The working environment

The "Plant Layout & Integration" group, which is part of the “Engineering Management” department of the NUCLEAR business line, provides engineering and consulting services in:

  • Technical Integration: issuing multidisciplinary synthesis reports and ensuring technical consistency of Nuclear project deliverables and technical excellence through coordination of the technical disciplines and  overall nuclear expertise;
  • Layout: integration of input from different technical disciplines and coordination of draftsmen to achieve an optimum spatial arrangement for a new facility or modifications to existing plants, taking into account all project constraints including safety, constructability, economics, operations, maintenance, etc;
  • Drafting: development of drawings of technical solutions (BIM model, 2D implantation drawings, Civil Works guide drawings, Site Plot Plans, isometrics, PID, etc).

The key competences of the “Plant Layout & Integration” Group are related to:

  • Design assessment of Generation III/III+ reactors, not limited to but with particular emphasis on EPR, AP1000, ATMEA1 and EU-APR designs;
  • Follow-up of Generation IV and Small Modular Reactor (SMR) designs;
  • Engineering and Consulting services for Nuclear New Build projects (siting, licensing, design, layout, Owner requirements, Bid Invitation Specifications, EPC Contract Development, etc);
  • Design and construction of complex plant modifications and new facilities at operating Nuclear Power Plant units (e.g. spent fuel storage facilities, waste management facilities, Long Term Operation and Post-Fukushima modifications, Containment Filter Venting System, new bunkerised facilities, etc);
  • Layout development and Drafting for:
    • Nuclear projects (see hereabove);
    • International Gas Projects (e.g. new LNG Terminals);
    • National and International Conventional Power projects (Combined Cycle Power Plants, Wind Turbine, Biomass Power Plants, Coal Fired Power Plants, Diesel Engines Power Plants) and Industry projects (e.g. pharmaceutical industry).

Your job

Building Information Model (BIM) is a collaboration process involving the generation and management of an integrated digital representation (BIM Models) of physical (CAD) and functional characteristics (Data / Documents) of a Building / Facility, its Systems, Structures and Components.

The BIM Draftsman is generally responsible for developing optimum layout solutions and for implementing them in the BIM models and drawings. He/she performs the following tasks:

  • Site visits / walkdowns: preparation, execution and reporting;
  • Development of optimum layout solutions;
  • Development and update of the BIM model (CAD and functional data) in accordance with project requirements;
  • Interference management and delivery of the collision reports;
  • Extraction of the data from the BIM model in order to generate the necessary lists of BOP SSC and Bills of Materials/Quantities;
  • Development of drawings (on basis of the BIM Model):
    • Site implantation drawings / plot plans;
    • Equipment implantation drawings (mechanical, electrical, I&C);
    • Cable routing implantation drawings;
    • Piping implantation drawings;
    • Piping isometrics;
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) / Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID);
    • Guide drawings of supports and anchors, guide drawings of mechanical equipment (cranes, tanks, etc);
    • Other drawings: construction site installation drawings, earthworks drawings, handling and load drawings, road and utility network drawings, fire compartmentation drawings, flowcharts, schemes, diagrams, etc;
  • Support of the Design Team for different deliverables: (inputs for) layout description reports, photomontages;
  • Participation to project meetings and interaction with project team to collect, update and present all layout inputs and outputs and ensure their consistency;
  • Verification and commenting of detail design drawings and BIM/3D models issued by Contractors;
  • Follow-up of construction and installation activities on site;
  • Follow-up and respect of budget and schedule and identification of deviations with respect to commitments;
  • Reporting to PM, Drafting Office Team Leader and to N443 Group Manager. 

 

Your profile

  • You have full proficiency in Dutch and good communication skills in French or English;
  • You should be based in our headquarters in Brussels;
  • You are a bachelor of electro-mechanics or equivalent and have good knowledge in civil engineering;
  • You have several years of experience as Draftsman for large scale engineering projects or other relevant experience and have a sharp interest in technical expertise;
  • You have full proficiency in REVIT and Navisworks; demonstrating experience with several other BIM/3D and 2D lay-out / CAD softwares is a plus (Microstation, OpenPlant, AECOSIM, Autocad, Smartplant, Recap, Solidworks, PDMS, Catia…);
  • You have a strong interest in new digital tools and methods (BIM, laser scanner, point cloud, AR/VR);
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Word);

YOUR JOB

Building Information Model (BIM) is a collaboration process involving the generation and management of an integrated digital representation (BIM Models) of physical (CAD) and functional characteristics (Data / Documents) of a Building / Facility, its Systems, Structures and Components.

