Close to 70 competitors showed up for this year’s launch. Among them, the tour ambassadors, and the French kite foil team.
Although there was not enough wind to race on Sunday, the weekend started with some optimal conditions, allowing the competitors battling it out in Cap d’Agde to participate in some great races in all categories. In total, there were 12 courses for the 36 kite foilers and 9 courses for twin-tip (8 registered), directional board (12 registered), and wing foil (9 registered). The addition of wing foil as its own category was a triumph and presented a great line-up, notably Titouan Galea, world wing foil champion.
Masterfully organised by the Centre Nautique du Cap d’Agde, the first round of the 2022 edition of the ENGIE Kite Tour resulted in some breathtaking wins: Nicolas Parlier and Alexia Fancelli in kite foil, Simon Leprevost and Margaux Lacoste in twin-tip, Alex Caizergues in directional board, and, finally, Hugo Marin in wing foil.

Kiters take part in a waste collection initiative on Richelieu beach
Much like in Arcachon and Leucate last year, the ENGIE Foundation and the Fondation de la Mer have joined forces in order to raise awareness among the general public, competitors and volunteers on environmental protection thanks to a clean-up organised Saturday morning on Richelieu beach. All competitors showed up and more than ten garbage bags were filled.
Join us at every stage of the ENGIE Kite Tour to take part in this wonderful initiative.
