Nel Ruolo di Building Specialist Intern supporterai il Contract Manager e, in coordinamento con il team Industrial & Facility Energy Services, gestirai le attività di manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria dei Contratti a te assegnati.

Quali saranno le tue responsabilità?

Supporterai il Contract Manager nel:

  • Predisporre i preventivi e le offerte economiche per lo sviluppo dei lavori indotti di commessa
  • Assicurare la corretta esecuzione delle attività di manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria e relativa contabilizzazione
  • Gestire il sistema di manutenzione (EAM) e relativo monitoraggio di SLA e KPI
  • Assicurare la corretta gestione e conduzione degli impianti nel rispetto dei parametri contrattuali di comfort previsti e della massima economia di servizio
  • Assicurare che tutte le attività vengano svolte nel pieno rispetto della normativa tecnica e delle normative in materia di ambiente e sicurezza
  • Gestire la direzione lavori per la manutenzione straordinaria e riqualificazione impianti esistenti
  • Assicurare un buon rapporto con il cliente
  • Gestire la rendicontazione economica delle prestazioni rese, i mezzi e le risorse assegnate nella logica dell’ottimizzazione e nel rispetto delle norme in materia di rapporto di lavoro
  • Gestire l’interfaccia tecnica con le altre funzioni interne all’azienda coinvolte nel progetto
  • Predisporre la programmazione delle attività relazionando al CM su eventuali scostamenti
  • Coordinare il personale tecnico interno a lui assegnato e in subappalto affinché svolgano le attività di competenza
  • Gestire la documentazione di accesso in sicurezza al sito designato sia per i dipendenti Engie che per i subappaltatori

The opportunity:

 

Would you like to contribute to the delivery of the ENGIE Battery and Energy Storage (BESS) strategy in Australia?

 

The applicant will join the project delivery team to manage the delivery of energy generation assets from the lead-up to financial close, to the commencement of commercial operations.

 

The role will be accountable to the Head of Project Delivery and the role can be worked flexibly between home and our modern Southbank office.  Travel to project sites will be necessary as required.

 

The successful applicant will have a proven track record in delivering construction of energy generation or storage projects in Australia on time and within budget. You will be collaborative and possess a can-do mindset.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the execution of new power generation and storage projects
  • Ensure high level governance and delivery of project milestones focusing on health and safety and quality standards
  • Manage major contracts, project schedules, budgets and stakeholder engagement
  • Utilise project management methodologies to achieve intended outcomes
  • Actively identify and mitigate project risks, issues, dependencies and constraints and tackle them head-on
  • Build, motivate and lead a project team to achieve outstanding results
  • Manage key internal and external stakeholders including regulatory agencies and government bodies.

 

 About you:

  • Demonstrated experience in project delivery (construction) in renewable energy projects, and ideally BESS
  • Mature understanding and practical experience in principles of project management as they relate to engineering and construction
  • Ability to manage a diverse set of operational and corporate stakeholders
  • Strong problem solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Passion for renewable energy and wishing to invest yourself long term in a company that is leading the energy transition globally
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or related field is desirable but not mandatory

What You Can Expect

As our Financial Reporting Advisor, you will play a crucial role in compiling and delivering International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)-based financial statements, reporting packages, and analysis to local management, ENGIE Group, and various Canadian and US partnerships.   • Compile and review financial statement reporting packages to ensure compliance with IFRS and US GAAP, and contractual partnership reporting requirements
  • Coordinate statutory and external partnership audits, providing working papers and draft notes disclosures
  • Resource plan to meet reporting and audit deadlines, identifying process bottlenecks and efficiency opportunities
  • Liaise with the Technical Accounting team to ensure compliance with IFRS standards and implement new pronouncements
  • Quantify financial impacts of new accounting rules for ENGIE group reporting and North American partnerships, aligning financial reports with analytical metrics for stakeholders

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance with relevant academic qualifications and intimacy with financial statements
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in external audit, audit coordination, or external financial reporting background for various stakeholders
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the energy industry, or accounting for tax equity partnerships
  • You are CPA certified or currently in progress towards certification
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Products including advanced Excel, Finance/Accounting software packages such as SAP S4 HANA and Adaptive Insight
  • You are an individual with excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, capable of managing multiple assignments accurately and on time

Our Project Development Senior Advisor will be solving for the two biggest challenges in industry, decarbonization and cost competitiveness.  Identifying and implementing unique solutions to these challenges are the mission of ENGIE North America’s Energy Solutions (ES) business.   • You will be working in tandem with the internal program and project management teams including multidisciplinary support functions to create proposals and bids, for our utility partner the University of Iowa.  You will contribute to ENGIE’s commercial performance by providing expertise and utilizing consultative sales skills to win major projects with your  innovative solutions to client’s  needs.
  • Under the direction of the VP – ES Partnerships, you will analyze opportunities by understanding customer needs, looking for solutions, and developing the strategy in collaboration with the CAPEX Director and program managers who will have pre-targeted the potential project.
  • In this transversal role, you will work with the O&M and project teams and build proposals together by ensuring the management and coordination of ES’s various internal resources: commercial, technical, legal, purchasing, financial, architectural, HR, etc.
  • You, along with the CAPEX Director will be responsible for the deliverable or the project submission, which must meet the expectations of the client and the requirements of ENGIE ES, and all actions required up to the signature of the contracts with the client and stakeholders.
  • Your role includes organizing and participating in the drafting of the bid/ proposal, representing our company during oral presentations, negotiating with the client and partners, quoting the services, etc. while ensuring the management of the bid by monitoring the schedule, working meetings, and developing an action plan.