 

As part of his BIM activities on projects, the BIM Coordinator / Layout Engineer:

  • Manages the BIM models and information exchanges;
  • Coordinates the BIM Modelers / Draftsmen to develop optimum layout solutions (see herebelow);
  • Performs interference management and issues the collision reports;
  • Extracts the data from the 3D data model in order to generate the necessary lists of BOP SSC and Bills of Materials/Quantities;
  • Develops and implements BIM standards, templates, automation routines, documentation and workflow process standards; collaborates with other Tractebel entities and with Tractebel BIM Managers to streamline the development of the BIM processes in the Plant Layout and Integration group;
  • Manages and supervises the activities of the BIM Modellers / Draftsmen; assesses and monitors of the workload and project needs; identifies their training needs.

The BIM Coordinator / Layout Engineer will be involved in different engineering missions of the Plant Layout and Integration Group. The engineering mission of BIM Coordinator/ Layout Engineer is to achieve an optimum arrangement of a new nuclear facility taking constructability, economics, safety and operations. The BIM Coordinator / Layout Engineer must “demonstrate technical ability along with a creative talent and common-sense approach to problem solving” for developing the layout of a facility. The BIM Coordinator / Layout Engineer typical activities include:

  • Collection of layout requirements (project requirements, customer requirements, site requirements, etc), collection of layout inputs from the different Disciplines involved in the project (Safety and Security, Radiation Protection, HSE, Fluid Systems, HVAC, Fire Protection, Mechanical equipment including handling systems, Electrical Systems, Instrumentation and Control Systems, Civil Works, etc.); Review of layout inputs and design configurations issued by the different Disciplines and anticipation of layout problems and customer needs;
  • Performance of site visits (walkdown) (when necessary) and measurement campaigns (use of laser scanner);
  • Development of optimum layout solutions, drawing sketches of preliminary solutions on BIM/ CAD software, management of the BIM models; Optimum arrangement of the facility plot plan; Optimum location of all equipment inside the facilities; Optimum routing and arrangement of the different systems, structures and components inside the facilities: civil structures, piping, process, HVAC, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, I&C, etc;
  • Coordination of the BIM Modellers / Draftsmen for the issue and successive revisions of different design drawings (with 2D and 3D BIM / CAD softwares) and figures;
  • Drafting general layout reports e.g. in order to present and justify the developed layout solutions; presentation of layout solutions to customer ;
  • Coordination of layout aspects through participation and/or organization of multidisciplinary “layout” meetings, design reviews and more informal “face-to-face” meetings;
  • Adequate introduction of hold points. Request for validation of layout solutions by all Disciplines prior to design reviews;
  • Management of layout interfaces between the different Disciplines, and provision of appropriate support and timely deliverables to other Disciplines.

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • You are a Civil engineer or Industrial engineer with a sharp interest in technical expertise;
  • You demonstrate experience as BIM coordinator (or BIM Manager) and/or as Layout Engineer on large-size engineering projects. Layout experience in nuclear installations is a key asset;
  • You demonstrate experience with BIM software (preferably REVIT); experience with other BIM / CAD softwares is a plus (Autocad, Microstation, OpenPlant, AECOSIM, SMARTPLANT, Recap, Navisworks, Inventor, Solidworks, PDMS, Catia…); experience with point clouds and laser scanner is a plus;
  • You have a strong interest in new digital tools and methods (BIM, laser scanner, point cloud, AR/VR);
  • As the BIM processes are under development in the section you have an hands-on approach to propose / test / develop existing/ new BIM tools and methods (add-ons, software, libraries, automation routines, server);
  • You are dynamic, pragmatic and rigorous and have a strong problem solving attitude;

Role Summary

What You Can Expect

As the Ecological Restoration / Vegetation Management Advisor based in Houston, TX, you will ensure that ecological restoration and vegetation management strategies are developed, implemented and effectively maintained across all ENGIE Renewables sites.  You will work closely with the development and delivery teams to identify and implement vegetation management strategies for new projects.  You will be responsible for ensuring site preparation and seeding during the delivery phase and managing the operational phase, including coordinating contractors for mowing, grazing, or other methods. This role requires collaboration across teams to support the success of vegetation management throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Reporting to the VP, Field Operations, your primary duties will encompass:

 

  • Keeping up to date with innovation and industry best practices and acting as subject matter expert in relation to ecological restoration, vegetation management, agrivoltaics (such as sheep grazing), pollinator habitat and other related activities.
  • Ensuring sites remain compliant with regulatory requirements, planning consents and land lease obligations along with any other such requirements. Including the tracking and closure of consent and licensing conditions
  • Conducting ecological restoration related fieldwork, including assessment of site conditions, noxious weed mapping, storm water pollution prevention planning, auditing of restoration works and restoration monitoring to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards
  • Working closing with teams across development, construction and operations and maintenance to develop ecologically minded site restoration strategies / specifications, including seed mixes, biodiversity enhancements, monitoring protocols, and vegetation maintenance plans for use during a project’s planning, construction, and operations phases
  • Drafting technical memos and reports, along with other project support materials as needed
  • Identification and assessment of suitably qualified and experienced vegetation management contractors, drafting of scopes along with the tendering, letting and day to day management of contracts
  • Communicating effectively regarding the scope and schedule of restoration and vegetation management activities to be performed, onsite along with ongoing monitoring and maintenance required by site teams
  • Assessment and approval of weed abatement treatments for use on site including pesticides and herbicides.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in restoration ecology, natural resource management, environmental science, conservation biology, or a closely related discipline; In lieu of the educational requirement, we will accept a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industry experience in vegetation management & ecology restoration
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently and interact professionally and respectfully with project managers, site managers, contractors, landowners, and regulatory bodies

