Team ENGIE: summary of their performances in October

By ENGIE - 07 November 2022 - 10:14

KITEFOIL - One week after the difficult European Championships, Axel and Poema perform at the World Championships!

Some disappointments for our 2 kiteboarders at the European Kitefoil Championships in Nafpaktos, Greece at the beginning of this month. The triple European champion, Axel Mazella, was unfortunately forced to abandon following 2 disqualifications and Poema Newland ranked 8th.

A week later, Poema and Axel got back on track and performed well at the World Championships in Sardinia. Axel won the bronze medal and Poema took a deserving 6th place. Excellent results considering the level which does not cease increasing with the prospect of the 1st participation of Kite in the Olympic Games of 2024.

JUDO - Madeleine does not give up

At the World Championships in Tashkent, Madeleine Malonga lost in the 2nd round of the competition to the South Korean Hyunji Yoon. A huge disappointment for our double medalist of Tokyo.

"The last competition of the season. This post-Olympic year has not been easy. A resumption in January with a questioning, doubts and a motivation to find again. And since a few weeks; the pleasure, the desire and especially the motivation finally there! So yes, the medal is not there today, I am obviously disappointed with the result. But I am proud of the path we have taken this year. I know how winding the road to Paris 2024 will be. But I am ready, I have the desire and the motivation to surpass myself, to bounce back, to move forward again and again.”

PARA-CYCLING - Two 4th places for Raphaël at the World Para-cycling Championships

Raphaël Beaugillet finished twice 4th in tandem with his pilot Quentin Caleyron, on the kilometer and the speed and realized a new record on the two hundred meters in 10,036.

IQ FOIL - Pierre just outside the Top 10 at the iQ Foil World Championships

Pierre le Coq finished 14th out of 164 at the 2022 iQ Foil World Championships.

"I hung on to the top 10 all week but it was too close, I didn't make any big mistakes, I was in the right place but I never managed to get past the second place. The level on this new iQ Foil class is increasing and getting denser, yesterday's truth is not the same as today's and tomorrow's may be even less so ... it's up to me to find the right levers and align the planets better!”
