ENGIE takes its apprentices to meet its technicians

By ENGIE - 26 January 2023 - 17:28

ENGIE Tech Days - a five-stage whistle stop tour around France - got underway in Lille on 11 January! By bringing together apprentices from ENGIE's CFA apprentice training centre and experts from the Group's Communau’Tech community, Tech Days are designed to spark vocation.

A Tour de France for technical professions

Tech Days hinge together training, recruitment and innovation, with the energy transition as a watchword. This ENGIE initiative encourages dialogue between the Group's Technician Ambassadors and apprentices at ENGIE's CFA energy transition academy. The idea behind the initiative is to create aspiration with regards to the Group's technical roles, boosting the number of candidates and, at the same time, promoting ENGIE'S Communau’Tech in the meantime. This first edition, which was launched in Lille on the 11th of January, aims to lay the foundation for regular dialogue between apprentices at ENGIE's CFA and technical experts from ENGIE's Communau’Tech. And, as a wide range of Group entities take part, it is a great opportunity to showcase the diversity of the technical field.

Upcoming Tech Days in France:

  • 8 February: Orléans
  • 12 April: Toulouse
  • 10 May: Lyon
  • 21 June: Paris.

What sparked this initiative focusing on technical professions?

Everyone now knows it is vital that we step up the energy transition. Which is why ENGIE is aiming to recruit massively across a number of professions connected to carbon neutrality. It is worth bearing in mind that the technical sector accounts for 70% of the Group's future needs. The aim is also to promote ENGIE's technical roles and the opportunities provided by the Group's CFA. All motivated candidates are offered career opportunities at ENGIE.

What is ENGIE's Energy Transition Academy?

The CFA opened in 2020 and now trains over 200 young people. In 2024 there will be over 400 students! What are the reasons for this success? The CFA has centres in the the following regions: Ile-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Occitanie, Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Pays-de-la-Loire regions of France. Its extensive geographic network and high-quality learning content, designed in conjunction with renowned specialist training organisations, explain the CFA's success. Besides, the CFA offers courses leading to recognised qualifications, from vocational baccalauréat to bachelor's degree. The Academy is a means of drawing more and more young people, aged between 16 and 29, particularly women, to the technical professions the Group will be relying on in the future. It is also aimed at adults retraining to switch careers.

Key figures:

  • 400 young people in training in 2024
  • 70% of the Group's recruitment needs in technical roles

"By launching our Tech Days, we are supporting the Group's needs in terms of talent recruitment and the creation of a sector of excellence focusing on technical professions. We are also confirming our commitment to offering technical training as a driver of inclusion and to supporting our employees as a major responsible player in the energy transition."
Séverine Le Mière, director of ENGIE's CFA apprentice training centre
