responsibilities

HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality) policy, execution and performance

  • Develop & update HSSEQ policies, guidelines, practices, management systems & tools to reflect Group's requirements, ensuring they are implemented across entities.
  • Implement ENGIE One Safety Transformation program across SEA cluster.

  • Monitor and improve HSSEQ performance, including providing on-the-ground support to entities as required. Support not limited to SEA cluster, also entities within country level.
  • Regular site visits, include regional, to audit & ensuring Group’s/SEA Internal Control in place, identifying improvement & follow up on actions
  • Perform annual review of HSSEQ performance & identify gaps for improvement.
  • Consolidate & validation of monthly HSSEQ statistics, EARTH reporting, ENGIE Ways of Working (Wow) & actions, preparation, security reports & submission to various parties, and to consolidate report for Executive Committee meetings.
  • Conduct HSSEQ inspection, leads & provide support in Major events / accident investigation where necessary, across entities & recommends improvement actions, sharing across entities to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Investigating, evaluating & reporting of Fatal/LTI/HiPo (High Potential) events to Group & cluster.
  • Crisis Management – Training to Managers on Duty, organize & execution of Crisis drills and coordination between Group, AMEA (Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa), country & entities. Monitor crisis situation across entities with ISOS travel, identify & highlight any security matters.
  • Screening, evaluation & approval on H&S criteria for vendors through Regional Due Diligence process.
  • Establish Quality Assurance & Quality Control function for our portfolio of projects / assets.

 

Training and competency development 

  • Review and identify HSSEQ related training requirements for various category of staff and onsite contractors to meet the mandatory requirement and also to meet the job requirement.
  • Lead, guide & train trainers across SEA cluster & develop training material/videos, organize and conduct training for Leadership in Health & Safety / ENGIE One Safety Culture for staff and contractors. Ensure all mandatory HSSEQ training are conducted and participated by staff/contractors.
  • Identify and propose new initiatives/continual process improvement for implementation across entities.

 

Leadership and administration

  • Lead SEA cluster in terms of ENGIE One Safety,  GBU H&S Coordination, Group Security & Group Environment.
  • Attend Group’s webinars, meetings & discussion on all HSSEQ related matters.
  • Monthly chairing of SEA cluster HSSEQ for updates, implementation, initiatives & follow up of actions across all entities.
  • Leads, support & guide team of HSSEQ professionals towards meeting Group's & SEA objectives, KPIs and actions, ensuring implementation & follow ups across entities. 
  • Oversight on the Singapore GAP business and building HSSE as well as the safe management measures. Coordinating meetings to ensure ongoing checks, implementation & monitoring, ensuring compliance with local governance and safe management measures.
  • Interface & advise Country Executives, HSSEQ professionals, entity personnel and Group to provide consistent and effective application of the HSSEQ policies, ensure strong sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Leads & organize HSSEQ related activities or events to promote and increase awareness to staff on good safety culture and good work practices.
  • Managerial Safety Rituals (MSR) Site visit coordination on schedule & site visits of N-1, N-2 Managers to achieve set KPIs.
  • Lead and manage SEA HSSEQ functional teams across entities, especially for Construction projects

 

Requirements

  • Master/Bachelor’s Degree in Environment, Occupational Safety & Health, Security, Engineering or equivalent. 
  • At least 15 years of relevant working experience in Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality preferably with construction project background
  • Registered Workplace Safety Officer and Environment Control Office 
  • Conversant with prevailing HSE standards, codes and industry practices and detailed understanding of local WSH Act, environmental & other legal requirements, regional knowledge will be strong added advantage
  • Experience in ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 preferred. 
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels while maintaining string ethics and professionalism.
