Context:
The transversal data officer works within the global Data Office for GEMS. The Data office is under the direct responsibility of the Chief Data officer and is responsible for data governance, quality as well as driving the overall data strategy for the organization under the guidance of the CDO.
Role:
The transversal data officer primary mission is to ensure the proper operationalization of Data Governance in relation with all stakeholders. Besides, the Data Officer must meet Data Governance program objectives, budget constraints and timeline.
Data Office roadmap and program monitoring:
Assists the CDO in defining the Data Office roadmap considering data centric strategies involving Data Science and AI initiatives
Makes sure that Data Office roadmap is updated
Ensures that KPIs allowing to supervise the governance program advancement are defined and monitored
Assists the CDO in prioritizing data subjects and is involved in the construction of IS roadmap on Data subjects
Assists the CDO in organizing and preparing data committees
Data Office resource and budget monitoring:
Ensures resource & budget availability and allocation for the Data Office
Makes resource & budget allocation adjustments if necessary
Reports and escalate to CDO as needed
Change management / Acculturation
Ensures that the governance framework is communicated and promoted to identified audiences using prescribed channels
Participates with HR in the development of skills improvement plans of data actors
Ensures that HR are informed of new data roles nominations
Supports onboarding of new data roles
Use cases identification and Data Governance linkage:
Identifies strategic use cases with an opportunity to deploy the governance framework
Ensures that data roles are identified and nominated in use cases especially where data pain points are detected
Makes sure that Data Office policies are communicated and supervised by identified data roles
Ensures that identified data roles include data objectives in the use cases they intervene in
Ensures that use cases monitor data management KPIs: quality, access, etc.
Monitors major issues and problems
Identifies opportunities of evolution of the Data Governance framework and makes sure they are processed
Catalog ownership
Guarantees the proper evolution of the data catalog and quality of its content regarding users’ needs
Hard skills:
- Must have:
- Excellence Analytical skills, combined with a hands-on approach ;
- Strong understanding of information management tool and trading systems ;
- Good to have:
- The capability and/or interest in code languages (Python etc) ;
Soft skills:
Good interpersonal skills and communication
Eager to learn with a strong business drive ;
Well organized and pro-active ;
Ability to interact with both business and IT teams ;
Good to have:
- Good knowledge of the energy industry.
Education and professional background:
5-10 years professional experience in similar role or in a business analyst capacity with ideally a previous experience in data management initiatives.
Languages:
- Fluent in French and English, Dutch a plus.
Travels:
Some travel may be required in the various locations where GEMS has offices.