 

Additional Details

  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically with United States and Canada 40% to visit sites, company meetings, events and training

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,100 – $147,660 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Manage all I&C maintenance activities associated with defect and planned maintenance programmes, through a team of site-based technicians and at times by external contract agencies.

  • Coordinating I&C maintenance activities with finance and accounting, administration, HSE and operations departments

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Safety at Work

  • Ensures a safe working environment for himself and the I&C Technicians whilst working on any equipment;
  • Obtains a Permit to Work for each job as necessitated by the Jubail 3B RO Plant HSE Procedures put in place;
  • Ensures all necessary precautions are taken by himself, the I&C Technicians and Contractors while undertaking any jobs in Jubail 3B RO Plant;
  • Ensures that all necessary tools are available for the safe working on equipment and that are used during performance on all jobs in the Plant;
  • Monitors I&C Technicians and Contractors to ensure Safe Work Practices as per Plant HSE guidelines are followed;

Team Leadership

  • Leads the I&C Maintenance Technicians and ensures a high level of efficiency in the Team;

  • Acts as a mentor for the I&C Team;

Maintenance Task Planning and Execution

  • Ensures maintenance tasks are completed by the Technicians as per Work Orders generated in Computerize I&C Maintenance Management System;
  • Ensures the reports of maintenance done is documented in;
  • Generates reports as necessary for the maintenance done;
  • Plans for and ensures that maintenance of all I&C equipment is in accordance with OEM Manuals for the equipment;

  • Arranges for condition monitoring of I&C equipment;
  • Reviews I&C Maintenance Procedures and suggests improvements.
  • Coordinate Vulnerability Assessment / Penetration Test for the OT Cybersecurity.

Equipment Failure Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Supports reliable and accessible 24-hour engineering call-out functionality;
  • Attempts all possible means of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high plant availability;
  • Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary to determine failure conditions and rectifies defects found;
  • Record and reports rectified jobs to the O&M Manager;
  • Generates reports of equipment failure;
  • Performs Root Cause Analysis of failures;
  • Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with I&C equipment.

Reporting, Overall Planning and Budgeting

  • Ensures that all planned and unplanned jobs are undertaken within I&C Maintenance budget;
  • Works with the O&M Manager for outage planning and execution;
  •  Undertake planning and budget preparation processes.

Spares, Consumables and Tools

  • Ensures adequate inventories of spares and consumables are maintained;
  • Places requisitions for purchase of required spares and consumables;
  • Ensures necessary tooling is available to all Technicians;
  • Ensures Third Party Certification of all tools is done on an annual basis or as required;
  • Ensures all tools are maintained and are in good working condition.        

Ownership

  • Assumes ownership of Plant’s I&C equipment and strives to maintain them in the best possible condition.

Delivers Technical Advice to Enable Efficient Maintenance of I&C Equipment and Continuous Improvement

  • Delivers technical advice to colleagues and Contractors to ensure safety and the proper execution of Plant Maintenance Practices;

Train and Develop I&C Technicians to Build the Workforce’s Technical Capability and to Deliver a Step Up in Plant Performance

  • Coach I&C Technicians on I&C equipment, Safe Work Procedures and Operational Techniques to ensure proper execution of Plant Routines;
  • Prepares and delivers technical training including modules on HV and LV, transformers and switchgear

  • Engie Al Jubail for O&M company Ltd performs services through an O&M agreement for the Owner of the SWRO Plant: Al Jubail International Water Company. 
  • The project is a Greenfield IWP with a 25 year WPA with single off-taker Saudi Water Partnership Company.
  • The Job Holder will be based at Jubail 3B SWRO Plant that will be located in the industrial city of Jubail on the Arabian Gulf coast in eastern Saudi Arabia, around 100 kilo meters from Dammam. The Jubail 3B SWRO Plant will serve Riyadh and Qassim with potable water. The plant will include storage tanks with one day’s production capacity in addition to in-house solar capacity to reduce power consumption from the kingdom’s national grid;
  • The Job Holder leads the I&C Maintenance team in a safe and efficient manner. He is responsible for setting Departmental Objectives, delivering targets (quantity and quality) as well as execution of the company strategy
