He started off the defence of his Championship title with an easy victory in his heat on Friday afternoon, which the Lille Métropole club athlete won with a time of 50.87 seconds.
The final took place on Sunday. Wilfried held off Ludvy Vaillant to win, with a time of 49.50 seconds. The Team ENGIE runner put in a great final sprint to retain his French Elite Champion's title! Nicolas-Jean Moulin finished third, with a time of 50.98 seconds.
But despite this fine win, Wilfried still has not set a time that is sufficient to qualify for the Olympics this summer. But all is not lost, and the Team ENGIE runner still has every chance of joining the eight Team ENGIE athletes who have already qualified: Pauline Ado (surfing), Cassandre Beaugrand (triathlon), Elodie Clouvel (modern pentathlon), Madeleine Malonga (judo), Luka Mhkeidze (judo), Fabien Lamirault (para table tennis), Raphael Beaugillet and François Pervis.
Congratulations to Wilfried, and we wish him the best of luck for his qualification.