2. BACKGROUND

 

ENGIE is a long-term partner for Africa’s growing energy needs and a carbon-neutral economy. Our purpose is to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally friendly solutions.

 

The position is key to support ENGIE’s businesses within South Africa, in the context of existing key businesses and strong growth ambitions. ENGIE is involved in the development and operation of renewable assets (onshore wind, solar PV, and concentrated solar power), and flexibility assets (OCGTs, Renewable Hydrogen and Battery Energy Storage).

 

 

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ENGIE’s presence in South Africa is already strong and is set to grow. To grow the business means that the company needs a strong government relations manager to steer and navigate an integrated stakeholder approach aligned to the business focus, delivery and ambitions.

 

The purpose of the Regulatory and Public Affairs Manager role is to develop and lead the integrated strategic approach of government relations for ENGIE South Africa. This position aims to (1) understand key business stakes, then establish and represent the company’s position, as well as (2) monitor and explain relevant regulatory matters within the company (businesses in South Africa and corporate). To succeed, the incumbent will affect collaboration with relevant authorities in the South Africa to review and help frame policy decisions, navigate regulatory frameworks, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. The person in the role will also liaise and coordinate with a network of experts within the Group, in particular the Public Affairs Department, which reports to the Group General Secretary. He or she will be involved in existing networks for exchanges between the heads of public and regulatory affairs in the Group's various geographies. The role will comply with all applicable laws and ENGIE’s Ethical rules and policies.

 

Government and Regulatory Body Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with government agencies, policymakers, and regulatory bodies at various levels to investigate, understand and help frame policy formulation, and encourage regulatory environments that accelerate the energy transition towards a carbon neutral economy.
  • Represent ENGIE South Africa in industry forums, advocating for ENGIE’s businesses across South Africa.

Policy Analysis and Stakeholder Insights:

  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret legislative changes, regulatory trends, and policy developments affecting ENGIE’s businesses.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management based on in-depth policy analysis, anticipating potential impacts on business operations. Prepare position papers on key topics.

Government Relations and Advocacy:

  • Interpret national policy changes and developments to inform business strategy.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy to enhance ENGIE’s reputation and visibility in the energy transition space, linked to the group and country strategy.
  • Communicate and advocate for the ENGIE strategy in South Africa.  
  • Leverage the local, national, and group mechanisms to bolster government advocacy and relations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to effectively communicate the company's vision, initiatives, and contributions to sustainable energy solutions.
  • Drive advocacy campaigns, leveraging thought leadership and partnerships with communications to improve public understanding of and support for energy transition initiatives.
  • Ensure company-wide understanding of the political and regulatory environment and support cross-functional teams.
  • Provide a comprehensive view of the ENGIE South Africa stakeholder landscape for the leadership team.
  • When needed, arrange key meetings with ENGIE stakeholders and key government stakeholders.
  • Manage the relationship with key foreign government stakeholders and agencies on behalf of ENGIE.

Risk Management and Compliance Alignment:

  • Assess regulatory risks, based on political developments and coordinate proactive measures to mitigate potential impacts on business operations and project timelines.
  • Implement systems and processes for ongoing regulatory monitoring, reporting, and compliance assurance, with legal.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Foster collaboration across departments including legal, finance, operations, communications, ESG and business development and GBUs to align public and regulatory strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate between the broader Regulatory and Public Affairs team within the group and other countries to adopt the best practice and bolster the South African approach.

ESG Collaboration and Support:

  • Provide strategic support to the ESG team, in incorporating relevant regulatory changes the overall ESG strategy and approach for ENGIE South Africa.
  • Support the ESG team in their engagement with local government stakeholders.
  • Contributing to societal reporting, managing stakeholder relations, and integrating government stakeholder criteria into investment decision-making.

5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, Environmental Studies, Law, Public Policy or NQF equivalent. A master degree is highly desirable.

Language

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written skills)
  • Other languages would be a benefit
  • Excellent writing, spelling, editing and proofreading skills

 

Experience and Qualifications Required:

The job holder will have:

  • Proven experience (typically around 8-10 years) in government relations, stakeholder management, regulatory affairs, public policy, or a related field within the energy sector or a closely aligned industry, including work at a strategic level.

  • For large projects at existing partnerships, this role will liaise with and provide best practice sharing to the other members of the capital projects team including, but not limited to, Georgetown University in Washington, DC, Iowa University in Iowa City, IA and Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.

What You’ll Bring

  • You will possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technical discipline, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Advise and lead the execution of the hedging strategies, monitor the performance of these strategies, as well as the financial performance of each book and the whole of the portfolio

 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Define a roadmap for the target representation and hedging strategies of the risks across ENGIE’s portfolio, allowing to fully implement ENGIE’s integrated model in Australia
  • Build and develop an effective team of highly skilled and enthusiastic Portfolio Optimisers
  • Ensure that the upstream and downstream assets expected revenue, production/consumption, and associated risks are modelled appropriately and consistently; drive the Analytics team to improve the models and the IT teams to industrialise.
  • Validate PL and Risks of the assets books
