As a forerunner in supporting women's sport (it has been supporting women's tennis for more than 31 years), ENGIE wanted to bolster its support for the role that women play through its Impact Together sponsoring policy. This is why ENGIE wanted to help and support the “CAP POUR ELLES” programme developed by the Transat Jacques Vabre association.
CAP POUR ELLES is a financial support programme that provides organisational and communications assistance. Implemented by the Transat Jacques Vabre association, its aim is to increase the number of women making up the crews taking part in this transatlantic yachting race. Currently, of the 95 boats taking part, only three crews are comprised entirely of women! ENGIE wanted to team up with this second edition of the programme. Pamela Lee (34 years old), who is preparing yachting teams in Lorient, and Tiphaine Ragueneau (30 years old), a vet, are the two lucky beneficiaries of the CAP POUR ELLES scheme.

ENGIE DFDS Brittany Ferries was christened on Monday 23 October in Le Havre, at the Transat Jacques Vabre village. At the event, we were joined by Agnès Firmin Le Bodo, France's deputy minister for regional organisation and health professions, Stéphanie Frappart, an international football referee and one of the boat's sponsors, and a small delegation of women from the WIN network.
Tiphaine and Pamela are two of the 18 women taking part in this year’s race out of total of 190 competitors. Without a shadow of a doubt, Tiphaine and Pamela are two women full of energy, keen to surpass themselves as they cross the Atlantic.
Although they got off to a good start on Sunday 29 October, ENGIE's boat – just like all the other Class40s – had to have a stopover in Lorient because of storm Ciaran. They are scheduled to set off again today, Monday 6 November.
